When I phone in our reservations I asked the lady about coming early and leaving later. Apparently the gas $ has dampen the people flow, as she said it wouldn't be a problem. We'll call them again just before we leave and let them know the dates we'll be staying, including the rally dates. Just came thru that area a couple a weeks ago, coming from Texas, stopping at some friends in Buena Vista. Pretty area.
Best,

Wx3,

I know jcanavera plans on arriving early, and I think that my wife and I will arrive early and may stay later. I have lots of leave time to use up before the end of October when I come off of this two year mobilization I have been on.

Maybe it will turn into a longer rally "Unofficially".

I do know that I plan on smoking a pork shoulder before everyone arrives the 12th to offer pulled pork as dinner for any weary rally participants.

If anyone feels that they would be up for a potluck please let me know.

Steve

OOPS!!! I need to correct information in an earlier post. I stated there was access in getting from Campground North to main campground without having to get on the highway. This was incorrect. I had in mind a different area of the whole Compton Ridge setup. Not a big deal at all, but just wanted to correct my mistake.

BogFrog & Mr. Turbo,
The lady I'm sure knows more about traffic count in the area than I do, but you sure couldn't tell there was any slow down this past weekend. Traffic was already heavy, and campground I was at (and other which I "strayed" thru) were pretty full. Whatever the number, it will be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did it!!!!! I have made my reservation for my first rally. I hope things go all right and my Argosy and I can be there. Guess I better spend the summer making him look great so those silver guys don't out shine him. This should be fun.

Branson Rally

Sounds like fun. My wife and I have never done a rally, but Branson is only a little over an hour away for us. Like everyone else, timing will be an issue. She's a school teacher, so mid-June to early August is our only opportunity window. You don't really want to do southern Missouri in the summer w/o electrical hook-up, though.

Gerald,

The rally is in mid October...no AC required

Check out the PDF map that I posted a link to. There is a path from the motel next door to the main park.

Part of the reason we are going earlier is to allow us to spend a couple of days at Silver Dollar City. It's really a great place to go to and for us has been one of the main reasons we've been going down there for so many years. Note that the City is open on Wednesday through Sunday's only in the fall. Obviously Wednesday through Friday will be the lightest days of attendance. For those of you having an AAA card, you can get two day discount passes from the Auto Club of Missouri. A lot of the other attractions give discounts for AAA and AARP. Be sure to ask.

Regards,

Jack

Jack,
You of course are correct. I was mentally trying to visualize a trail from the north park office/pavillion area direct to the convention area at main campground. Totally forgot about the trail that goes behind the north park and hooks up with main park. You're just a regular "Daniel Boone". Ha I see where we now have 9 registered. It's building!!!!!!!!!!

Only 9?

According to my Private Messages, there are others who have made reservations, but have yet to add their names to the list. I encourage them to join the calendar page so that we may start a list for standby in the case we get to be too large.

I am VERY tempted to call the campground and ask for the 50% Good Sam membership on the main grounds if we can provide enough of a showing of business to them (With gas this high, they may go for it).

Many have expressed interest via PM in a pot luck the first "Official" night. If you would like to let me know what you are interested in bringing, I will start a list on the main calendar page.

Thanks,

Steve
