I've installed our propane fireplace, and added nice new bathroom lighting.... looking forward to seeing everyone!

Nice, Bart! Speaking of fireplace, they still have campfire restrictions in place, but hopefully with more rain as forecast, they will be lifted. If they are I'll bring firewood. If not, I'll bring my Firedancer as propane fire pits are OK to use there.

Is it time to start a potluck list or are we not that formal?
Either way, you can count on me for a pot of pilaf.
Also, I'll be serving hot cider with honey whiskey since it is February.

I couldn't find where it was posted, maybe it was on Facebook somewhere, but did we determine that there are NOT water hook ups at each site? Am I correct that there is a place to fill up at the campground? I remember seeing a picture of a threaded water bib.

From what I remember that is correct...

Also there is no sewer hook ups at the sites; however there is a dump station by the store should you need to purge!

Clean restrooms with flushy toilets and showers there too.

There are not water hookups at each site. There are a number of hose bibs so it might be possible to refill your tank while there. However, the staff informed us in November that it's not impossible that the hose bibs will have frozen in the winter and may not be functional. Best to arrive with the full fresh water tank and any other tanks empty.

I'm neither for nor against a potluck list. If someone wants to get one going that people can copy and add to, that can help people decide what to bring. Others will bring whatever they want to bring, regardless. I'm fine with it either way.

We don't have a specific potluck location, although there's a nice big spreading oak near sites 91, 95 and 97. Scouting of alternative potluck sites on Friday and Saturday may turn up a better spot. Any input and suggestions will be cheerfully taken into consideration. I'll post the potluck location by the door to our trailer in space #91 - it's the Airstream with the Egyptian eyes on the rock guard.

Some people will be hiking on Saturday and may take a while to get back to the campground. I propose a 5 pm happy hour and a 6 pm potluck, but that is also open to suggestions.

We too believe we can or not have a potluck. With the change in recent weather, we'll be looking for a fellow owner of a awning! I'm sure a good portion of us will hiking Saturday, I know we will. Since we are ahead if their spring season, any possibility of corralling a ranger for our group for an evening presentation? I think our group is large enough this time of the year to interest them in doing so.

Ooh, this is worth checking on. I'll see if it's possible and, if we have a choice, I'll bring it back here to see what would be most popular.

I just checked the website - they will be having a 30-45 minute ranger led program in the amphitheater (adjacent to our campground) on Friday and Saturday night. The program is the ranger's choice.

The programs start at 6:30 at this time of year. Do we want to do the potluck before or after? Thoughts?

I think before, even if it's just a meet and greet social hour. We have a lot of folks that are meeting up for the first time so I think some kind of official gathering would be great.

It's getting dark at about 5:30, so I imagine we'll be back from our hike well before then.
Can't wait to see the bat caves!

Yup, and #92 has been booked since shortly after we announced the rally, so I suspect aluminum there as well.

A great video link about Pinnacle National Park. We REALLY are looking forward to our first visit there.

We've camped at Pinnacles campground and unless we get a real cold snap, I doubt bibs will freeze. When we camped here we arrived with full fresh water tank and about 100' of hose with a water thief. It was easy to reach a bib and refill my fresh tank.

We'll be bringing a corn-in-the-hole beanbag toss just in case things get too slow. We'll also have a pot of mulled wine under our awning for anyone who gets thirsty.

There's also a really nice interpretive center that's worth a visit.

I'm all for a potluck without signups; seems to have worked well in the past. Never left hungry; besides if we run short on something, substitute wine...

Weather at Pinnacles National Park looks like it's going to be ideal for hiking. Highs in the low 50s and clear, with a chance of rain earlier in the week to clear the air.

I was just noticing at lunch how quickly the hills are starting to "Green Up" down here from the rain we just got. Conditions are looking ideal for the rally.

We're probably the most "local" people going to the Pinnacles Rally, so I'll let you know if you are coming from the North Hollister will be your last stop for Gas, Food and so on. It's probably 30 miles each way to the camp ground so plan for at least 60 miles of fuel once you leave Hollister or you'll be walking!
