Howdy TL Rallyers!
We're still recovering from the International in Salem..........of which we'll give you our "take" on the happenings when we get to TL! Hollenbeck Park sounds good to us.......I'm sure it's a darn sight more scenic than the Salem fairgrounds (see pic).......we were backed up to the fence with a Marichino cherry processing plant behind us! I hope the CG can accomodate our "long long trailer"! I wonder whether that creek at the CG can be kayaked? If not, I may have to find the lake at Trout Lake to try my Pungo! We'll also bring our generator.......which got a good workout at the Intl.
Only got to pop in for a short visit at Silver Falls......so we've got some catchin' up to do with the group! Can't wait to hear CC's experiences at Jellystone!

nice view.... I don't know much about the creek... but the owner says there's good fishing. There is a lot of kayaking in trout lake - just not sure where.

*le sigh*
Yet another rally that we are going to miss. Have big vacation plans in Sept that require us to keep camping expenses to the barest minimum.
Enjoy folks.
I would like to hear your take on the International in Salem, Jim. My wife and i wandered around down there for about 1 hour on Saturday before we were cornered by some folks in red and nearly recruited.
Unfortunately we "most likely" wont be able to make any rally appearances until our return from vacation in early Oct. Just in time for Beverly Beach ver 3.0.

There are two ways to do so.
The first is by linking to an image hosted somewhere. Just click on the little picture of a mountain above the text box and enter the URL.
The second is buy uploading an image. Below text box when typing a post/reply in the additional options area click on the "manage attachments" button and browse for the image(s) you want to upload from your PC.

Hit reply to thread.......then go down to "additional options" and under that "attach files".....click on manage attachments and it will take you into the "upload from computer".....select pics, then hit upload. Make sure the pics are no larger than 640 x 480 pixels.

BTW, Van
Can I buy your 77 Safari? I'm looking for this vintage to ship overseas in three years to do the Capetown to Cairo Caravan! They are recommending AS's from 1975-80 no longer than 23' because they have the recommended ground clearance!

Van, sorry you won't make it, hopefully we'll catch you at BB!
Jim, are you serious about doing Capetown to Cairo? I thought you were joking then I remembered you were stationed in that part of the world, weren't you? Butch and Beth are looking to sell their trailer, but it's a 70s Overlander, and Darol has a 60's TW for sale, you'll see them both at TL.
Let Darol know what you're looking for, he knows where everything for sale is.
I'm bringing my fishing pole to TL, but when we cam last year we saw lots of people rafting all along the river between TL and Hwy 14. Might be worth bringing the kayak Jim, just in case.

Hi Stef & gang,
I'm in Hood River which is about 30 min. south of TL. I would love to join you but my wife is flying in from FL late on the 15th and it's her birthday on the 16th. She'll be pretty tired when she arrived at 10:00 pm after flying all day with 2 stops along the way.
I'll sure try to at least get up there to say hi. When are you playing at the festivel? Do you have a set performance time?
BTW, if any of you want a rafting or kayaking adventure, you can go a few minutes south to BZ Corners where you will find a few outfitters that do raft and kayak trips on the White Salmon River. I think some sections go to class IV but most is pretty benign.
Also, if you want a little 'local color' for a dinner break, try 'THE LOGS' restuarant. Good ribs and broasted chicken at reasonable prices. Hope to see you at the fest!

Janet.......not that it matters to us.......
but what are the rates for Hollenbeck Park for groups like ours? I know that attendees will want to know about how much they'll be spending for the amenities......... and I know it depends how many units attend. We may want to come in Thursday night, and depart on Monday morning..........hoping this won't upset the rates if we do this! Is there a way we can compensate the owners if we do this. Do you recommend we call them if we decide to do this?

Janet------Add Bob, Molly and the boys to the list please. Like Jim and Cheryl, we will probably arrive early and may even stay until Monday, don't know for sure yet. Anyway, we now have a two burner outdoor cooker that we will bring up.
Lewster-----It would be nice if you could come up---we would like to meet you....Might be interested in talking to you about an awning for the motorhome before the price increase.
See you there--Bob of Bob and Molly

The rates are per trailer per night. $15.00. The space is avaialable on Thursday night. The first person there needs to develop a parking scheme for the rest... The space is non-traditional. They said that 10 or more trailers could park easily with no plan and that more would require a more orderly parking scheme. They have other camping avaialble here - but the group area (with the fire pit) is ours.
Bob - glad your comming! And bringing your cooker. We will bring ours - but as usual at trout lake will not be there until Saturday Morning. If other folks are going to stay sunday night - we will too! Cool - can't wait.

Janet, I'm planning to arrive Friday afternoon and stay 'til Sunday (2 nights). I'll gather up wood scraps from the shop for fire starter. Generator is in the truck from last weekend in case any batteries get weak. I'll make a pan of lasagne for a Saturday potluck (?). Darol

We will be there in spirit....
Howdy friends!
We won't be able to come up to this little rally! Sure wish we could... Don tried to get me to stay "up north" while we were at Silver Falls.... but bill collectors beckoned as well as Dr. appts. Hopefully we can catch another one soon!
We hope everyone will have a great time! Enjoy the food, friendship, and "adult" beverages ~ should there happen to be any...
