The reason for us canceling the Springstream is no longer a reason. Though, it will prevent us (well, me at least) from attending the Falluminum and next year's rallies.
I'll call the campground next week, but we're interested in snagging anyone else's canceled site in the future.
We have just got to attend this rally once in our lifetimes.

Other Camping?
It's unlikely that Danielle and I can attend Springstream. However, we are interested in group camping events in and around Georgia. Please PM us if you have plans to camp later in April, May or throughout the summer. We'd like to join you.

Sorry you can't make SpringStream. You might look into the The Smoky Mountain Vintage Rally in Walland, Tennessee. Don't let the name persuade you as there are plenty on newer units there as well.

Check out also the Hacker's Rally at Victoria Bryant SP. I think there are two of us, so it is starting to get a little unwieldy, but if interested we could probably slide you in - IF you bring that propane campfire!

Brad,
If we weren't going to the Smoky Mountain Vintage Rally we'd be there with ya.
We'll see you at SpringStream so save us a spot around "Thor's Cauldron of Death".

It's long, but so was the truck and trailer. Ha Ha! I do like having the room inside, especially having a child and 3 dogs that travel with us.
I'm looking at possibly having to go south through Georgia to get to Springstream. It all depends on if they get Hwy 64 open by then. I, too, would welcome alternate routes. Do we have to go all the way to Atlanta and then over??

Kathy, it looks to me like south on 75 to Dalton and then over to 575 (or more accurately 5) north to Hiawassee. Haven't travelled it, so don't pretend to know the route.

For me, having done the route many times, the best way if coming south on 75 from Chattanooga is to go down to exit 320 and take Hwy 136 east. Go by Carter's Lake, through a small range of hills, and then take a left onto Hwy 382 to Elijay. There are some pretty good hills after you get on 382 but NOT long grades. Go through Elijay and pick up Hwy 5 to Hiawasee..............Dennis

136 is a good drive with some beautiful countryside. The small range of hills is about 3 miles long, roller coaster quality. IIRC, drive east it's uphill, driving west it's downhill.
Not sure about US-76. Anyone know if it's a decent ride from I-75 to Blue Ridge? If I am reading this topo map right, 76 looks like 1 good climb and just gentle rolling the rest of the way.

That's a good route. But I suggest that instead of turning on 382, continue on 136 and you will intersect Highway 5 north of Jasper. Then turn left on 5 to Hiawassee. It's about the same distance, not as many hills, and you pass a big Walmart in East Ellijay which is a good place to take a break.
