On Saturday the owner tried to take it for a drive to clean it up, only to leave it dead on the side of the road. By the time we got there his Dad was trying to help by pouring gasoline directly into the carburator and asking if I knew anything about carbs. Yeah, I know enough not to try and start them like THAT! I convinced them to help push it up on the trailer, handed over my money for the title, and brought it home. It might not run, but it's all mine!

Here's a picture of it on the trailer behind our mighty van in Goldendale, WA. And another of me in the driver's seat back home in the garage
Looks Great Stef ! We missed ya ! Glad your trip was smooth.

No disputes on the Deschutes!

This was a great rally site.......just enough room (CG was full)......just enough rain (not too much).......just enough AS's (a wide variety)......and plenty of time to sit and tell war stories on veteran's day! I'm glad I was there (even tho Cheryl couldn't come), and I got to learn more about my NW neighbor AS'ers. If I go back.....I'm taking my kayak (hopefully I'll have bought it by then) because there's two great rivers to try out! The campsite was at the confluence of the Deschutes and Columbia rivers.....and our campground was right on the Deschutes river.
Thanks everyone by pitching in and bringing food to share.....( I didn't get to eat Kathleen's braeburn apples though ).
I caravaned back with Brad and Kacee to Eugene, where I dropped off my AS for some warranty work. And guess who was at George M Sutton's RV.........Rich Luhr with his Air America AS Safari. I got to spend some time visiting him......he showed me his office (the dinette) and I was able to meet his family and tell him about our rallies out here. He said I was the first forum member he'd met out here . It was a priviledge to meet him and congratulated him on his magazine. I was in 7th Heaven on the 40 mile drive home !!

Here are some pics from the rally

Sounds like you guys had a great time, I'm sorry we missed it. But we're looking forward to the next one, as always! The picture of Hank eyeing Chris's burger was the best! ROTFL!

Jim, that's cool you ran into Rich. I've emailed so much with him over the years about our Caravels, I'm looking forward to actually meeting him someday

Great pics everyone!

It was great seeing everyone again at Deshutes. Kathleen's picture of Hank is a classic! mmmmm burgers.....

We went by Sutton's the next day and met Rich Luhr and his family and chatted trailers for a bit. We signed the guest book right after Jim. It sounds like they are having a great trip.

I, once again, took way too many pictures. Here a link to a gallery if anyone is interested:

http://bradkintscher.com/v-web/gallery/Deshutes

Thanks again to Janet and Gary for setting things up, keeping us warm in the weather, hosting burger night and feeding me linguica (mmmmmm). Netto's is on my bookmarks now.

When and where is the next one?

Brad (Kacey too)

Nice pics! I'm sooo glad you all took pictures - I had such a great time - i never got the camera out! I absolutely love that campground and think it would be a great place to have a group thing. We can rent the group space for 40.00 per night - fishing license extra...

I was impressed with everyone's backing skills - some of those spaces were tiny.

This sign was up by the "Henge". It seemed so appropriate!

Nice pics Brad/Kacey too. I especially think the peacock pictures are exquisite. Jim wanted the Industrial Area photo, but was too lazy to pull over to take a pic.

Here is my idea....March or April rally weekend here on the Columbia. Daroga State Park (10 miles north of Wenatchee) has a reservable group site with covered area for cooking and eating. Then I can maybe get us a tour at the Alcoa smelter to see where our Airstreams come from. Ahhhh. The primordial ooze of aluminium.
