I live just out of Springfield, so if I can be of assistence, please let me know. I also have some contacts in the Branson tourist community, so it may be possible to get discounted show tickets, SDC tickets, etc.

As mentioned, spring weather is definitely more chancy than fall. And fall is rather late here - early October can still find all the leaves bright green. Mid May to mid June would be my suggestion for an early season gathering. Did I mention tornado season?

SDC has a relatively new park called "Celebration City" aimed at kids. Apparently it is pretty good. There are two major and one minor Outlet Malls. Eureka Springs is less than an hour drive. There is a major, major new development along the river in downtown Branson called The Landing. It is simply beyond belief - very upscale shopping, dining. There is a much underappreciated scenic train ride out of Branson itself; really spectacular scenery. Shepherd of the Hills is a big draw.

i've regularly camped/floated the buffalo, white and north fork during march...
spring break week...15/25 years...
cool some years, and others wet. but such a nice season....
april is even better, with flowers and trees and critters a bloom'n
mid may on...too hot, too humid, too many people and bugs...

but any trip is a good trip...corp parks good, rural good.

i see 2 trips forming...
a camping trip and a branson trip...

weather can happen on any trip.

no less of a weather authority than the farmers almanac predicts april and may to be 8 degrees above normal for this region...

cheers

Looks like the sites have water and electric. I was by there many years ago and the sites used to be electric only. This looks pretty good. I see a group site that has water and electric, holds about 11 units, plus there are single sites around the group site. I'm not sure if the group site can handle 11 electric and water hook ups though. I might make a call and see what I can find out.

Looks like I'll have to bring the boat - Is the group site only for tents?

I just relooked at the details and it is a tent area only. Welcome to ReserveUSA

Forsyth--there is a nice city campground in Forsyth MO, hook ups and all.
It is on bull shoals lake and about 15 minutes from Branson.

My personal choice would be to camp here and drive to Branson if I wanted to see the shows or shop.

Across the lake from the city campground is a corps campground and the bridge is right there too.

Did anything ever come of this discussion? Dates planned?

I don't see anything in the upcoming rally schedule and was just wondering.

Hi Susan,

I couldn't find anything about this in the rally section and was just wondering if it was going to happen and, if so, when.

(Actually, we're going to be in Newport, Arkansas in mid-October and I was wondering if it was happening at that time.)

If we plan a rally in mid-October in Bull Shoals would you be interested?

Hi there!

It looks like interest in this rallye has waned. I know nothing aside from this thread.

Where is Bull Shoals? If it's not too far we would definitely be interested (I just started with a new company and have very little vacation time for this year). For that matter, where is Newport? Jefferson is about 25 miles south of Little Rock.

I was the one who opened up this posting originally. I was hoping to see a great deal of interest. I would like to proceed with having this rally, but I need to find a place that would fit all of the trailers interested. Since I have no experience in setting up rallies, is there someone who could help me through this for the first time? It would be nice to have a Sept or October rally with a chili cook-off to warm up the weather (And the trailers later that night) . Why that late in the season? Two reasons...my trailer won't be ready till fall, and the summer heat could deter some people from attending.

Who's willing to help me out? I would like to accomodate as many forum members as possible to make this a great event.

As far as planning... Just keep it simple. Pick a place and date and the rest will just happen. I'm not too far from the Branson area and if possible I would still attend.

I am in St. Louis, MO, but I am currently mobilized to Fort Leonard WOod which is about 1.5 hours from Branson. I don't mind doing a majority of the leg work, just need a little assistance.

Alumatube (Susan),
Newport is just NE of Little Rock and Bull Shoals is about 70 miles NW. Bull Shoals lake is about 15 minutes from Branson. Maybe we could set up a rally where everyone could be accommodated with regards to time spent. I know we wouldn't be able to spend more than 2 days as we're on a short time schedule coming from Nevada and all.

soldiermedic (Steve),
We are going to be in Arkansas mid-October and we would like to visit the Bull Shoals site where the commerative plaque is going to be placed -- site of the first Airstream rally in the 50s.

I was thinking of creating a rally for the Washing D.C. Unit members in the area. While I was looking for info on Bull Shoals I came upon your thread and here we are.

I'll help plan if the timing works with our trip. I'm talking with another WDCU member about it as well. It would sure be great to get everyone who's interested together before the cold and winter set it!

Let me know your thoughts or pm me.

Kimber

Wally 54,

As long as it would be open to all forum members regardless of WBCCI membership I would be happy to do it. Early October would work great....a Friday-Sunday or Monday would be nice.

Forum and WBers. This rally wouldn't have to be fancy. Just a fun gathering to celebrate the historic Bull Shoals rally and to see the commerative plaque that the 'IBTs' are putting up on April 20th weekend.

We could have a historic theme and our own commerative booklet (I can make). Maybe a special dinner menu with wine or vintage cocktails.
