Ron,
It's 12 miles South of Goldendale, WA on the Columbia River. Also just across the Biggs bridge from Oregon (about 40 miles east of Hood River). The Maryhill Museum of Art and Stonehenge replicas are nearby.
How old are your maps?

I Checked It Out!!

Here is the SCOOP for Maryhill:
1. Campsite per night--$22.00; Includes elect. and sewer only.
2. NO WATER AT CAMPSITES. They turn OFF the domestic water on Monday, Nov. 7th. , bummer! Winter water is available at a stand pipe across from the pay station.
3. A dump station goes with the rather high camp fees. But remember, no water for 22 bucks a night.
4. Firewood is available by the bundle, for a fee.
5. Saving a campsite for a friend--PROHIBITED !!!
6. Group campsite-- CLOSED FOR THE WINTER !!!
7. Campsites are gravel and nice and include both back in and pull thru.
8. NO SHELTERS of any kind!!!
9. WIND EXPOSURE--Very open along the river but the wind protection from the trees should be pretty good on the north side of the park .

Now for the DESCHUTES: Paved back in sites only/ no water or sewer/ elect.is available at each site/ you can save a site for a friend/ no shelters/ well treed with reasonably good wind protection/ firewood available/ great hiking and bikeing trail up the Deschutes River that starts at the campground/ COST--12 BUCKS ($12.00) per night!!!!!!!!!! THINK ABOUT IT!

Thanks--Bob of Bob and Molly

Thanks Bob for checking that out.......the website for the Deschutes State CG is http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_37.php .
It looks quite promising (plus the price is right)......and I for one would think there would be more protection from the wind. Maybe Jonathan could chime in if he has any further knowledge on this park. We could always drive over the bridge to Maryhill to check out the group site for a later rally during the summer.

The other great thing about Deschutes would be a great place to run the dogs. If the horses are allowed on the trail, then chances are the dogs could go off leash on the trail as long as they are under voice control. At least that is usually the rule in WA.

And we are still only a few miles from Maryhill Merlot and Stonehenge, or some sort of henge.

Sounds Good To Us, we're flexible.
What do you all say about the change?
I will try and PM everyone who has signed up already.
Janet will change the Rally calender if we get a majority for the shift.
Please chime in.

Just a little follow-up!
Janet pm'd me to see if the bathroom was going to be open at Maryhill; don't know, I forgot to ask. I tried to call (509-773-5007) today but just got the recorder. Janet you may want to call them on Monday unless the Deschutes is the new happening. The bathroom at the Deschutes is closed for the winter but they did put one of those nice plastic out-houses up! We could maybe hang an AIRSTREAM sign on it.

I can go whatever direction everybody wants to go since I will be only 10 miles from home either way!!!

It's Official.
Not to sound pushy.
Let's move the meet to Deschutes.
First one there, pick a loop with spare sites.

I see on the schedule of events on the rally calendar there's football game viewing...... So who's got a satellite TV to watch football???? I don't think an antenna will get much out there (not that I care that much) !
I see that Jonathan and Stephanie are coming.......Did Jonathan give his blessing on this CG??

It's a hard sell....

still trying to get the family interested in the cold! Honestly, my wife RSVP'd for a baby shower some time ago, so I'm not so sure we'll be there.
Bummer,
Marc
