Must Cancel Blanco State Park Christmas Rally

We've come down with colds as of this morning, Wednesday and will have to cancel out for the Blanco State Park Christmas Rally.
I do not want to give this to anyone!
This would have been our first time to attend this rally, and we were looking forward to it and meeting some of you folks.

Wishing you all the best of rallys---will see you down the road,

Harvey & Gail Craig

I am just resuming a normal routine after my cold that lasted about 2 weeks, it seems to be somthing that's going around. There is a product "Zicam", it really slowed the sniffles and helped alot.

We really don't "preassign" - whatever you are comfotable with - dessert, casserol, beans, spare ribs and sourkraut? - just pick either your favorite or your specialty.

Interesting is ALWAYS better than expensive - about 10 bucks is a nominal amount - I might add that the farmers market around the square during the parade on Saturday morning always offers some choices should you show up in a quandry and have not yet decided on something....it's not the gift - it's the argueing over it that makes it "good".

Looking forward to meeting you and other first-timers...and certainly to see others who have participated in the past.

What a GREAT time we had!!!

A total of 14 rigs were in attendance - 13 from the Forums, and one "Airstream of Opportunity" - and, yes, we recruited one more trailer for the Forum....

In no particular order - here are pics of the trailers that were in Blanco for the get-together.

Vssummy - Joseph and Victoria

Tx Toaster - David and Betty - their son Joel with their "Project" '92 Excella

Silver Dreams - Zack and Sarah - a great renovation under way. Also, it is generally believed that Zack, Joel (above) and Andy (Austin Air) tied for the "Most Beer Consumed" award.

Santart - Frank and Angela (the parents of Sarah, above). Frank brought a great Dutch Oven dish for the dinner.

Mike and Lora: (R to L Cindi, Lora, and Peg)

Larry and Caroline:

John and Betty - surprise attendees from Nebraska - snowbirding their way south:

JDH350 - Johnny and Connie - from the Houston area:

Gerald Clay - and his lovely wife Karen:

Catstream - PeterH even showed up!!

Carnegie1935 - with a friend and daughter in tow - Kay "won" the "oldest driver" award. You go girl!!

BambiBandit - Kevin, Prim Li, and both of the pups - showed up with a new King Ranch with a Hensley - Oh, a NEW trailer, also.

Austin Air - Andy and Jennifer: another work in progress

87mh - Mary and Dennis - with ALL of the pups:

If anyone did NOT have a good time - they didn't show it!

Thanks to all for making it a truely memorable Rally.

Highlights of the weekend

This is the way Airstreaming is SUPPOSED to be!!!

Next to Santa arriving on the mini-excavator, I think the highlight of the weekend was the "Pot Luck" and the "New Rules" Gift Steal errr Exchange.

If anyone finished the night hungry, it was NOT for lack of choice OR quantity.

Peter, as usual, volunteered his hat for the "picking". LoraR chose the numbers, and Kay (Carnegie1935) took over JohnBaker's job of deciding which present went next.

I hope I included everyone in the pictures - I tried to get a shot of just about every angle. Unfortunately, many of the pics posted below did not capture everyones "best" angle - please accept my apologies and focus on each individuals face.

Below, the Primary Present Providers - Kay, Peter, and Lora, with Kevin - in the backround, keeping them "honest" - yeah, right...

So many people showed up with funny lights on their heads I thought someone was shooting a remake of one of the "Aliens Invade" movies...

The food, above, was outstanding in both quality and quantity.

There were some great presents - some regifts, and couple of voo doo possesed chickens, but most of all, a great time arguing over which gift was the "best", how many times the puppet flamingo was stolen, and who will provide the rules for NEXT years' Blanco Christmas Steal.

The bottom line was, I enjoyed it so much I cannot wait for December of 2009 to roll around -

Merry Christmas To All

...and thanks to all who were there for sharing a great weekend.

Thanks Dennis for all the great pictures. I was so busy visiting that I forgot to take many pictures.

Sandy, Luvenia and I all had a great time. We also are looking forward to Dec 2009.

The couple from Neb. told me this am that they will try to see us again in 2009

We made it home safely. Cold as Kraut this AM in the park. It rained on us a couple of times on the way home,. No problems and I will get my suspension fixed shortly.

See Ya down the road and keep in touch.

Thanks again to everyone and especially Dennis for a great rally

Kay

Thanks for a great time

Thanks to Dennis and all for showing us a great time.

This was a perfect way to start our journey to California... Now we are in AZ trying to avoid the rain and snow in the region...

Look forward to seeing everyone next year.

Does anyone remember who made the great pea salad on Friday night. I would love to have that recipe. It was great.

Kay,

here it is:

1 (16 oz.) can French-style green beans, drained
1 (17 oz.) can LeSueur early peas, drained
1 (12 oz. or larger) can white Shoe Peg corn, drained
1/2 c. celery, chopped
1/2 c. onion, chopped
1 yellow or orange bell pepper, chopped
1 small jar chopped pimentos

In a med. size bowl, mix ingredients as listed and add the following:

1/2 c. vinegar
1/2 c. oil
3/4 c. sugar

Marinate at least 2 hours in refrigerator or best overnight. This salad lasts for several days in the refrigerator.

This salad was featured in the Houston Post Food Section on October 20, 1983.

Glad you enjoyed the salad, Johnny and I enjoyed visiting with you, see you down the road!

Connie

Thanks Connie. This was so very good and so different from my usual pea salad. I will make this for Christmas dinner.

We sure enjoyed having you and Johnny with us at Blanco. We always have such a great time together. try to see us again next year.

Merry Christmas and a great New Year ahead.
