I am not brave enough to take a SOLO trip, but I am very happy to know that I can tow -forward - and can, with help, hitch her up. Have never taken a trip w/o rustyrivet and don't know if I could. I am also happy to see the many gals that are streaming by themselves. Maybe doing that myself someday-hope not.

Yipee Terry! You Tow Girl. First solo, congrats.

Sempi and Victorial, great hearing from you and that you gals tow too.

My DH is returning from his work camping position after season's end and should be pulling in tomorrow! So yeah I'd have to agree it's fun to have them around to share experiences. 40 years next July for us, not counting the dating years. Did I say 40? I am only 29. (x2)

That's one of the things I love about traveling is being on the road and seeing all the different trucks and stopping at the truck stops, like Iowa 80. Hey do you have some favorite truckin'/travelin' songs? Oh the stories you could tell us!! We'll have to rally some day.

Besides bookmarking the thread you can also use the forums search engine for Silver Sisters Online Rally.

I always wanted to see the back of the cab. I guess you are used to close quarters. What size Airstream are you looking for and do you know what you will use as a tow vehicle? I have seen several combination AS/TV packages for sale recently.

I didn't think about bookmarking it lol.

Oh I have stories some happy and some sad. No songs though unless you like queen. I drove nights there were 4 teams we the ladies had nights and we did 3 way calls and talked the night away. I miss the road terribly and my friends but we talked weekly still. I got hurt in 2005 and the company we worked for drug it out until they managed to waste the time where it became a permanant disablity have to let that go now. But we had fun and made great money but spent nost on college (did not realize I would never go back to work or the economy lol) we used to do our driving exercisers going down the interstate. The back of the cab the bunk is a mattress a bit bigger than a twin not much, You have enough space to stand and get dressed the hugs closet all 24 in of it had 3 wanna be drawers under it so on the top bunk we had a plastic drawer thing, microwave, refridg, another plastic thing for food. above the little desk thing was our tv. Not sure how I did it but I had 30days worth of clothes and food on there and 4 yorkies.

I have told all my friends that we have crossed over which means we are now the nasty snowbirders getting in the way, taking truck parking hehehe I love it but that is a joke among many of us that we would retire and be road obstacles ... trust me it is scary to be behind 80k lbs and passing a travel trailer or the motor home that is on the line but the day I was hugging the throne in a rest area a dear little snowbirder was there at my aid ... she was such a dear so those are the stories I cherish from the road is the ones of human compasion as for the most part it is gone

I still remember being in Montana was snowing and there were 2 teens sitting outside the T/S finally asked them what was up and they were stranded, hungry ... I did the mother thing called the cops as they were run aways but fed them.

The wrecks out there are what I will never forget and that is what I want to forget ... like sitting there watching them pull out 6 teens all of them gone ..just because they were being stupid out on I35 knowing that within minutes their parents safe at home would be getting that call

The worst was the morning we got that call ... was our daughters fiancee, it was so strange as the wreck happened 1 hr after we had just driven that part of the hwy.

making up things to cook .. we have some weird things but dang good.

I could write a book on it all. Funny thing we never really lived in the hosue we bought .... moving into a AS will be like moving into a mansion. I will be driving a red dodge with a 34 ft trl instead of a red KW with a 53 ft trailer ...

We will be picking up our AS next week I hope... have some ideas on extra insulating like in the bedroom putting batting up and convering it with fabric or a prety sheet and do the same in other areas of it ... To be honest I am scared ...

I think you are going to be more than just alright. You have had experiences that must have instilled a high level of preparedness in your years on the road and all you have encountered, moving into the palace will be a slam dunk for you.

My, my! I can't imagine a month of clothes in that small of area. I waaaay overpack on clothes and I think the 27' is too small on storage at times.

What internet browser are you using? We can probably steer you in the direction of bookmarking or saving to favorites.

Funny how your buds will tease you as an RVer now...road obstacles I can sympathize I have lollygagged about on occassion. How about that time I pulled into the weigh station because it said trailers here and I thought it was a rest stop then blew right by the man in the building...EMBARRASSING!!!

I like your extra insulation ideas. I think I would like to add. I was thinking inside storm (plexiglass) windows of some type and blanket fabric on velcro to attach to mouse fur walls. in a couple of areas, maybe even boxed valances to enclose window drafts instead of shooting the cold air down and across. Changing the sheets as wall coverings really opens up a lot of pretty decor ideas and easier than wall papering. I would like to see what you do.

Congratulations on your new rig. I hope you post pictures.

oh I learned to live in a box for sure. The best way to do clothes is to roll them as tight as you get them.

One thing about the weigh station at least you were legal ... one day I was tired coming out of OR with a Hazmat and blew the scales .. now that guy was not happy and they came to visit me, did not even offer me coffee. What the obstacle for us is when someone pulls out in front of us like we might not stop but cars are just as guilty as anyone else. I know where myt friends stop and I am going to make a point to be a obstacle

I am not much on browsers .. this is a sprint card we had on the truck not sure if I will need it now so may stop it.

I have been racking my brains on the insulating issues. DH is set on the AS just as I am main reason is when he is gone it still can be a home or will at least hold it's value. I found some heavy fabric at joanns is apholstry fabric (need spell check) thinking I could get that insulation that is in a roll and use a staple gun put it up then do the fabric. They had like rolled gold stuff where you could hot glue it around the edges just a thought now for the front of the trailer I am not sure will know when I see it. Right now I am having to do all the work and decisions and gosh I am so scattered and pray I am making the right decisions. There is no time to really research just have to hope and pray I am doing this right ... now we will bring the trailer to TX and I will try all this and take pics figure by the time Dec gets here we will be ready to go so first stop will be FL I think have to check he wants to go Tarpin fishing then he was to go fly fishing then I guess we will go to the dunes in CA have to get all this in a order. oh I forgot he wants to go back to WY to frontier days have to see when that is as I forgot then to PA he wanted to do the civil war thing. lol I hope this all works. I like the Plexiglass idea but wonder how you do that... I know I can do the fabric oh darn forgot I have to figure out the sway hitch thing and the ball shoot and the dodge is wired for the horse trailer lights and electric brakes wonder if the AS will fit that ... oops have to call the ins dude forgot that ...

I was thinking of the boxed valance that would work now my brain is ticking again ..

I was trying to figure out if we could put a platform on the back of the AS to put a hoverround on... not sure who to ask about that.

now if you ever need packing tips I can help there ... I sure did have a lot on the truck.. kitchen,den,bedroom... forgot kept 2 comforters and 5 sets of sheets and a sub zero sleeping bag on it too

I just noticed your in MI .. funny my accident was in Battle Creek and we will be going back in May to stay with an old friend for a few days or week...

Smile tossing another log on the fire

Hey sisters,

Nice to see how things are with everyone!! Sharon, my last yak trip was awesome at Wilderness, OMG I could not have had a better paddle, Dave and dad with me. We loved it! Great that you can be present for your dad.

Georgia, I think the world of you! Your mom must be so happy to be with you!

Our trailer is winterized, but I keep thinking a lottery win would send us down south in a minute!!

How about some cider and donuts for the fire?

Thanks Steph! These are good doughnuts!! Brad did some kayaking in Wisconsin this summer and really enjoyed it. We have you to thank for our interest after trying it out last year.

Victoria if you are here in Michigan in May we should definitely try to get together. There are quite a few of us here in Michigan and Northern Ohio!

There were some older threads on putting things onto the rear of the Airstream. I don't know if that would cause rear separation on the unit.

Oh please share the packing ideas because I am horrendous with stowing things. I spent two months this summer with an extra box of stuff moving it around instead of finding places to store the various items.

extra goodies

I brought my extra Halloween goodies to share by the fire. The little "beggars" did not get all of them. I will pass them around and you can pick out the ones you like! The full moon is beautiful tonight!! Did you notice? Here in OH the weather tonight is just gorgeous, but a little chilly. Good thing Steph threw on that extra log! We have not winterized our trailer yet. We are holding out hope that we may get one more nice weekend. Crossed fingers!

Hey Sisters, I've been thinking about you and wondering how everyone is doing. I can contribute about a thousand tootsie rolls as it rained and we only had about half the usual crowd. We are winterized until we take our trip to Florida in Jan. our last stop for the season was Octoberfest at Four Paws Kingdom in Ruterfordton. If you are a dog lover this is an absolutely wonderful campground. We had a blast and Clifford thought he was in dogggie heaven. the German food wasoutstanding and the nicest bathrooms ever! Hope to catch around the fire as we start the holidays.

Hey all you crazy ladies....I am just back from a trip without my Airstream - felt real funny trying to pack a real suitcase instead of a 22'X8' tin tube

I had not flown in 9 years so I could not believe how much all has changed - all the regulations and restrictions are quite interesting to say the least.

I had a great time in the mountains of Georgia - golfing and touring taking lots of photos as usual. I have never played golf in a Mountain environment before - it is amazing. We had a really great quaint cabin, lots of fires and coronas, excellent food and lots of laughs topped off with a huge Hot tub to sooth the aging aching bones

Then a quick trip to the shores of Charleston to stay two nights on a "Craigs List find" a 32' Sailboat at Ashley Harbor instead of your standard Hotel room...It was an great experience.

I have to winterize my sweetie this weekend...and then somehow figure out how I can manage a snowbird trip - hopefully by early Feb to April like last year...

I have my surgery date now - late April - for my ankle joint replacement, and have a mission to drop the weight over the most difficult time of year ha Christmas and winter...hmm should be very interesting.

Hope you are all well....

Hey Vic..a big welcome to you....hope to meet up down the road sometime...

Hi Sue - long time no hear - glad you stopped by - are you heading south again this year?

Steph that is great to spend time with your Dad - I remember pics you posted a long time ago with you and you fellas in your Yaks. Peter and I's last trip was up to High falls - it was a lovely day in late September - but that is it for the year now - it snowed yesterday apparently so winter is now some what official.

Hi Dannie hope you are doing well with your new trailer - have you got all the kinks out from your latest trips..

Hi Lou - still have not forgot your handles - as soon as I find them I will send them.

PS Carol - I finally finished that book you lent me!!!! I had set it down just before the April Ohio Rally (gosh what is it now 1.5 years ago??? - with all that was going on I never really had a chance to get back into it...so my long bus to Buffalo, layovers and flights south gave me a perfect opportunity to finish it.

Guess we will all be right back into the roaring fires as it gets chillier....as I am cutting out all the naughty drinks and foods I will not be able to offer you up some campfire goodies....I hope to get skating next week - it will be a bit painful but the only anaerobic exercise I can do for a few months to help with the pound shedding.

anyone have some good ideas for healthy foods that don't involve cottage cheese, fancy nuts, salads and well all the stuff I really hate to eat...when I eat that stuff it just makes me want to binge!!! LOL
