What kind of weather can I expect at the time of this rally? 70s, 80s, 90s?

I think we'll be lucky if it's in the 70s, from what I remember it's a bit like where I live- but a bit warmer.

That is so funny, I thought I was posting to the Casini thread- obviously, completely disregard my post. I think it's going to be HOT!

Looks like a great location for a rally. I'm going to check my calendar and we're most probably going to sign up.

What is the best trailer towing route into Lava Beds from I 5? We may team up with Big Dee going up but in case that timing doesn't work I kinda want to look ahead. Lynn and I want to make a 'trip' of going to Lava Beds and can see including approaching or leaving LB via US 395 through Alturas. However, I don't see any 'safe' overnight places up that way.

neil,

i would recommend a stay at lassen national park. lots of things to do. i use to go there so much with my vw camper. if you don't have to have hook-ups, manzanita lake campground is super nice. otherwise there is a koa near by.

fall river mills is a very beautiful valley which is right on the way home from LB. there is a nice rv park campground there with wifi. i enjoyed a 2 night stay last summer.

and burney falls state park is also a nice stop. there's a lake and the falls and its a really big park with lots of sites but no hookups.

theres more choices, we can talk at casini. its like 3 weeks away. YES!!!!

when i was there last summer, it stayed very pleasant at the campground all day with a nice breeze. out in the lava beds can get hot but i was still able to hike around and i DETEST heat. also medicine lake looks so nice in the warm weather but i didn't have my suit, darn it. so i think everyone will find it nice all around.

Dan; I know you've been down with the flu, and you really should not drive or post while doing meds! The "Otters" are Ron and the other Linda! Paula and Steve are "cotydog" or something like that, I'm on meds, 12 oz canned kind.
yup SPAM you guessed it- medicinal purposes galore- fry it, steam it, warm it up on the intake manifold enroute, blend it with your smoothie, thin sliced, thick sliced or just jab it with a fork, you'll feel better immediately. and read the can.
I hope you start feeling better and get your memory back.

This sounds great. A perfect wrap up to the summer before heading back to work. Put me on the list, I'll definitely be there.

This is a Great place!!!

We stayed at Eagle's Nest two summers ago, it was GREAT! Lava Beds Nat'l Monument is also very interesting. Remember to bring a hard hat/helmet and headlamp if you plan on doing some caving, otherwise, the hosts may have some extra equipment to loan out. We've marked our calendar...hope to see you all there!

Looks good so far for rally attendance as many expressed at casini a desire to come. it might take a little gas to get to lava beds but that's what it takes to get away from the congestion and population zones. it's a rare pleasure to be free from crowds even in summer in cali. ummm.. can't wait.

Just thinking out loud....The last time we went to Lava Beds was when we lived in Washoe Valley (early 80's). It was a nice drive....a lot nicer than the I 5 route we may take from here in Placerville. It isn't a go for us yet but if we do decide to go could we slip in behind you and 'convoy' up together? Big Dee says he will go up 5 but he may just might consider......?
Neilo.

You're welcome to caravan with us. If I remember correctly it's about 3.5 hrs. from Reno. The drive is quite pretty once you're up through Susanville. We'll most likely head up on Friday. We'll firm things up closer to the event.
