FROM Bakersfield to the rally;
GET your a$$ on hwy 5 ASAP, sckrew 99, then 580 over t0 680 up to Benicia, 780 up 80 to 37, sears point hwy. to 101. (there's a shortcut here that's too long to describe, and it really saves minimal). then 101 N to River Road, left off the fwy, head west to Duncans Mills. easy peasy. flat & fast all the way.
of course if you want the scenic route go thru arkansas.
bring beer and attitude.

Hey Creech!

Heck yes, it's a great spot; the ride out is pretty cool. Casini is just inland from Jenner, so if you're into a jaunt up 1 on the bike that would be a god call. Stop by Saturday and stay for the potluck - serious food.

We'll be flying the debauched flamingo flag....

Thanks, but I got to get to LOS BANOS!!!!
From the 101 east it's not so bad, but from Watsonville to get to the 101, it's a bit of an adventure in spots. There are some turns that remind me of our dear Highway 1 north of Jenner. Some people only visit us once, only once.

Shoot, come on down. Our alu-twinkie was in Arizona between spring training and our daughter's wedding in May last year working on its tan, so we stayed in one of the cabins. I don't recommend them, there are some nice ($$) places to stay in Jenner or further up the coast there are some nice cabins near Fort Ross (they say $89 dollar spring specials.) I don't know the inland possibilities well so I can't say what might be back the other direction.

SURE DOES....I can count on 2-3 fingers how many times I've been happy to have a convertible at Casini. Maybe my 'threat' to use the Olds ninety eight made a difference. BUT keep the good thoughts.....things can change....

Don't let GPS lead you into the woods!

Time for the annual reminder for any other first-timers or forgetful repeat visitors to shut off the GPS north of San Francisco, or ignore whatever it says...

The first potential disaster occurs near Petaluma, when the GPS urges users to leave Highway 101 onto Hwy 116 West towards Sebastapol, which will take you eventually onto a 1.5 lane logging road (Gravenstein Highway) where you might see the bumper stickers on the rear of your own trailer as you exit a corner, if you look quickly... DON'T exit Hwy 101 until you get to Windsor area and Exit 494 "River Road" north of Santa Rosa and head west...

The second bit of programmed evil is near mini-village of Monte Rio west of Guerneville, where the GPS systems delight in sending people south across the river (near an old Quonset Hut painted in rainbow tones..) onto Moscow Road which winds along the south shore of the Russian River, and is a bad road for a motorcycle.. Bear right and STAY on Hwy 116.River Road on the north shore of the river until you reach Duncan's Mills and then turn left at the little train station and cross the river going up the hill to Casini Ranch.

There is a pretty decent motel with 10+ rooms at the Northwoods Resort and Golf course a few miles inland from Casini Ranch, along River Rd, if people are looking for an alternate place to stay...

I haven't seen a lot of anxiety around lists of food being brought, but also wanted to remind people to consider bringing an extra table to use as a serving table for all of the food. Also the usual reminder to plan on bring plates, utensils and beverages, as the event organizer (Thanks Jeff!!) is solely responsible for setting the date, time of Friday Happy Hour and Saturday dinner, and the weather...
