Can't make it to rally

Hey folks,

Due to several unfortunate circumstances I am now unable to attend this years Springstream in Hiawassee. I am currently confirmed for site D-13, so it will be availible as soon as I can contact the office staff. I'm sorry that I am going to miss this rally, but will look forward to future ones.

On Air
Terry

Terry,
Sorry you can’t be there. We always hate to lose a participant.

There is always the fall event and the CanOpener in Jan. is a shorter drive from S. AL.

ps
Hopefully the rain this weekend will continue to help the lake level.

I am sorry too...we seem to be shrinking this time around....but so it goes. Hope all is well with those that cannot make it. We will enjoy it for you and share photos afterwards.

On an up note, the lake is looking full, and the weather is forcast to be terrific...

looks like maybe 25 or so trailers ??

Leaving Monday

We have to make a stop on the way to Springstream so we are leaving Monday.

Almost have all of the AS washed-just have to do the back, but right now it is too hot and sunny so will do it later tonight or early tomorrow.

Haven't decided what we will bring to the activities other than plactic cups for sodas and wine. And, some wine . We have only gotten our oven to work once, so when we leave GA, we are going to JC and having the oven looked at and one other little problem. Anyway, there is a nice market in Hiawassi so will pick up what someone says is missing.

I am having a discussion on another forum about washing the AS. Didn't AS change from putting on a clear coat on to embeding the protection in the aluminum as it is manufactured? If so, what year did they make the change?

Looking forward to seeing and remeeting (is that a word) or meeting everyone.

Pat,
My understanding is that the newer Airstreams are assembled with aluminum panels that are precoated with clearcoat at the Alcoa plant. That means that the rivets are not coated.
I would treat the trailer as though it is clearcoated. Wash with lots of water till all abrasive dirt is flushed off and then wax.

We are leaving on Tuesday for Georgia and hope to arrive on Thursday. Going to take a scenic drive down. Maybe do a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Al

BigAl...
The first part of Blue Ridge is called Skyline Drive and most consider it the same, as we do.
I recommend it for a sample section based on the amount of bears we have seen in the mornings driving along.
All of BRP is great, the last 50+/- miles has lots of tunnels and ends in the mountians at Cherokee, NC

that is one of my favorite drives. We did part of it in our Classic 280 MOhO and had a great drive.
I hear the lake is full! Plus its been raining here for 24 hours now.
Sun in Bonita Springs huh.
Made a new dinette table for the trailer and put it in today, now if I could get some weather to let me work on the outside some more..maybe tomorrow.

Murphy's Law

Unfortunately, my TV sheared it's driveshaft joint/rear axle joint this morning at 6am. We'll see if my wrenching skills are up to the task this week. I need to fix the root cause as well, which is a driveline vibrtation. Thinking either the transmission mount, motor mounts, or both.

Fortunately, I was able to roll downhill from the stoplight into an empty bank parking lot. If I had been on an incline, I'd've been in deep do.

59 HUH...My age in temperature. Wear your flannels to the brunch and tour of homes. We will serve hot chocolate from Shannon's cool coco loco machine.
Hope the mechanical stuff gets fixed and you all can make it.

Made a little more progress on my blue stripe mess using Kleen strip. It outdid the aircraft stripper ( from the same company) and I can almost see a shiny rear logo area on the trailer ....
Also hung a kitchen curtain, added a small piece of molding outside, and tightend up a spot on the bellly pan.
Got a cool tv tuner to watch tv on our laptop. Now we can leave our older 13" tv home.

Hitting the Road

We're leaving in a few minutes from our home in Panama City, Florida headed north. Stopping for 2 nights at Roosevelt State Park (will see Callaway Gardens while there). Then on to Hiawassee arriving midday Thursday. Looking forward to our first Springstream!
