We are coming in from 101, but getting off in Petaluma on Pepper road/stony point road. The exit comes up fast on you if I remember correctly. Its easy to find on the map, follow the various roads where it eventually turns into hwy 1, by bodega bay. Its such a quite drive, rolling hills thru cow country, don't have to deal with any santa rosa crap or guerneville. Dave and Penny pointed us this way a few years back. Really, really nice drive. Maybe Dave can give better directions, but check it out on a map if you are looking for an alternative to driving thru those cities.

BWTM: when you come in to Duncans Mills you have to turn left & go over the Russian River toget to Casini park, where we will welcome you to the "other side."

We have only attended a few years, have not seen a Thursday eve get together, but just knock on some doors, and try not to get too wet. Rain is planned for Thursday, but the weekend is shaping up to be great. Also note the chilly evenings, likely to drop to the 30's (that's warm for Neil) and bring a couple of extra layers of warmth.

Vinnie: is that DG's new rig? Before & after photos?

We are planning to leave Los Angeles Thursday evening after Becky gets home from work driving up US 101 and spend the night at Lake Cachuma north of Santa Barbara. Get up early in the morning and then continue up 101 thru Santa Rosa to River Road. The map looks a bit confusing south of the Golden Gate Bridge. Based on what I was reading in the posts above, this may not be the optimum route. Any comments or alternative route suggestions are welcome. See all of you soon!

We did the river road the first year and ya, that was fun in an adventurous way, but wouldn't do it again.

I posted a little bit ago what route we are taking, and Neil has his route listed out too, not too many posts ago.

Hi Scott
I would suggest taking 280 into SF, then 19th Ave to the GG bridge. Then north all the way to Santa Rosa and west on River Road. IMHO, the fastest and least confusing route. Carol

The drive from Petaluma to the coast is nice, and you can stop at the Valley Ford store to get some provisions, they have cool local cheese and meats. Since last year, a guy has reopened the ancient Duncan's Mills store, with some produce and some seemingly decent prepared foods too. Really nice guy, I always stop to buy something when driving through, we need those little stores!

Also in Valley Ford, check out West Valley Designs, Craig and Sharon, they have some very nice local stuff.

Maybe this is just short of having rally-logo pocket protectors, but nametags were mentioned and I think it would be kinda fun to have cards with our online names on our trailers. That way we can figure out who we all are early on... maybe that's just me, I'm terrible with names, I need a visual.
