Thanks Cris. That's the plan, but of course all things have challenges. It appears that at some point in the past 40 years, some rocket surgeon swapped out the wheels for some with the incorrect offset, and the tires are rubbing on the inner fenders. Crap. First order of business tomorrow morning is to find different wheels or spacers to make the ones I have fit. I'm not a fan of spacers, but if it gets me on the road I'll live with them.

If you are planning to arrive at the park on Thursday, please be aware that the Amgen Tour of California bike race will be going on that day in the area. This is a big race with stages all over California. Stage 5 will begin at 11:45 AM on Thursday on the Pismo Pier in downtown Pismo and will end in Santa Barbara.

There will be intermittent road closures in Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, and Arroyo Grande. I would imagine Highway 1 through downtown Pismo will be traffic hell for awhile. I have a call in to the City of Pismo to find out what streets will be closed and at what times.

The good news is if you are arriving later in the afternoon, it shouldn't be a problem. The race should be out of the area by 12:30 or 1:00. I was planning on getting there at about noon on Thursday, so I will either delay my plans or come in through a different route...probably Grand Ave. as I think that road will remain open. If I find anything else out I will post it.

If you get there on Wednesday or early Thursday AM, head over to the pier and check out the race start. It's fun to watch! Here is a link to the Amgen Tour race route...not a lot of detail though. AMGEN Tour of California :: Stage 5 - Pismo Beach to Santa Barbara

Redthies it appears. Your coming down from BC. We live about 150 miles south of Pismo. If you have issues on what appears to be your maden voyage your welcome to work the bugs out at our place. We have quite a few tools that you can use if needed. Good luck, look forward to meeting you and seeing your trailer. Cris

Thanks Cris! I will have a bunch of tools on board (not just the wife and dogs!), so should be in good shape. We got tires that actually fit today, and hope to be on the road by noon tomorrow. Long days of driving followed by bits of construction at rest areas... Sounds like fun, no? We love Northbeach so it will be worth the effort...

We had a blast - Thanks Cris!

No time to post specific pictures here, so you get to tour my facebook album - it's public so you don't have to be a friend to see them. I'm not sure you even need a facebook account. Anyway, I'll post some pics directly in the thread in about a week - I'll be out of town until then.

Thanks for organizing this Cris. We had a great time visiting with you and Kimmie and everyone. I counted 16 Airstreams at North Beach Campground, including your Avion and the Argosy, not to mention all the other vintage trailers. The 300 or so Airstreams and other old trailers at the Vintage Rally next door were wonderful. There were some beauties there! We should do this again next year!

Thanks Cris and Kimmy for an awesome Rally!! Even though we were only able to show up (sans Airstream) for a short bit, we had a blast!!! We are so in for next year -- just let us know when we can make our reservations!!

Hi Sarajane! There are a few every year, some are reoccurring events, and some pop up here and there.

Here is a link to one that I host in October, I think it's the next annual one:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...-a-115702.html

There is also one in August at Courtright Resevior, and another next March in Three Rivers.

If you check the rally calendar they are usually listed under So Cal.

It's a very fun, casual group. We hope to see you out there.

Pismo 2015??

I didn't see a thread for Pismo 2015 -- does anyone have details on dates yet? I believe someone mentioned Nov 1 as the opening date for reservations - we'd love to come again and actually bring our Airstream this year

I don't believe the dates for the Pismo Vintage Rally have been announced yet but I would imagine that will happen very soon. Pismo Coast Village starts reservations for May on November 1st as well, so the vintage trailer folks should be gearing up. Definitely time to start thinking about it!

Pismo Coast Village RV Resort

Just confirmed the dates with Pismo Coast Village. The Rally dates are May 15th and 16th with the open house being held on the 16th.

Here are a few alternative RV Resorts recommended by the gal at Pismo Coast
(incase you can't get a beach site)

Holiday (805)773-1121
Pismo Sands (800) 404-7004
Coastal Dunes (805) 781-4900
Pacific Dunes (805)489-77827

Hope this helps!

As of right now, it appears as though there are about a half dozen sites left at the Pismo State Beach North Beach Campground, so they are going fast. If you are planning on staying at North Beach during the 2015 Vintage Trailer Rally held at Pismo Coast Village, now would be a good time to make your reservation. The reservation period starts on Friday, 5/15 so you can only book dates of 5/15 and later. If you are planning to arrive on Thurday, 5/14 or sooner, the sites are walkup only and you cannot book those dates. If you try it will show the whole campground as unavailable.

Cris, are you and Kimmy planning to attend? Hope so!! If you do, are you going to set up a new rally thread like you mentioned in a previous post?

Jan and I are in site 32.
