SURE DOES....I can count on 2-3 fingers how many times I've been happy to have a convertible at Casini. Maybe my 'threat' to use the Olds ninety eight made a difference. BUT keep the good thoughts.....things can change....

Don't let GPS lead you into the woods!

Time for the annual reminder for any other first-timers or forgetful repeat visitors to shut off the GPS north of San Francisco, or ignore whatever it says...

The first potential disaster occurs near Petaluma, when the GPS urges users to leave Highway 101 onto Hwy 116 West towards Sebastapol, which will take you eventually onto a 1.5 lane logging road (Gravenstein Highway) where you might see the bumper stickers on the rear of your own trailer as you exit a corner, if you look quickly... DON'T exit Hwy 101 until you get to Windsor area and Exit 494 "River Road" north of Santa Rosa and head west...

The second bit of programmed evil is near mini-village of Monte Rio west of Guerneville, where the GPS systems delight in sending people south across the river (near an old Quonset Hut painted in rainbow tones..) onto Moscow Road which winds along the south shore of the Russian River, and is a bad road for a motorcycle.. Bear right and STAY on Hwy 116.River Road on the north shore of the river until you reach Duncan's Mills and then turn left at the little train station and cross the river going up the hill to Casini Ranch.

There is a pretty decent motel with 10+ rooms at the Northwoods Resort and Golf course a few miles inland from Casini Ranch, along River Rd, if people are looking for an alternate place to stay...

I haven't seen a lot of anxiety around lists of food being brought, but also wanted to remind people to consider bringing an extra table to use as a serving table for all of the food. Also the usual reminder to plan on bring plates, utensils and beverages, as the event organizer (Thanks Jeff!!) is solely responsible for setting the date, time of Friday Happy Hour and Saturday dinner, and the weather...

Is a 10' water hose sufficient for casini ranch hookups?

Hope the weather gods smile on you guys... Just got back from long week end up at Lawson's Landing (Dillion Beach)... Got wet on Easter, but had a couple of sunny days... Crabbing was sparse, but we had some 'Dungy' snacks... Yummy!

Cant wait to see everyone - it will be our first trip out this year - summer shake down cruise!! We have several of those folding banquet tables that we'll toss in the truck for the potluck - I remember we needed more tables last year at Jackson. Thanks Condoluminum for the directions and gps tips!!

Thanks John! I placed an order for sunny skies on lay away with mother nature awhile ago. Glad I made the last payment this week to receive my request
I'll bring the long folding table you and Dianne gave me.
If no one creates a pot luck list, all the better, I like surprises!
See everyone in 7 days

THAT'S what Lynn has been telling me/you all these years. Pot lucks are surprises. Now let's hope everyone doesn't bring grilled shrimp......

A shrimp-themed potluck, hmmm. Shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp cocktail, shrimp kabob..... what could go wrong?

Maybe I should just bring meatloaf.. I think I need a meatloaf flag :-)

Time is approaching! Getting pretty excited.
Let me know if you encountered any mechanical problems on the way to Casini.. I might have something on the truck to help get you on the road again.

( no DG... alcohol is the wrong answer :-) )

I tried to find you a meat loaf flag the last time you 'threatened to provide ml. The only one that I saw was a banner for the pop singer...MEAT LOAF.
I can help you skewer the meat loaf for the grill.

Oh yes, this is helpful! Needing axles installed. Do you take a big high five as payment?

Uh, maybe a food list would be good? I'll bring dessert, flourless chocolate cakes.

If anyone out there has a gluten issue, pm me

We can't believe it's so close, we're looking forward to seeing everyone and just hanging out!

I like the idea of a potLUCK, but maybe if there are food issues, some labels might be helpful.

How about a label request list?

If we cook our chili with beer (but no beans), does that mean it's not gluten free, because of the grains in beer?

technically, yeah, it's not gluten free if there is beer in it. If someone is super allergic, it can be a problem. For me, the GF thing isn't the life threatening issue, it's a white fin-fish allergy that is the huge problem. I try to be discreet and not freak anyone out about it, you can pretty much tell what has fish in it. It doesn't seem that there are others in our group with food issues. Just let me know if there is fish in your chili!
