Collin not only knows how to drive the wheel, he also knows how to put the sunvisors down to keep the sun out of his eyes, turn the overhead lights on and off, select radio stations of his choice and last but not least he knows how to radio for help
Steve and Amy you've got a great kid there

Jack,
Sorry about the tire. Since I have been religious about keeping 65 lbs COLD tire pressure, I have never had another Marathon problem.

More Branson Photos
Saturday featured a polishing demonstration. Wow, what a lot of work, but the results speak for themselves. The demo trailer has unpolished areas that are so oxidized that when someone up the hill before the demo was trying to point it out to someone, they kept asking, “The painted one down there?” We couldn’t see the polished sections from there.
There was also a very nice polished unit just up the hill.
Makes me glad that ’83s have a type of Al that doesn’t polish well.

Hey Gene,
Amy came up with this: Branson "Spring is in the AIR" Rally.
Early April looks promising as Easter is at month's end.

The Chili Cook-off
The high event of Saturday evening was the Chili Cook-off! Fame and fortune were at stake. The fate of the free world seemed to hang in the balance. Smack talk rivaled wrasslin’. (2air came up to billberk’s and said that his chili was really goulash and should be served with pasta) Sorry, no pics of that, but I only had a still camera.
Steve gathered the contestants’ chili and put them in identical cups for the judges.
There was also a great spread of other dishes to complement the chili, for the rest of us anyway.
The suspense built – who will win?

The Judges’ Verdict
Fortunately, the Cook-off was blessed with an august panel of judges who made their decision seriously (if not exactly soberly).
The crowd waited, spellbound with anticipation.
Finally, the results were announced.
The trophy was awarded and victory was celebrated! Bill’s goulash was vindicated and officially proclaimed the victorious chili.
Still to come, the rest of the evening including the door prizes.

The picture Bill posted of 2air with the rose colored glasses hid the true evil.
Note the glowing red eyes.

A Big Thanks to Steve and Amy
Just a note to say thanks to Steve and Amy... This was our first Airstream rally of any kind and it was a winner. My wife Laynah and I had a great time and we met a lot of nice people from all over the country. We are looking forward to the next rally and hope to visit with a lot of new friends.
Thanks again....And to all who have pictures on the site, they are great.
Tim

First of the Door Prizes Photos
Not the first, but certainly one that catches the spirit of the event. Any of you who doubted 2air’s radioactive chili should see this. I’m not even goin’ to talk about that 3rd hand (!!!) sprouting from his back. Check out the evil glow from his eyes!
On another note, the excellent artwork on the table is Artstream’s (Michael Depraida) print. I was also lucky enough to get a door prize, so that’s what I chose. Thanks Artstream for donating it!!! Everyone else should check out his work.
Ok, the evil glow was really a tiny corner of the streetlight (I think), but could a coincidence (?) be more appropriate?
You really need to view this one full size, click on the image.
Really, trust me.
Really!

More Photographs
I will have more tonight. I have several of the door prizes and some more miscellaneous trailer and people photographs. I will put together a CD with all the photographs for you.
Thanks for the Karma from both you and Susan (Alumatube). I really had a great time.

I am in the process of giving karma to everyone....stupid karma system only lets you give so much in 24 hours.
Thanks Vaughn for the work on the pics. When the CD is ready let me know so I can get it and the wood carver info.

Door Prizes
After the chili cook off awards, we got down to the serious business of the door prizes! After you claimed your door prize, it was then your turn to draw for the next prize. Since I was taking photos, I am not pictured, but I am glad I went early and was able to claim Michael’s artwork. Thanks again, Michael and everyone. The question now is where to hang it.

We have a confirmed prize for the Branson "Spring is in the AIR" forums Rally.
In the center is a small crock pot for dips.

More Saturday Night Photos
Some of the better, in my opinion, photographs came after the door prize drawings when I got brave and put a fast lens on the camera and shot available light. The previously posted photo of Amy and Colin is one of these. This was my first experiment with a new camera, a Sony Alpha 100. The image stabilization helped a lot. Some were still unusable, but most of these are pretty good. Gene looks a little fuzzy, but it was really him and not out of focus. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.
I will admit, though, that during the evening the photographer developed about a 3 degree list to port that had to be corrected in Photoshop.
Still to come: Miscellaneous photos around the rally.
