Update

I have spoken to the best local BBQ caterer, and they say that we need 125 to 150 people to have a real pig roasted.

I doubt that will happen, even though I AM bringing my moose of a youngest son :-).

So now we're down to a catered barbecue.. the menu would be slow roasted pulled pork, buns, au gratin potatoes, baked beans, pasta salad and we would provide our own table services and drinks. Price is going to run 7 or 8 dollars a person.

Send your thoughts on this.

Sounds Great. By the way do we need any type of reservation for the forest preserve or do we just show up?

No reservations; it's a Forest Preserve so you just show up. The Camp Host (BTW, it's not the old guy anymore, sad story) there knows us very well so will help us out, but you have to actually have a unit to drop on the site in order to reserve one.

Seems that cole slaw would go better with BBQ pork. How about adding that?

Bad news for you.. I HATE coleslaw. If you want some, feel free to bring some for yourself.

The menu quoted is their favorite, best selling items. It could probably be fine-tuned, but I just took the advice from the meat company.

I could bring the coleslaw if anyone wants that added to the menu. Also are we still keeping with an Hawaiian theme?

Electricity, yes. Water it is near by. With the group we have there is enough hose to fill your tank for just about any site.
Though your fridge may get emptied in the process.

Hopefully the weather will be better for our fall rally. Today the weather is miserable.Might need to think of a warm desert. Our basement took more water last night.Union which is near by had 2 inches of rain.

At my age you will have to forgive me. I forgot but assume there is a dump station.

Yes, there is a dump station. One funny note, it costs more to just use the dump station than to camp for a night and use the dump station.

Since I purchased a Flush King, I relaize how important it is not only to dump but to really flush the system several times. I think I must be paranoid but I could not beleive that it took about 7 uses of the Flush King to really clean the tank. Thanks for the info and we are looking forward to attending.

whats so great about camping??

Hi everyone!

I haven't checked this thread a for quite awhile.. I've been having terrible problems!

We were camping at Pec a MONTH ago, and when we were leaving, at the dump station, washing down, I left the truck door open an inch. Dephne saw a squirrel and raced off into the brambles after it.

Me, being the IDIOT that I AM, flung myself in after her.. for those of you that don't know, she's our deaf Jack Russell and I had visions of her racing out of sight and not being able to find her way back to us.

Needless to say, she was fine, Dilly (the other dog) brought her back, as usual, and I emerged with Poison Oak.

I've been to the doctor twice and am on my THIRD round of steroids.. a shot, pills and now cream. It started to leave and re-emerged as a huge allergic reaction.

I am NOT a happy camper.

Been there, had it head to foot. My doctor ordered up a special calamine like concoction (the pharmist had to mix it with a motar and pestal) that cured it in a short period of time. He said that one should Never use creams or salves. Hope that it clears up soon.

Boy, and I thought the mosquitos were bad after 19 inches of rain. Sorry to hear that you are itchier than I am. Finally starting to dry out. Will be working on the trailer and truck this week.
Do we still have the Hawaiian theme? Sue's luau was a great success and she has party supplies galore. Let us know if we are still going Hawaiian.
