Last 4 Rally Photos
These are shots of unusual or clever solutions to common problems. The most unusual without a doubt is the gooseneck rig. The step braces are made of lengths of copper pipe with Ts sweated on each end. The lower Ts are slotted to slide onto the back of the step. The bottom two show adaptations to blocking or locking wheels. Both good solutions.
That’s it for me from the inaugural Branson Rally. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and making so many new friends.

SORRY. . .Branson Rally
Thank you for posting pictures of the Branson Rally. We enjoyed looking at them and reading your posts. It seems everyone had a great time and made some good friends.
My husband and I were so looking forward to the Branson Rally which would have been our 1st AS rally EVER.
Since we live close to Branson it was perfect for our 1st time out with our new/old AS and looked forward to meeting all of you guy's.
On September 26th we recieved a call that Jack's Mother had died in American Samoa, a 25 SQ mile Island in the South Pacific.
We booked our flight the next day left friday and landed in Samoa on the 30th of September. Because of customs of the Island the funeral lasted 6 days. The last night the family spent sleeping in the Samoan Fale with his Mom to spend one last night with her before she was laid to rest. In the morning we all said our goodbyes.
Her grave was dug by hand by my husband and his brothers and the concret tomb was mixed and poured by hand. Quite a difference from the funerals we have here in the states.
I remember when I 1st met Jack back in the 70's when he attending College here in Missouri, I told him we had to go to a funeral of a relative he Freaked out! Now I know why.
He was really impressed with the 30 to 40 minute service. He kept saying "THATS IT?" Are you sure? That's it?
Anyway we hope to see you all at another Rally close by. I guess it's about time to winterize but I would like to get one weekend in before that happens.
I guess it's time I read up about winterizing the AS huh?

Sorry You Couldn’t Come
I’m sorry for Jack’s loss. That’s never easy. It sounds like quite a ceremony. Perhaps there is room somewhere between that and our quickie ceremonies for a little more healing and closure.
I’m also sorry you couldn’t make the rally. It was a lot of fun. It is good to put faces to people you have corresponded with and to meet new people too. There are plans to do it in April and October next year, so perhaps you can make those.

I would like to take this time to say thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers during our journey to and from American Samoa for the funeral of my husbands Mother.
The people on this forum (fellow Airstreamers) are very special people. People I have never met sending well wishes . . .unbelievable. I had friends right here in my home town that didn't even do that!
We can't wait to meet you guy's!
Thank you so much.

Oh, wow Kani - I am SO sorry about your mother-in-law! Please give Jack a big hug for me (and get one back, for you!). Thank you for the description of the funeral process - that was very interesting! Now I have to go Google American Samoan traditions...
I am also sorry we didn't get to meet you this go-'round, but hopefully in April!
Lots of good thoughts coming your way!
Susan

Steve, I have spent the last 2 hours reading this thread, wow everyone had a great time. I was too sorry cancel the planned attendance but it couldnt be helped. I sure hope "to attend the next rally (Spring is in the Air?)
The problems that Michael Deprada had was too sad, he's a terrific person! I hope everything is fixed by now.

I believe Michael has a thread on his mishap, and is back on the road in TX no less. I am unsure about Spring is in the Air right now since nobody other than 1-2 people replied with interest. I do think that if I book it, they will come is true, so we shall see.

Steve,
Have you found your 23' yet? Will you not still have your new one then if you haven't found a 23'?
Thanks for the condolences. It really didn't matter to me, but it was a little sad that they didn't win, since they were so well ranked. Good luck to your Tigers!

Ya know Gene.....that 28' of yours would be an excellent marketing device here in the St. Louis area. People would say "Wow...what a cool trailer, looks like Bill THomas isn't the only place to get one".
How about that? I hear Mike rolling over in his grave on that one.
