Greetings Airstreamers. Time to shake off the cabin fever and start thinking about

Spring Camping Trips

Come join us for the Annual Spring Gathering at Pecatonica in northern Illinois May 20, 21 and 22.
This quiet County Park is located between Rockford and Freeport and is an easy drive from Chicago, Eastern Iowa and Southern Wisconsin.
Sites have 30 amp electric, water hydrants throughout the park to fill your tanks when you arrive, and a dump station. Check out the parks webpage for some of the other amenties. http://www.wcfpd.org/preserves/pecatonica-river/
Spend the days checking out the local activities, indulge youself at the potluck dinners and swap stories around the fires at night.

we'll be there! we need the rest before our memorial day opener! I have seen lots of airstream trailers in lake county, if you are reading this get it together and hang out with a great crowd at a super relaxed park.

Welcome aboard. Hope to see you there. There are about 9 units so far. We are going in on Thursday. There are NO reservations at the park. Elect on site and several h20 outlets Not hook ups and a dump station.

aswbe tell us about your airstream, we seen all types at the ralleys, form really nice to nice, ours is somewhere in between. Mike did you post the ralley on tac? Can anyone cook pizzas?

Cale; Tom has a grate, I have 2 and there is the one on the firebox. We could line them with foil and bake over wood. We could do about 4 at a time.
I tried to get this on TAC but it woul;dn't let me post.

Ian, Carolyn, Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new Airstream.

Cale, Mike. I've got a grate with legs and a tripod with an adjustable grate we could try. Never did a pizza over a fire. Verrry interesting.
Looking forward to getting out and 'streaming. Sue's been asking, "Is it time to go camping yet?"

She's also been asking if the trailer will be ready.

She doesn't want to look inside while its apart.
The new plumbing is in and the rebuilt sink cabinet is in its final stages.

Cale, pizza sounds good at the outing, something new the group has not tried.
Pretzels rolls would also be great too.
Cant wait to see Paden Iam sure he has gotten so big.

Pizza Parlor Theme? Old Chicago style with straw hats and red checked table cloths and root beer floats...balloons with feet? anybody feeling me on this? Bueller?

Anyhow, it is on our calendar and we'll be there with our pizza fixings and hubs 1337 dough makin' skillz. We've been trying to perfect this recipe for philly cheesesteak pizza for a while now. Should be lots of fun!

Italian Dinner/Pizza Night?

I think we’re on to something here. Checkered table clothes and decorations shouldn’t be a problem.
Pizza. Sausage and Peppers. Pasta.

Sorry I am a little late in replying to questions. We have an '08 25' Safari SE. We took it out last weekend for the first time to the State part near St Louis, Pierre Marquette, only 10 other campers in 80 spots. Felt like 30 mph cross winds coming and going but it pulled like there was nothing behind us.
All systems worked fine until we noticed a leak coming from under the shower. I have not had the time to trouble shoot but the forums here (some 10pgs worth) seem to point to seal issues around the door vs plumbing leaks. Other than that it was an enjoyable experience and our list of forgotten things although long is manageable. Most enjoyable feature is the wrap around windows. Stopped at the way side table near Beardstown and had lunch in the trailer with a beautiful view out the windows...beats our usual stop at Mac D's.

Landmammal ,I gather you have done pizzas before over the open fire. This will be the first time the group has tried this. I have been working on our decorations for this event. Along with the pizzas I think everyone should bring an Italian dish whether it be an appetizer, main dish or dessert as well as some pizza fixings, any thoughts?

We have not done pizza over open fire, only in the oven. I do have a portable pizza oven, though it might draw too many amps for camping, I am not sure, but will bring it in case. We're willing to experiment with open fire pizza right along with you. Should be a lot of fun.
