Thumbs up Slab City

Just pulled into Slab City today.

It's nice this time of year, high 60's at night, low 80's day.

Yea yea I know, you would rather have a molar pulled, we all know how you feel about the Slabs.

I'm talking to those who might take comfort in knowing there is someone normal to hang with and show ya the ropes .

I'll be here till TQ Day

PS, as soon as I find that "someone who is normal" I let you know.

Michael,

Slab City is on my list of must visits. I've seen it in trad media and around the net. My curiosity is piqued. Please provide reports from SC whenever your can.

I hope the place inspires more art from you.

Yes Dave, there is a lot of talent here. From Engineers, Machinists, Artists and Musicians, to Crack heads and Runaways the hopeless and the lost. I'll post some pictures for the armchair travelers.

I myself have designed (what else) the Un-official Slab City Tee shirt. Ahh, commerce in Barter Town

Michael,

Slab City is great! One of our favorite places. Anywhere you can look around your trailer and see a mix that goes from Marathons to tents with a solar panel is the place to be.

Which "Tract" are you in?

That was helpful Aage, for those of us who are not "in the know".

Michael, pictures would be great if you can find the time.

And youtube has plenty of video. slabs was featured prominently in the movie titled 'Roam Sweet Home'. see Mobilus Media

the movie (documentary) features a women traveling with her dog (dogs perspective) and was my first introduction to the slabs. any airstreamer movie buff would want this movie in their dvd collection.

The "TIP" holding tank is the houses, it pays for the gas to run the genny, which run the lights and amplifiers. At least that's what I was told.

PS, It's bolted down

Great timing on the thread, Michael. We're heading out to the West Coast at the end of December. Slab City, and the Salton Sea, already had a prominent place on the long list of off the chart places to see. (I'm hoping the entire journey is 'off the chart'). My wife tells me I should fit right in. Looking forward to the pictures, and hearing about your adventures.
