Thumbs up We're Ready to Roast

Sign us up.
What a coincidence. I’m supposed to be working on the "lanai" but here I am screwing around on-line.
Sue is having a Hawaiian inspired party here with her nieces in a few weeks. She says she’ll have plenty of decorations to bring. Menu sound great. If you need any help let us know.
For those who kindly pointed out the deficiencies of my truck at Moraine View in June, we’ve gotten a new one. No more picking up pieces every time you slammed a door or wondering where that gas smell was coming from. Still not trailer ready but the new brake controller came today. Should be done in a week or so.

Looking forward to October,
Tom and Sue

Branson is 500 miles, so a bit of a drive for a weekend. Hopefully, a date change will allow more people to attend Pec.

We picked this date because of our work schedule. we're busy the weekend before, and the weekend after.

I also didn't think it was bad to have it the same weekend as the Branson rally.. there's no way we could travel that far and I bet (I know) other people feel the same way. So this gives us an option to do something we CAN manage.

We'll see all of our friends who go to Branson sooner or later.. but it looks like we'll be smaller and cozier than the Branson shindig. I just hope it's not too small for a nice sized barbecue.

Good choice for us. The weekend before we are busy as well as the following weekend.Let us know what we can do to help. Will have many decorations from the girls family luau. Have a book on ideas for a luau menu. See everyone soon.

I have some more work on the Ratstream. The last few trips are taking there toll. A couple of window lifts gave out and a few more rivets have poped. Such is life. But on the bright side, Delta still has parts for my kitchen faucit(sp?)!!! So I will not have that drip....drip....drip... all night. Found out that the battery lasts about a day and a half with the current set up. Maybe fixing the leak will help.

Looking forward to the get together.

Update

I have spoken to the best local BBQ caterer, and they say that we need 125 to 150 people to have a real pig roasted.

I doubt that will happen, even though I AM bringing my moose of a youngest son :-).

So now we're down to a catered barbecue.. the menu would be slow roasted pulled pork, buns, au gratin potatoes, baked beans, pasta salad and we would provide our own table services and drinks. Price is going to run 7 or 8 dollars a person.

Send your thoughts on this.

Sounds Great. By the way do we need any type of reservation for the forest preserve or do we just show up?

No reservations; it's a Forest Preserve so you just show up. The Camp Host (BTW, it's not the old guy anymore, sad story) there knows us very well so will help us out, but you have to actually have a unit to drop on the site in order to reserve one.

Seems that cole slaw would go better with BBQ pork. How about adding that?

Bad news for you.. I HATE coleslaw. If you want some, feel free to bring some for yourself.

The menu quoted is their favorite, best selling items. It could probably be fine-tuned, but I just took the advice from the meat company.

I could bring the coleslaw if anyone wants that added to the menu. Also are we still keeping with an Hawaiian theme?
