OH-MI Break Out Rally

Anyone in Michigan or Ohio or elsewhere that is interested in having a spring rally in this area this year?

I thought we could start a planning thread to get a feel for particpants and their preferences.

Vickie called me and said River Ridge RV Resort just North of Big Rapids in Michigan is having two special weekend openers at half price of 19 dollars per night. April 17 and 18th or April 23rd and 24th.

This park is on the river with rental boats, swimming pool, tennis and basket ball courts, great store and full hookup with landscaped sites and cement pads, cable and internet.

Hey Ryan, do you think the snow will still be here in April Guess we could always push back the date until May. We might want to pick alternative camprounds as well. River Ridge normally would be around 40 dollars a night if it is not during one of the promotional weekends.

Have you got a favorite campground that would be a good choice?

Calling all former Lou's Crews (I love that name, lol) chime in.

Hi James!! That would be terrific to get you into the "fold."

Roger what were the dates last year of the Woman's rally? I could swear I was there the end of April, no? But going a little further South to get warmer weather that is good too. If you wait until it's nice that will be June July and August, you will have to live FAST! When and where do you and MaryLou like to go? Maybe everyone wants to go there...

This is great, the more people commenting the better!! Who else is lurking out there? C'mon

Hi everyone,

I have not posted in awhile. But just wanted to add a little to this thread.

We have been seasonal campers at River Ridge, Big Rapids, Michigan for several years now. All snow and ice are gone by the end of March. Only once have we had any snow in April but that was gone in two days time. Airstreamers are a hardy bunch, this should be a piece of cake! You will never find a nicer place for $19.00/night. The regular spring rate is $38.00/night but goes to $48.00/night in May.

Although we are no longer fellow Airstreamers, we would love to see a sea of shiny aluminum.

Snow 'n Ice?

River Ridge does sound like a nice place. I was just kidding about the snow and ice. I'm really just worried about the glaciers! Useful for keeping the beer cold anyway!

Just to add also:
A group booking includes the use of the clubhouse. It is big enough to accommodate a large group with very nice kitchen facilities. There is a pool table up stairs with an exercise room and game room downstairs. So if it is too cold outside, there is a very nice and large clubhouse to hang out it.

No, I do not have any connection with the management of our resort. Just like to help out with first hand info, when possible.

Vickie

Carol,

I'm with Airedale on the April date. I, too will be at the KY rally then. I would venture to ask, maybe later in the month??? I would LOVE to attend a Michigan rally while I'm at home with fellow Michiganders!!

Hellllooo West Virginia and Brian in Mississippi!! WOW!! That Kentucky Rally is going to be well attended for sure. We may indeed have enough interest for a rally in the Michigan/Ohio area both months! Wouldn't that be cool?! I know everyone is going to want to meet everyone especially from out of the area, so let's work to make this happen for everyone somehow...we can surely try. Now we have interest for both months but some can't attend the other month and I hate to lose anyone who wants to get together.

How about we start a tentative sign up list for each month and see who can attend when. I think there will be some anxious here to get out camping who can't get away to travel to the Kentucky Rally but still want to start their camping season just as early as possible too ??? I guess we'll see. It only takes 2 Airstreams to make a party, so no reason for anyone not to find a buddy, right?!!

Just copy and paste. Think of this as your personalized online "make a match" rally thread.

Hey Carol,

Big Rapids would be cool! It has been awhile since we have been up there and we both love that area. Rhonda and I are both Ferris Alum's.

Kewl Dave!! The area sounds like it might be a keeper. I am sure the kids would love riding their bikes and hiking up and down the big hill to the water and going to the store for ice cream and throwing rocks in the water. perhaps a pontoon could be rented if enough pitch in together.

We have gone before for a rally to River Ridge. It is indeed very nice. If it were up to me I would say River Ridge in April to get the $19.00 a night rate. That special price will not be available in May however.

So May ralliers need to decide if they want to go to River Ridge or somewhere else. I will post some pictures later today to give those who have not been there an idea of what the campground and area is like.

I am assuming it is on the "Mighty Muskegon"? I used to have my own tube. Tubing there is great fun, but probably not in April.

Talking Yes ma'am we'll be there!

Oh I love it at River Ridge. We'll be there with bells on. Pick a date and I'll get it on the calendar! It is so nice, clean, friendly, and scenic.
