Hi everyone,
I just called the park and they have no cable hook-ups, but they do have wifi. They said they get all the local channels, but I'm not sure if that's going to help all you football fans!!!!!

Thanks for the update! I wonder what they mean by "local Channels"?

When you go to MSN Weather and select Twentynine Palms, CA as your location, they now have a link to a "Special Weather Statement" which reads as follows:
Quote:
EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES ON THE WAY...
AN UNUSUALLY COLD AIR MASS WILL PLUNGE SOUTH OUT OF WESTERN CANADA AND INTO THE DESERT SOUTHWEST...BRINGING THE COLDEST AIRMASS OF THE SEASON TO THE LOW DESERTS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA...SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA AND NORTHWEST ARIZONA BEGINNING ON FRIDAY.
INITIALLY...STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL DEVELOP ON THURSDAY AHEAD OF THE APPROACHING COLD FRONT. THE COLD FRONT WILL PUSH THROUGH THE REGION THURSDAY NIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING...SHIFTING THE WINDS TO THE NORTHWEST AND USHERING IN THE COLD AIRMASS. THERE WILL BE A CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS DOWN TO THE VALLEY FLOORS FRIDAY EVENING AND FRIDAY NIGHT...WHICH COULD IMPACT DRIVERS COMING TO LAS VEGAS FOR THE WEEKEND.
A REINFORCING SHOT OF COLD AIR ON FRIDAY NIGHT WILL DELIVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO THE LOW DESERTS OF SOUTHERN NEVADA...NORTHWEST ARIZONA AND SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA.
FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO OCCUR SATURDAY MORNING...SUNDAY MORNING...MONDAY MORNING...AND TUESDAY MORNING IN MANY AREAS. FOR COMPARISON...THE LAST TIME LAS VEGAS SAW FOUR CONSECUTIVE LOW TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW FREEZING WAS FOUR YEARS AGO...IN FEBRUARY OF 2003.
RESIDENTS OF THE DESERT SOUTHWEST WILL NEED TO TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IN ANTICIPATION OF THE SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES.
PROTECT EXPOSED PIPES EITHER BY WRAPPING THEM IN INSULATION OR BY ALLOWING FAUCETS TO DRIP. BRING PETS INDOORS...OR ENSURE THEY HAVE PLENTY OF FOOD AND SHELTER FROM THE COLD. SENSITIVE PLANTS SHOULD BE COVERED OR MOVED INDOORS IF POSSIBLE...AND OUTDOOR POOL AND SPA OWNERS WILL NEED TO TAKE APPROPRIATE MEASURES TO PROTECT THEIR EQUIPMENT.

It sounds alot worse then it will be, the forcast is as follows...

Sounds like frozen water hook ups to me. Might have to disconnect and drain the hose before bedtime and leave the water connection faucet dripping so it doesn't freeze. Reconnect the drained hose in the morning.

Hmmmm. Someone may need to do a brief (and of course BYOB) seminar on real winter camping. Some of us Californians aren't used to the really cold thing.

This is gonna be a blast!
Well fellow streamers we are gonna have us a fun time adventure!
Who's the experienced camper that will give us all the info at Fri. Nights Happy Hour?
The park sells propane as do many of the gas stations in the area.
I'll bring extra firewood and hopefully others will too.
I spoke to Str8stream and he's already there! The lucky dog.

Hi, Paula or Steve,
I can't see the facilities map on either of my web browsers. It's a white out!! Hope that isn't a foretelling.
That said, could you please assign us a spot or we can take whatever is available when we arrive with you on Friday. Thanks....

We're doing this sans map, Mike. You can pick one of the remaining spots now by posting your selection or wait till you get there. There are both pull-throughs and back-ins avaliable. The 3-digit site numbers ar back-ins and the 2-digit site numbers are pull-throughs.
