Silver Falls (Oregon) rally, July 1,2,3,4

Bring your Vintage (or not-so-vintage) Airstream and join a very informal group of Northwest Airstreamers at Silver Falls State Park, just east of Salem, OR. I've made reservations for the "NFTRAA" (North Falls Trailer site A) group camp site for the nights of July 1, 2, 3. Check in time Saturday is listed as 4PM and check out time is 1PM July 4. Stay one, two, or three nights depending on your schedule. This site will handle 20 units, max. length 60' (no pull-thru spaces, sorry!). There are NO hookup facilities, restrooms, dump station close by, showers available at the main campground 4 miles away. Cost is $10 per night. Visit www.oregonstateparks.org to get a map of the area and the hiking trails around the falls. This park is about 20 miles east of Salem on Hwys 20 and 214, and is a very scenic part of Oregon. It would make a good day-trip for those attending the National Rally in Salem and a chance to see some vintage trailers from the Northwest. It would also be great if we could arrange a visit to the Vintage section of the National Rally. There is no formal program for this rally -no knitting classes, no pet shows, no fashion shows - but if you have an entertainment talent for the evening fire, please bring it along. In order to keep track of space available and who's attending, I'll maintain the list and collect the fees. Please email me at landyachtdoc@earthlink.net for further information, suggestions, and to save your space.

I'm in for this one! We were there last year and it was fantastic, great hiking trails, beautiful waterfalls. A really neat place to camp!

The dates coincide with the VAC gathering at International in Salem...

Think of it as an alternate Forum rally for those who are not members in the WBCCI, cannot take the week off work for International, or cannot afford the $300 Rally fee (I fall into two of those catagories).

But it would be nice if the VAC open house happened to occur sometime during the weekend, when folks who are unable to attend international could come visit and see all your fine trailers.

Can I join you?

With my not so vintage trailer. How does this coincide with the International as far as dates. I'll be in for both if the dates of the two work out. Don't they overlap though? Or you mean stay off site for the International and just day trip there? Any chance of having a campsite preceding July 1st as well?

so close

It sounds beautiful with the waterfalls and hiking. For some reason being 20 miles away from the International I just assumed it would be before not during. This causes a dilema/conflict. Unless I get there sooner and leave early. Or just stay right through and drive with a "day pass?" Hmmm

Just a quick update. So far, there are six interested trailers from OR/WA. Still plenty of room. Looks like we won't be able to visit the open house at the International rally since it's on Friday. We need at least 10 trailers each night to meet minimum. I have until mid-May to cancel. Check my first post for all the details. Thanks. Darol

Count me in. I see I am the only one signed up in the Rally Calendar.

I forget to use the rally calendar! Ok, I'm on it too now.

We had a fantastic trip to silver falls a couple years ago. Be sure to hit Roth's grocery in Mt Angel (I think) on your way in, and pick up a box of gourmet doughnuts - best doughnuts ever! And as for the falls, if it's still wet (and it often is in July) you'll want to wear your boots, because it can be a little muddy, but it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

Roth grocery

There is a Roth grocery in Silverton and in Stayton. I really liked the one in Silverton. Must be one in Mt. Angel, too!

It might be Silverton I'm thinking of. Either way, we will hunt around until we find it. Mmmmm, doughnuts

I posted this rally early hoping to give people a chance to plan ahead. So far, the interest has been slim. This is just a reminder that I need to have 10 trailers per night to make the minimum requirements. First week in May is the deadline. Need to know by then or I'll have to cancel. Darol

I am hoping you don't have to cancel. How many more units do you need ?

I just wanted to bring this up again since we've been talking about international as it gets closer. This is an alternative to International for locals who can't take a whole week off work. Come join us at Silver Falls for a weekend instead!

We need at least 10 units signed up by the end of May or we won't meet the minimum. So far there are only 5 "for sures". Going out on a limb here, but the weather SHOULD be better by the first of July even though summer in Oregon starts July 5th. Please email me with your plans. landyachtdoc@earthlink.net. Darol

Hi all, Just wanted to give this a bump. I for one would really like to see this rally happen. It is a good alternative to the International in Salem.

Chris,
As I understand it, you don't need 10 trailers at the site......just have to pay the $50 or so to reserve the site......whether you have one or up to 10 trailers. So even if you have 5 trailers, it's only $10 per night....and that's pretty good! Am I right? We're going to the International, but may drive up to Silver Falls one night to visit with all our friends!
