Rollin' on the River...

What a great weekend! Thanks also to Jeff for Project Mgmt. skills, Neil and Lynn for photo's and décor, and to all who helped make a fun event. As one of the crowd from 2005, it has been an amazing journey seeing the event grow, and continue to flourish despite a lot of formal process and rules. It is hard to meet and talk to all the new people each year, and even harder to remember names, but glad they seemed to have good time.. It is great to see the young children happily working on hot dogs and brownies while the older crowd worked through pasta salads with goat cheese, flaming hot chili and deep fried turkey and hams.. The visiting donkey was another first...

The legend of the Margarita Ball continues, though with less Tequila-abuse than in some prior years, and the Happy Hour on Friday has almost become a wine-tasting and meal by itself.. The photo of the "recycling area" on the back bumper of Route 66 Airstream is a classic.

Finally, additional thanks to Jeff for negotiating a great deal going forward into next year's event, which should be another record..

A couple more pictures, showing the happy dining table (over 110' long), a much quieter Sunday morning, and the most creative cracker snack from the Happy Hour.. (Ladybug Crackers...).

Thanks Everybody :)

These rallies are successful because each of you contribute selflessly.
If there were policies, & procedures, rules & regulations, protocols & dues in place you'd be at home.
We all have an opportunity to share much, much more beyond our common connector "the Airstream" at these rallies. The Airstream is simply an ice breaker in socialization, we are all apart of what transpires next.

I take all of your feedback in and be rest assured I hear you
I do what I can to keep record of requests and concerns and create a better experience the next time around. I will work on changing the little map to include names. I have the advantage as I'm tracking this info a little more closely than most. Besides, isn't it more fun to meet new friends at these rallies by asking for names at introductions?

Sunday morning it was announced (announcements are keep to the minimum) the dates for the rally in 2014 at Casini!
The official dates are April 18-20, 2014.
There was a mad dash to make reservations for next year's Spring rally by those attending this year since Casini offered a discount for 30% off your next stay.
I'm sure I'll get feedback from someone regarding this

I will start a new thread for this Spring 2014 rally and link it to this one.

Speaking on rallies, there are several smaller rallies that I highly recommend any of you attend!

Cal Streamers spring rally (contact silverbacksurfer)
Airstream Forums - Cal Streamers spring rally

California Streamers Fall Rally ~ Kernville 7 ~ (contact ASwifey)
Airstream Forums - California Streamers Fall Rally ~ Kernville 7 ~

The Rally At The Pass - Dardanelle CA (contact Zugbug)

Cyclegirl47 is having a gathering in late May at Olema Campground in Olema. Send her a message for info

I have a small group gathering at Manzanita Lake at Lassen Volcanic National Park July 15th-22nd.

The point is "See More, Do More, Live More"

See ya out there

Update*

The car is being worked on as I write.. thinking I should just go down there and do it myself

The plan is that they leave the walmart parking lot and head to my house where a warm bed and shower awaits. They can leave from here rested with daylight.

Ya know, April 20th is Easter Sunday. Will there be an Easter egg hunt?

I hope Lynne and Neil are comfortable for the night and on the road again soon and thanks to Vinnie for helping them out.

One cool thing about the forum is that the rally isn't just the weekend of, it's the posts leading up to the event and then the follow-up posts and photos afterward. I love seeing the photos, and to read all the comments. What a great group, we feel so lucky to get to hang out with you all.

I also want to say thanks to everyone for the amazing spread Saturday night! And, I was touched by how many people put out gluten free crackers Friday- I think Cousin Eddie and I are the only GF ones- it's just so cool how thoughtful you guys are.

Peter

This would be fun! And perhaps, instead of candy, we can fill the eggs with mini packets of Tylenol, Tums, and Pepto Bismol to help recover from the potluck and wine.

We're still on a high from this weekend. In fact, if my work load isn't too heavy this weekend, we're going out again on Friday.

My better half Julie (aka: elvisinexile) is GF. As for me, I eat it all. She's always been a fabulous baker, and now she is perfecting the GF recipes. As Peter will probably attest, baking GF isn't as forgiving. Everything has to be just right.

Thanks for a fabulous weekend, everyone. It was great talking to everyone I got a chance to visit with. There just wasn't enough time to visit with everyone.

I love seeing the pictures. They freshen up even the freshest memories. Here are a few more, and a link at the bottom to too many to post here.

I wanted to give this a bump. I just talked to Marina Dunes and they still have a few spaces left. Grab a spot and come and join us!

I'll be arriving on Thursday, April 25. I hope to see you there!

The area is beautiful, the world class Monterey Bay Aquarium is minutes away, as is Elkhorn Slough. So if you like fish in tanks or otters on the water or just hanging out at the beach with other Airstreamers, this is worth the visit.

COIL.....not as I mistakenly diagnosed. Did not have much chance to fully diagnose it...we were blocking traffic before the first tow....I could have figured it out that if it wasn't the lack of fuel....it's ignition. A really quick test would have determined that there was none.

A real BIG SHOUTOUT to Vinnie....he hovered over us by going over to see how we were doing AND would you believe he arranged for a private patrol to check up on us in our trailer during the night in the Walmart parking lot! :b b:

Coastal View did a great job setting up a laid back gathering, making it easy to meet a bunch of great people.

I had a great time meeting new people and touring Airstreams and showing my poquito Casita.

My Casita Grande' is calling me back to its reconstruction and maybe by the end of summer it will be ready to camp in.
