Seward Bluff C.G.
Tom, I went by the campground today and the camp host told me that they have a group coming in starting Tuesday. It is the Vagabond campers but he wasn't sure how long they planned on being there or how many were coming. FYI, Ed

Hello fellow airstreamers,
Can you add one more to the "save-a-spot" list? We won't be up there till Friday evening 9:00ish (maybe earlier if Dave can bug out of work early). I will bring a Greek Salad (if no one else is) for Saturday potluck. Looking forward to it! Also, we are newbies and welcome any advice on backing up!

Rather than take a lot of space trying to explain how to back up when you get here there are many of us lots of experience will help better than doing it here. Bill

Five units here. The days have been good, but rain at night. But we're camping.
Wednesday nite we had a Can cooked dinner and tonight we had pizzas that Cale had made and brought. We even have "leftovers". Sue made a Chocolate cake, GOOD.
Now let's see what Friday will bring for eats; burgers, brats hot dogs ??????
Bill, Penny, Pickles, ? see you then.

Hi Tom,
Wife and I have a 65 safari undergoing resto. Knew it would not be ready this time around. We did drive through Seward campground around 12:30 today as we were at Pec fairgrounds. my inlaws sell primitive furniture there.
I saw some nice airstreams but no one around. I bet everyone was as Pec! We hope you all have a great time. We hope next time well be there!

Hope everyone is back home safe and sound after the Rally.
We've unloaded, washed the smoky clothes, cleaned the mud from a bunch of stuff and are looking forward to something other than a "Navy Shower" in wet bath.
Thanks to everyone who came out. I'll post a recap in a couple of days.
Tom.

Another thanks for a "Great Weekend". Looking forward for the "Fall Rally in Northern Illinois". The time has been set for Columbus day weekend, and place is tentative for Lowden State Park.
We are moving because the Winnebago Forest Preserve District does not appear to be receptive to campers with their high fees and out of county surcharge. (electric $8.00 and the $10.00 per night surcharge). Sites are grass with water hydrants and dump station. The electric is shared, but far apart..

Disspite the rough reception $$$ we had a great time camping with a great group of people. It seems everyone had a little pre-season trouble with their campers but plenty of knowledge all around got everyone trailer back in working shape. Just to clarify the distaste for our usual Winnebago county parks gatherings spring and fall, each trailer previously paid $13 a night with electric, no shower house. To our surprise, the 2014 season rate is $29 a night, over double! So we will be moving on and heading to Lowden, the reservable sites will be nice. Can't wait!

As Cale stated $29 handicap & srs. others $31 per nite non campers $30 to dump County res. fees less, only thing didn't chrg. for was muddy sites. All had exc. time in spite of high fees & mud w/lots to eat all day. several AS owners stopped by & visited & 1 new AStreamer joined us for weekend. Saw rollover between Rochelle & Dekalb on way home all indications fatal. Glad all made home safely. See every one at Moraine view in 3 Weeks or Lowden S.P. [Oregon Il.] In Oct. Bill

Rally Recap
Sue and I, and Mike and Dana arrived early Wednesday afternoon to a soggy but practically empty campground.
The Vagabond Group had taken up residence on the East Side of the park. We staked out the higher, drier section on the South side.
When the Campground Host came to collect we found the campsite rates had increased a couple of bucks for residents, wood and electricity, but, there was essentially a $10.00 a night surcharge for none residents. This effectively raised the rates 100%.
The host told us the rates were even more for parks with more “Amenities”.
With a light rain that evening we stayed inside for dinner.
Thursday morning we were treated to one of the Amenities, lawn service. A pair of Deere front end deck mowers started cutting the grass, shoving around tables and circling the same trees and cutting the same grass over and over in the drizzle at 7:30 AM. Despite the loud droning some might have considered it Entertainment.

Most of the rest of the Group arrived that afternoon. Thursday’s dinner was graciously provided by Cale in the form of pizza from his restaurant. We added extra toppings and cooked them in portable pizza ovens on the picnic tables. Nothing like freshly cooked pizza on a cool evening. Thanks Cale.
BTW if you’re ever in the area stop in to one of Cale and Amy’s restaurants in Wauconda or Island Lake. Varied menu and excellent food.

Friday the last of the Airstreamers arrived. Bill brought in some decent wood so we had a good fire going that night. Nubies Dave and Linda were the last to arrive and we got them set up after dark.
Saturday morning the weather finally turned nice. We all headed out to the Pec Thing Flea Market. Picked a few new treasures, headed back to camp and got ready for the Potluck.
That afternoon Big Ed 52, harleyjoe3 and DIAMOND49 dropped by to say hi, check out the trailers and shoot the breeze for a while. Hope you can get your Airstreams on the road and join us in the Fall.

Saturday night was our usual feast with more than the usual abundance of desserts. Dana arranged a plate of Peeps to be sacrificed, I mean roasted, over the fire later in the evening. FYI they don’t puff up as much as in the microwave but taste much better.
