Spring Brunch in Northern Illinois

I will plan on bringing Steam Burgers for the Saturday night potluck. I am almost afraid to think about my arrival time on Friday as I will be towing with my 34 year-old Cadillac -- it doesn't take to being pushed too well. Will likely start my journey on Thursday with one night on the road -- don't want to push my luck -- the old sealed beam headlights aren't much fun after getting accustomed to the more powerful units in our modern cars so I try to avoid driving after dark with this rig.

Well I had another window shatter. Now I have half plastic, half glass in the trailer.....
Just received my manual crank and owners manual for the late 60's power jack. Parts and service still available!!!! I have to get through this weekend before I can start planning for the Spring gathering.

Kevin, will you be bringing the Overlander or Minuet?? Glad to see you are coming. We will keep you and the Caddy in our prayers.

It will be the Cadillac towing the Overlander this time. The Overlander had its turn for some over-due TLC this spring -- New blackwater tank to replace the one that was fractured when entering my side drive from the county highway with the deep dip at my drive entrance -- New Marinco 30 AMP power inlet -- New aluminum wheels (cheaper than having my existing steel wheels powder coated) -- and finally (I hope) new Carlisle Radial Trail LT trailer tires. The Cadillac has been through its spring ritual plus new CVJ boots, overhauled power steering pump, new front rotors, and new speedometer cable.

My first Rally for the season is this weekend near Rend Lake at Whittington Woods RV Park. Should have been my third, but I turned up sick for the first and my rig was experiencing sway issues that I had to troubleshoot when I should have been traveling to the second.

Luna's almost ready

We brought Luna home Thursday and I've beee busy cleaning her out.. when Sue started this thread she said "shake out the cobwebs" and she wasn't kidding!

Plus a few mouse poopies, but nothing lke what I feared. I found one small mousie nest in a kitchen dishcloth I had used for packing between some glasses.

In any case, electric is working, plumbing is fine.. no leaks.. battery is charged! Air conditioner fired right up.... pretty good for a girl as old as her! She's 42 :-)

Now Gary has two small disasters to take care of, which, as we all know, will either go just fine OR turn into HUGE disasters.. he broke the leg on the gaucho and he broke the collar on the cone light over his bed.

Tom has been working hard all weekend on the new trailer, and at this point in time we believe she will be travel ready. Some things still need to be fixed and hopefully we will accomplish this on Monday. Water could possibly be an issue due to a problem with the the pump. Let's hope Tom can fix it.See everyone soon. The weather outlook seems good.

Please advise us about the location of the Airstream rally in Pecatonica next weekend. Will signs direct us to the site of the Airstreamers? What park or place are we looking for in Pecatonica? We're virgins at this. Please be gentle. ; -)

It would be easier to take US20 west to Il 18 (Il State police hq on left and Pecatonica to the right) this is a stop light intersection. Follow through the town of Pecatonica to School Brick Road (?) there is a Blue sign "camping" turn right and follow past the Winnebago Maintainance bldg and SLOW down as you will come on the enterance fast.
Hope to see you all. I will be there Thurs noonish.

Greetings Steve and Linda. Glad you will be joining us this weekend, it will be nice to have a new member to our group.
All of us we new to Airstreams at one point in time and we are still learning. We just picked up our second one and we're learning all over again.
We come north through Pecatonica and turn right on Brick School Road. One thing that threw us off the first time was that when Brick School turns left at it's end it changes to Judd. The entrance to the park is about a 1/4 mile after the bend.

Remember Saturday nite is our potluck dinner, please remember to have your own meat cooked and ready to eat at 6:00 or whatever time we all agree. Also remember to have a dish to pass. Safe trip to all, see you soon.

Departure

Tom just came in after getting soaking wet and proclaimed that we are as ready as we will ever be with the new trailer.
Everthing seems to work except the shower, so we will try to stay down wind.

Spring Brunch in Northern Illinois

Murphy's Law has been busy. Three different things came up this morning that will keep me tied up here at the farm until late this afternoon. Given the flurry of activity, I won't be able to make it up to Pecatonica.

Another Great Forum Rally

What a great weekend! Hope you all arrived home safely.
We had the perfect combination of weather, AirHeads(as the camp host calls us), food and fun.
I’ve just finished uploading pics to the computer and I’ll post them after a bit of editing.

Thanks to everyone,
Tom and Sue.

us too

It was exactly the way Sue started the thread.. "shake the cobwebs out".. literally! Weather was great, although we cut our stay one day short due to incoming storms. Our weekends, due to our business, start Sunday.

Now if I could just figure out where in the camper those GREMLINS live.. the lid is missing from my sugar container and I left it right on the counter. It was on the container, I opened the container, and the lid disappeared into thin air.

Then, mysteriously, the top of the table holding my big plastic alien nightlight got cracked almost in half. It was fine when I put it togther ( 70's modular ) but is really cracked now. Not sure if it's repairable.. I've had that table for years and years.

And one of Sue's pink flamingos at the entrance to the park is missing.. maybe it' s hiding out with the lid to my sugar container?
