Thank You!
After just coming off a summer trip from Surprise, AZ up to Port Angeles, WA and back this summer I was not quite ready to road trip again but my friends in the 4 Corners Unit insisted I attend a rally since I hate to say my last one was back in February...time flies. Besides I hadn't been to New Mexico yet and we were traveling up to the inspiration behind so many Georgia O'Keefe painting & photography who was I to say no? We had some amazing thunder & lightening storms during our evening happy hours...on struck so close I think Janet (of Janet & Leon) and I actually screamed and grabbed each other! Good times. Drying out now, trying to get rid of the mildew smell...two weeks at home in the desert should cure that! Next off to a big party up at Big Lake, AZ...have a new boyfriend, this is his camping trip but I will put my Airstream spin on the event for sure...I will not be out traila trashed!

Hello! Here we come, gathering round again, I hope. Did you all see the blaze from my campfire? I've piled a stack of wood off to the side that we can pitch on as needed and arranged some larger logs around the fire for sit-upons. Find a comfy seat and settle in. A few cut up tree trunks and branches from last winter's ice falls make for a toasty bonfire this fall. Late summer here in midMo was wonderful, warm days, enough rain, cool and breezy nights, but in just a few days, temps have dropped cooler in the day and then became downright chilly at night, 40 degrees this morning. Oh, I know that those of you "northerners" consider that perfect for 4th of July, but we down here take a little while to adjust to autumn changes, hence the bonfire. I don't know if you can see or catch a whiff, but I've set out some leftovers on a table over there for anyone who joins me here today: apple pie with cheesy crispy crust, some Maid-Rite makings and buns, and stuff for s'mores, of course. (No sticks and twigs diet here, I fear) You'll always find hot coffee and Baileys at my campfire... I don't know if you all know, but I've become caregiver with Hospice help for my elderly mother since she was diagnosed with bladder cancer last January. She is 91 and contrary as can be about anything medical, so the caring becomes challenging at times. My dear hubby accepted her moving in without a question, even when she keeps her Bose radio on ALL night long at HIGH decibels because her hearing is almost gone. She was given a max of 3 months survival at the time of her diagnosis, but now, 8 months later, we see little change in her, other than gradual weight loss and weakness. I know many of you have also been care givers of your parents, so knowledge of that brings strength to me on stressful days...thanks! But, as a result of this, we've had no trips and no campfires, so I just decided that with the change of seasons, stuck as I am here at home, it's time for a virtual campfire and a circle of silver sisters to pep me up again. Hope you join in and spin some tales of your summer fun and autumn/winter anticipations! Will someone toss another log on the fire? ~G

MMMMMM yummy G. Thanks for baking and getting the coffee and fire started. We'll be pleased to pull up a seat. Gathering together is always good medicine and chicken soup for the soul.

Dannie, salt spray misting an autumn campfire...now that kicks it up a notch! Have a great trip, and do report back to us. I'm landlocked here...all the trip news I can hear helps me imagine I'm on the road again. Turning green (with envy!) ~G

Hi all you crazy Airstreamers...

Guess it must be that time of year....Virtual Online Rally with a Virtual Online Campfire - so the least I could do is help your Visual part...

Not too much has happened since my last update. But Carol you are such a good reminder I have been so remise in my photos...I have yet to upload Galleries from Charleston yet oh my I am so slow....

P and I took a yak up to our local High Falls - you know the falls I was suppose to take pictures of last year - but all I was able to share was gorgeous leave colours from the time I was LOST in the FOREST tee hee - gosh that is almost a year ago now - where does the time go when you are having so much fun.

Things are starting to settle a bit more for P and I. We have had to put up our waterfront lot for sale - and right now hoping that we do not loose everything - but still smiling.

I got my long awaited cortisone shot today to buy me some pain free time. I hope it lasts for my Trip in three weeks to the BlueRidge Mountains....hmm although I would love to say I am doing the solo towing thing - but I just really have to be frugal on the pennies just not life - so I gave up my Silver Rig for the likes of a cheap flight out of Buffalo and a really Cheap bus fair from Peterborough. My friend and I have picked up a cute Cabin in the Mountiains right beside a gorgeous Golf Course we plan on tearing up for 7 days...Get in some hiking, may even take a River White Water run. Do some window shopping, lots of good wine, great food and R&R in the Hot Tub - I really must get one of those - the aching body sure could use one.

Then I have a couple of nights on a Sailboat in Charleston for something Different and close to the city for touring without a car.

I have a girls weekend - leaving tomorrow - gosh some I have not seen in over 12 years - it should be great.

The bad weather put a kibosh on my Algonquin Trip so I hope to get out in the next 2 weeks for at least a night or so. P is working Thanksgiving so the Trip up then will not happen.

He is almost finished the garage - but he is in his super busy start up time for the two arenas so a few things are on hold while he works and sleeps.

I am keeping Dad company and we take trips into the shops and errands just for fun. Really a neat dynamic I am not used to. But he is doing great...

Me and dealing with my Mums loss - well to be honest - not so great. I guess in time I will let it all in - but for now I just continue to take one day at a time to get me through life as life is thrown my way. This past year has been a tremendous amount of "life" and at times it has been so very overwhelming..I really do not know what I would have done without my Aluminum fixes and my baby ModPod!!!

A&M invited us down to Norwood - Ontario Unit's Rally for the pot Luck sunday dinner. I met a few very enthusiastic ladies - who love the idea of a short women's Caravan, and other "ladies only" activities....so Carol thanks ever so much for posting those links a few back - perfect timing.

Our dues are coming up or are the up whatever - so I am considering giving my Home Unit another chance - and hope to get in with both feet to do some event organizing a little closer to home. We have some fab spots in Central North Ontario and Eastern Ontario - for a back road reduced stress Caravan that would be great for a Women's Solo Tow confidence builder to get out.....ha nothing like my first trip having to drive 10 hours on the 401 and Interstate with a trailer that had parts falling of it all the way OMG how did I survive...

Lou - I promise I will have a better look next week - I know they are here somewhere!!! The question is where.

JC thanks for sharing your stories - sounds like you had a great time and continue to be an adventurous soul...

~G - sending you big hugs to help you a long with taking care of your Mum - remember it is about the little things.

I am going to join the Dragon Boat organization that helps fundraise for Breast Cancer - while I do not qualify for the Survivor Boat there are other areas that I can help. And 2010 Peterborough is hosting the International event.

I stuck my hand up too at the end golf banquet and volunteered to be their Awards Coordinator. since I do not know if I will be able to golf and I had such a nice time meeting all the ladies around where I live - I thought I could stay involve on the sides while my ankle heals...

Brock - how is that reno coming?

Laura what are you up to these days.

Steph did you get in any yaking and how was that great trip to the Dunes - post pics!!! Gosh that was ions ago now wasn't it.

Suz when is your annual trip South this year?

Anyone going to be near top of Georgia 26 Oct - Nov 2nd? - I might take my friend for a drive in her car to see all the airstreams - I want to check out the park I have never been there. If I can swing a winter trip I might pick that as a home base this time around...

Dannie - have a great trip to the beach Girl - That is great to hear that you are towing your baby around with confidence - You truly are a "Silver Queen"

Carol your work camp experience sounded like you had a lot of good fun - as well as work...

My latest idea for a traveling work out of the airstream is using my photo skills with desktop and my love of puzzles in both the RV and Marketing and Advertising fields...just waiting on some capital loans and I will hopefully get something going next year to give me a new focus and some excitement traveling and shooting, and meeting lots of people.. P can join me when he can

Well that is all my news - how did the flames work for setting the atmosphere for my little chat with ya'll

Have a great weekend...

mmmm nice fire Sharon, so pretty how it's been burning while we've been sitting and listening to all the news. It sounds like you have a lot of wonderful plans ahead. Keep us posted and plyed with photos. The virtual fireside warms the cool weather days and talk of travel starts dreams so rich and exciting. It may be grey and raining here but I feel toasty and happy to be at this rally.

Dannie, hope you are having so much fun and can hardly wait until you are back to show and tell.

Who needs more coffee? G. got another splash of Baileys? I got whipped cream too and some cookies still warm from the oven.

ahhh - my tea has steeped and it is nice to stand by the fire with the steam rising from the cup as the china warms my hands....just a brief moment of time before the day unfolds into scurrying around packing and making sure I have all the bits and bobbles for the weekend.

Although fun I do wish I was including on my list the final items to pack in ModPod and the hitching routine I have come to be so familiar with. But not this weekend.

Good Morning Carol. The clouds here are finally making way for the rich blue sky from several days of changing out warm summer season to a crisp fall with amazing colours! Very rich and vibrant this year.

hmmmm I could use a bit of that Baily's for a kick start this morning the bones are a bit stiff with this cold and we are die hards waiting till we absolutely have to to let the furnace come on and watch the dollars float out the exhaust vent teehee. So it is freezing and I really do have to get that fire stoked and blazing...

I'll do this one at the same time........

Welcome Victorialhq! What type of Airstream do you have?

I was meaning to post to my 'sister' thread. I took my first SOLO trip a couple of weekends ago. Met friends at a campground not far from home and hubby went up north with his buddies. It was a successful trip! I only needed assistance putting out my awning and one of my friends backed the TV up to the AS while I worked the PowerJack. I thought about you all as I was going down the road self-talking 'you can tow it'.

Nice to know I can manage our AS on my own but I much prefer my hubby along. Good to know that after 22+ years too

Good night all.
