Springstream in Georgia 08!!

We have had some ( more than 10) terrific Rallys with lots of folks who had never attended a Rally before.

Check out the Falluminum 08 thread and last years Springstream 07.

We are planning Springstream 08 for April 11-13, at Hiawassee's Georgia Music Fair Campground in section 2 near the music hall.
( Easter is in March this year).

Reservations do not open until early in January, and we will post when they are able to made. Stay tuned!!

yes- we had all aluminum riveted ones last Spring- Feathercrafts.
But the water level as you know is quite low, so we all need to pray for rain and lots of it.

Count me in...Since we won't be able to go to Topsail, we will be ready for camping by then. Book early! As always, the espresso machine will be hot...

I'm in the mood to RALLY...

I've been stuck lately, traveling only for business, and it's TIME TO PARTY.

I wanted to go to the Can Opener, but 1000 miles for one weekend... maybe not?

Georgia NORTH of Atlanta seems a bit more doable - 527 miles. Anyone else from VIRGINIA wanna caravan? Yo... VERN?

If I can get it it together I'll be there.

Is there a way to the area that does not contain 9-11% grades? It was fun being there, but getting there was a little too tense for us.

yes, you go thru Atlanta area, get on Highway 575 which is right off 75 North at Town Center area. It becomes 515 and then 76 and goes right to Hiawassee. ONly one small grade and it short. Good scenery and you go thru Ellijay, Blue Ridge and Young Harris. From the entry to 575 highway to there is about 85 miles.

Terry, you can also go 'round the east side of Atlanta and take back roads. Avoid all the crazy drivers in Atlanta. Try and route from McDonough, to Covington, to Walnut Grove, to Winder, to Helen. Almost all 2 lanes or less traveled 4 lanes. The only semi-tough grade is the Hwy that runs past Top-of-Geogia Airstream park directly into Hiawassee. That's the way we go to the mountains from McDonough these days. Lots of small towns and it takes a little longer, but much less wear and tear on the nerves.

It depends on where you're coming from!

As Alan said, one way from the south would be the road through Atlanta which changes from Interstates (I-75 to I-575) to nice easy 4-lane divided highway (Georgia 515 through Ellijay where US-76 joins in and all the way to Blairsville), and only one serious grade (4 lane highway).

From the north (Ashville, NC for example), I have taken I-40 to Lake Junaluska, then south to Franklin, then west to Hayesville, then south into Georgia where I catch 515/76. But there are many ways...

Helen has the big curvy mountain between it and Hiawassee. I did it at night, it was smooth but a bit scary.

His Excellency, Sonny Purdue, Commander-in-Chief of the State Militia, is waiting for you at the border.

Better bring a couple of dogs along to distract his attention. Ankle biters are preferred.

If that is VA Beach to Atlanta is 527 miles, the VA Beach to Hiawasee would be a lot less. Probably 120-125 miles less, maybe.

BTW, satellite reception isn't doable because of the trees.

There are a couple of people 'round theses here parts that have seriously asked the Govnuh to send the Ga. National Guard up to Alatoona and Lanier to seize the dams. And no, non-Georgians, I'm not making that up.

Anybody that rides motorcycles, especially sport or sport touring bikes, that area is phenomenal for riding. 68 up into NC. and then 129 north all the way into TN. via deals gap is some of the best sport bike riding in the country. I might see if I can make that ralley and bring my VFR along with me.

that route is awesome. I pulled our 31 foot Airstream over that same route last year on the way to the rally. Of course on the map it looks like a nice red line from Knoxville to Hiawassee. Now I know what it is really like.
Glad I chose that road.
