Gary, I received your email but am unable to reply due to server problems. I am interested in a desert get-together so please keep me informed.
Thanks

It's hot, so we're not (yet)

....creating a list.
Too hot now but will be making a decision about possible weekends when the desert temps get reasonable.

After New Years sounds good to me. It ought to be cool enough by then. However, I vote to stay on paved roads, especially if rain is a possibility. We do all have to get back to work on Monday! <G>

Rain possible in southern California????

Naaaaaaah, you got to be kidding!!!

But you never know what an under the weather man might forecast for weather, especially one from southern California.

They are taught to spread rumors, BIG TIME!!!!

I hear that the "mister's" were invented here, to make people think it's raining!!!

And, before you can have a "rain out", you have to have a "rain in." Hey, that would be different.

So lets plan accordingly. If we get "wet", we can call it a "phenomenon."

But, we need to do it quickly, before our governor figures out a way to "tax" it.

I would suggest after Thanksgiving, and before Christmas.

Count us in, for prizes and some good food.

Andy, can you still cook Tri-Tip in the rain? I will hold the umbrella over the fire if needed.
Some of my best camping experiences have been in the rain.

Desert Tripping

How about December 13 - 15? Geminid meteor shower peaks sometime Friday, most likely evening. Will bring telescopes.

Or else November 8 - 9?

Dec 13-15 works for me! Don't have a telescope, but love to watch "shooters" in the sky.

Cooking under an awning is nice, BUT, it will get full of soot.
Instead, everything I bring, will be cooked very early that day or the night before.
That way it can cook slowly, giving it that "WOW" taste and tenderness. Hey, good prime rib is always cooked slowly, but carefully.
Please count Maxine and I in, at least during the course of one day. For 14 years there was always a 89 345 motorhome here for me to use, but it is on a trip for now. May or may not be back by mid December.
Regardless, all we need to know, is how many and where. We will have "Tri-tip" (to die for), brats (that will knock your socks off), secret recipe "garlic bread" (oh yeh, gotta have garlic bread that is taken to levels unheard of). We will also fix a tub of outrageous baked beans that would go good with that, followed by two different homemade cheesecakes. Pineapple is one and key lime is the other.
Hey, after your socks are gone and you died, what's left????
