Gene,

As it stands the answer is no. They do not allow fires at the north grounds since the sites are close together. If push came to shove the interested parties could chip in a few bucks to get a spot in the couth grounds that allows fires....wouldn't be that much if there is a space available.

Steve.... do you by any chance... have a map so that we can see where the "spots" are located? I need a visual... gotta see the "spots'... seems to me I remember Compton Ridge giving me a different number when I signed up... the place with the jacuzzi, home theater and gen-u-wine palm tree with pink flamingos...

Don't care where, just like to have an idea of what I'm backing into...

Met Nohillgrish tonight, we are both fortunate to have tolerant wives and easy going neighbors.

I was plastic welding the hood to my John Deere (a new one cost $400 and I dang near ruint my mower mowing the daughter's grass.....three flats this week, one last week, buying new tires.....$140.00 40 each for the back ones, 20 each for the front ones. Wait a minute, that doesn't add up to 140.....I also ran over all the rocks she is growing.)

So up comes this guy in a white shirt and tie, asking if I am Jim Lee. I showed him the airstream, we had a nice visit and looking forward to the branson rally.
Jim definitely is a kindred spirit. Didn't take him long at all to get past the shirt & tie--yuk!! The "uniform", however, helps feed my passion (s). Jim, by the way is quite the Airstream flooring expert. Seems like he said something about being willing to re-floor or repair any floor at the rally that had a problem. Just kidding Jim--remember, we're friends now, right??

We still have one person on spot 43 that I do not know their forums name. They are all that is missing from the list. We still have a spot open as well in case someone wants to change locations to spot 30, or knows an interested party.

As for the site purchase for a fire, I don't think they will require an RV on it as long as it is paid for. Can someone call compton Ridge in the morning to see if one of these sites is available?

alright youse guys....

just cuz i'm in oregon

doesn't mean i don't have your addresses...

on gps

NO FIRE is NO FUN!

especially with darkness coming earlier.

so another option is a lp gas fire thing...

*Only $129.95* for the Fire Dancer Portable Gas Campfire with Log

they are self contained and off the ground...

put out a pretty good light and no smoke fire.

i don't see these banned on the 'rules' list....

have a great time folks!

cheers

Someone needs to check on this gas fire dancer thingy and makes sure it is ok with the park before someone dishes out the dough for it!

hey 2air'...I used to date a fire dancer!!! Now she is just an "old flame"

The owners are going to call me back in a few hours to let me know if they will allow us to bring a patio fire pit out with us to the group area. I said I would keep a hose and fire extinguisher on hand at ALL times.

If this is a nogo we have another option. The lady I spoke to offered to give us sites 82 and 83 at the south grounds that are 40 and 36 feet long respectively. She would do both for the $30 cost. Each is a full hookup, but we don't have to put an RV on it. This would give us a huge area to gather in, two fire pits, and full hookups to watch the movies at.

Anybody have thoughts on this?

Alright everyone...we just lost another rally goer. johnbaker had to cancel since his brother was coming in from Iraq. Completely understandable in my mindset.

We now have two open spots. I may start sending out some PMs.

Steve

Oh yeah...did this last night....waiting to get the other one done. Can you see it?

Problem is those sites aren't as close as you think to the north park. If you go by the roads to get there, it's a fairly good hike with some hills to navigate. Not condusive at all for carrying chairs coolers etc to the sites. The good side is they are close to the bathrooms but I'm assuming she will not let you park cars in the sites. My suggestion would be to pass on the site offer.

Personally I can't see why the gas fire pit won't be allowed. The issue at the north campground is the site sizes and smoke. Make sure she understands what you might bring is actually smoke free and running off propane.

I agree with Jack...seems a little to far to haul all of our stuff and more than likely not enough parking to drive...I too would pass on the South sites...

I haven't actually bought the propane burner...a little rich for my blood seeing that I have a perfectly good fire pit at home that would work at the pavillion.

If the fire is in a cluster of rally goers (We have most of the spots) we can maybe tell the office that we don't care about the smoke.

The spots 82 and 83 would have been a carpool thing, but it was something that I wanted everyone to have a look at.
