What's this? Someone say retro cocktails? I love booklets. I can't get enough of that, have every Airstream book and memorbilia I can find. A meet in the middle of the great US of A. How can that lose? Tell us more.

Oh, this is starting to sound FUN!!! Cocktails, aprons, booklets and FOOD!

Kimber, thanks for the info! We have been here about three years now, and still don't know our way around too much.

Steve--thanks for taking the lead! Please let us know if we can help with anything. I am not familiar with the Branson/Bull Shoals area, but can do some research if needed. I would love to see Eureka Springs!

Susan

First things first...lets get a concrete date, and look for campgrounds that have space available at that time.

Comments from everyone on this please.

This is close to home and interesting, but Max has trial work the first 3 weeks of October, drat I'd be glad to help in your planning in some way, but we wouldn't be free to rally until late in the month--which could be beautiful color but also starting to get chilly. One of our best camping trips was in this area the last week of October and first of November. Go ahead and make your plans and we'll fit ourselves in if anything changes.

The key in planning a rally is the location. Branson is a great area, but the biggest issue in planning is the site and the associated reservations. This is probably the trickiest part. If you go to a public site, no campground will block off the sites and you have to depend upon everyone reserving early and that the campgrounds will assign you together. If you go to a private campgrounds you can get sites together but the campgrounds will want some up front money....and who of the planners will risk their own nickel this far out?

I did a rally at a private campgrounds up in Mackinaw Michigan a few year back and the campground owners agreed to try to keep us together as the individual reservations came in. It wasn't perfect but at end we pretty much all were together, intermixed with a few SOB's at different times.

Normally my trip in the fall to Branson usually is the end of the season for us so I appreciate having a full hookup site which allows me the ability to flush out the black water tank for the winter. Obviously I'd be interested in participating depending upon the days chosen and my work schedule.

With gas prices the way they are, some of the private campgrounds in Branson have had a lot of room in them by the second week of October. You might want to make some calls and see if any of them will work with you on setting aside an area without the upfront money.

All,

I spoke with America's best campground today and they are sending me a rally planner guide. A group of 10 or more will get us reserved at $25.00 if we pay as a group or $26.00 per night if we pay all separate.

Last week in Sept or Second weekend in October....anyone have a preference?

Steve

You might also inquire with Compton Ridge Campground also. They've got lots of space and are another 5 miles west of America's Best. Nice folks there. They do have a giant covered pavillion there by the upper pool area which could make a great gathering point if we have rain. Sites all around that pavillion with a bath/shower house in the same area. Wouldn't cost anything to use the pavillion. Compton Ridge Campground - Branson Missouri

As far as weekends go that second week of October falls into some nice times there. Also note that the first weekend of October falls on the Columbus day weekend. Some folks might be off on that Monday which will allow them to stay an extra day.

At this point I can probably do the first or second weekend in October. The last week of September is out for me.

Thumbs up October

According to the travel master/wife--we'd be in for any date from the first of October.
Best,

Sounds good to us! We're open for either date... It will be our first rally.

Hopefully, the '76 Caravanner will be finished... Yes, I know, we're never finished... Okay, further along.

Happy Trails,

dale
