update

Greetings Airstreamers,
Current roster of reservations according to Big Elk, attached, shows 13 sites claimed with 4 parties apparently not yet reserved. Since Big Elk will hold our Rally allotment until March 30, we are extending the target for signing up on the Air Forums Rally calendar until then. Meeting that target just makes you eligible for the drawing the first prize in our free raffle after the Saturday dinner. Anyone could still make their reservation and attend our Rally as long as a site remains available anywhere in the RV Park.

We set up the enticement to sign up early on our Air Forums calendar so all of us could see who plans to attend including those using Facebook. It is an Air Forums Rally and those not yet members are encouraged to join our network. Jane reports that some Facebook users have had difficulty joining Air Forums, although it is free, and logging in to the calendar page so she decided to change the rules. Now Facebook folks will be able to qualify for the first prize drawing as long as they let Jane know they would attend by our target date.

The attached roster includes all with a Big Elk reservation. “TKTS” indicates our current count of Saturday dinner tickets so far but verify if we have your count right.

Thanks!
Jim

Hoss

Not far from our Rally is Hoss's RV Repair & Restorations, 145 Hwy 62, Rogers, AR, now specializing in Airstreams. We visited with Hoss yesterday to cut a deal on an awning. He is truly enthusiastic about Airstreams, trailers in particular. He often has units for sale so if you are seeking a project, subscribe to his Facebook page. Check out nwaairstream.com
The best vintage currently on his lot is a '63 Ambassador 26' with good bones and excellent skin condition. interior mostly in place.

We're coming in on Thursday afternoon and are reserved in site A-31 but may change after we get there if too far away. Bringing our kayaks...fingers crossed for good weather! 2 tickets for dinner on Saturday night and we'll bring a give-away gift. Looking forward to it!

Thumbs up Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Twenty miles from Big Elk is a premier art museum with beautiful architecture in a natural setting. The mission of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is to welcome all to celebrate the American spirit in a setting that unites the power of art with the beauty of nature. The historical part of permanent collection has been reimagined and is now open. Admission is free. A temporary exhibit "Soul of a Nation, Art in the Age of Black Power" closes April 23. There are also great hiking trails with art integrated into the landscape. If you have not been lately, you need to experience it!

Wink Free kids!

No we are not giving children away but Charla agreed that there would be no added reservation charge for children 12 & under. We hope this encourages families with children to join us.

Talking Optional Dining, Thursday, April 19

On Thursday evening April19, for those interested, we could request a group dinner reservation for 6:00 pm at Haven 55, 408 Havenhurst Drive, Pineville. Billed as “Casual Fine Dining” the restaurant has very positive reviews. The first 20 persons could be included with an option for a 7:30 pm group if desired. See: http://www.haven55.com/index.html
Since Jane & I will be at Big Elk on Wednesday, April 18, please let us know if you wish to be included before that date. Let us know if you have spare capacity for carpooling or if you need a ride. Our truck could carry another couple.
Cheers!

Update

We have 18 sites reserved so far, see updated list. A couple of others may still register. We understand each party needs 2 tickets for Saturday dinner. Two additional tickets will be reserved for a potential late reservation.
Looking 10 days ahead, weather looks like spring, highs in mid-60’s and lows in 40’s to 50’s. Showers on Friday & Saturday shows a 40% chance of no rain. Forecasts that far ahead often change but having our traditional open house on Saturday morning might not be wise.
Here’s the draft itinerary:
• Thursday, 6 pm – those who wish go to dinner at Haven 55. So far 8 of us have signed up. The Pavilion is available for our use.
• Friday – Enjoy the floating & fishing recreation of Big Elk, go see the Pea Ridge National Military Park or hang out with fellow Airstreamers.
• Friday, 6 pm – Munch & Mingle at the Pavilion. Bring snacks to share and your own beverage. With the latest forecast we could vote on whether to have our Airstream tours on Saturday.
• Saturday, 10am to 12 noon. Airstream tours??
• Saturday, 11 am – Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is an ideal experience for a rainy day. As you enter, go to the lower level parking to be under cover. When there is a break in the rain, hit the museum trails or go tour downtown Bentonville.
• Saturday, 6 pm – Cowboy Catering dinner at the Pavilion. Bring your own utensils, beverage and, if you wish, a salad, side or desert to share. Dinner will be followed by a free raffle, 1 ticket per Airstream, with great prizes. Pick the item you prefer when your number is called.
Volunteer to organize the fall Air MidWest Rally!
• Sunday – See you down the road.

Dinner at Haven 55

Is it too late to add us to the dinner at Haven 55? There would be two of us.

Thumbs up

Charla says Haven55 is fabulous! Reservations still gladly accepted. So far we have 12 of us and room for 8 more. Let's plan on starting from the Big Elk Pavilion at 6:00 pm, either in your vehicle or walk to catch a ride. It's a short drive and we will make our reservations for 6:15pm.

Charla confirmed that a campfire is allowed near the Pavilion which should be pleasant on these cooler than average evenings. At least we are not out there now with a high of 45˚another hard freeze in the morning. Looks now like showers will hold off until Saturday.

I responded on the Facebook post but wanted to make sure you have us down for Thursday night dinner too.

Alan, we will miss you! Your door prize will probably be the first choice of attendees.
