The spots 82 and 83 would have been a carpool thing, but it was something that I wanted everyone to have a look at.

If we had the entire campground I don't believe the fire issue would be there, but there is a chance that those other sites not affiliated with us have a camper who chose to be be there because the campground is smoke free. I personally wouldn't go after the we don't care about the smoke issue with the owners because they will consider those outside our group too. I think the best you can hope for is the chance that someone has a propane fire unit and that they will allow that due to no smoke and no need for clean up.

I hope that smoke really isn't the issue. I planned on smoking that pork shoulder (Providing that I get a replacement hot plate) at my camping spot.

A lot of difference between a BBQ and a campfire....unless your heat source was going to be a campfire!!

As long as you share the Pork shoulder, I don't think anyone will gripe about the smoke...just save some for me!!

Gene,
Aren't you and Bill leaving early in the morning on Friday? You should get here in plenty of time.
Got a mailing from the campground today. Many of us will be arriving on the 11th. Looks like more fun to be had for the rally.
Still awaiting management to call me back...stay tuned.

Important....
I ordered a hot plate, but it isn't slated to be here till next Wednesday. Too bad as I was really wanting to make smoked pork. Then I am waltzing around sears at the mall, and low and behold a new hotplate.....and way cheaper than the one I ordered.
Guess I have a backup once the other one gets here.

Too bad more kids aren't coming. Artstream could do a wonderoud finger painting exhibit.
With that said...I asked about dogs, but who is bringing kids?
Steve
Bill..what are you using to smoke the brisket? I have apple and hickory, but don't want to use the same as you.

Steve,
I stocked my hickory pile earlier this year so that's what I'll be using.

Even worse, we had already been up for an hour.
We have to get up early to drag our smooshy middle aged butts
to the gym.

My first post. Big moment, huh?

I too wake up around this time daily since the Army wants Amy in and ready for work so early. The joys of living on base was that everything is a 5 minute drive. Here it is over an hour each way with traffic.
At least next week I don't need to worry about traffic...ah relaxation.

News Flash,
I spoke with the compton ridge manager yesterday and she vowed to get an answer and call me back. I did not hear back to I called and left a message, and I also sent an email.
I am thinking that next time we will be at the South locale. There we can have fires, and as Jack pointed out to me, there are laundry and bath facilities close.
I will keep you informed once I hear something.

I'm just a man, without a real plan, and doing the best I can.
Funny that I opened this thread two days before Christmas 2006. If this goes off well I will seek opinions on making this a biannual rally for spring and fall. Those Northern GA campers can't have all the fun!
