Yosemite adventure...

Yosemite was absolutely beautiful....full waterfalls, warm days.... Every night, we kept an eye on the river levels due to the snowmelt. Then, on Sunday night, the clouds rolled in, and it started to rain....and rain....all night long! The river overflowed, flooding many of the Housekeeping/tent cabins where we were staying. We had planned to stay through Tuesday, but we packed up and left early Monday morning.....good thing, since the valley was one big lake and many of the roads had water flowing over the tops. It was an interesting experience, seeing Yosemite in a way I had never seen it before...we hung around and took a few pictures on the way out. I had one Airstream (28' Excella, maybe?) sighting while there...I am sure the owner(s) were among those evacuated, and I was glad we were in the GMC Yukon rather than the VW Beetle!

Like you, as I sit hear and listen to the rain coming down outside, I am wondering when spring is going to arrive.... I will soon be complaining about the heat if the weather demons are correct about the temps this week-end (90 degrees!!!)

Have fun on your trip, Dan!!!

Cheers, Dee2

Wow Dee, you were lucky you didn't get stranded as I heard many campers were before they closed the park. Sounds like you got out just in time. Lucky the stream channels were cleared out by that last flood disaster a few years ago. Could have been worse for everyone. The news says there could be more flooding this weekend throughout the Sierra and Cascades. The dams are overflowing.

Let's pray for that sunny weekend and may summer begin soon.

I will settle for a return to SPRING!!! Let's just hope that our rally week-end is nice.... I must say that it is hard to beat the California coast in the fall!

Hey Big Dee!

Placerville sounds like a great kick off to my summer travel adventures (yet undetermined). I'm putting it on my calendar. Maybe we can convince a couple of others to join us for a mini-rally.

That might be something I could do too. I was just there in 'Hangtown" last month for a school trip to Coloma Gold mines. Lots of antique stores and history. Only a couple of hours away. My first rally was Casini a couple of months ago. I was there only an hour on a guest pass, but the folks I met were as friendly as if I had known them years! I was the only motorhome. Comments I heard were like my MH is just a trailer with a motor in front. Yes, and I like not having to hitch up too! KOA is a good choice as I've been to numerous. They are very clean and well organized. I'd like to make it! Hope to see you.

Hit'the'road & Astrokk-

Sounds great! The Placerville KOA looks nice from the pics. I can't wait to get on the road, this will be a perfect start to the trip. Anybody else want to join us for a last minute get-together? It will be fun.

T&Y-

I thought it would be a little too long of a ride for a weekend from Eureka but we will miss you two. Hopefully we will meet-up at the Spring rally, somewhere closer to Eureka. Love Hat Creek/ Burney Falls area of California- it's so beautiful with no population. Enjoy your trip!

We'll also be at Burney Falls for the Fourth of July Weekend. Is that what you meant by the 4th? Hope so! We'll look for the glimmer of aluminum in the woods.

Exclamation Posting from the top of the Rockies

Hey All,

I am checking in because I finally have WIFI here at beautiful Tiger Run RV Resort, Breckenridge, Colorado- the top of the Rockies. This is the nicest RV park EVER! Absolutely a gorgeous RV park surrounded by stunning scenery. I most highly recommend it to all who travel to the Rockies. I could stay all summer. But must be off for the plains tomorrow.

Thanks to Cam for showing up at the Placerville KOA. He made me a drink that knocked me out! It was a fun way to start the trip. Cam, how was Tahoe Valley RV Park?

As for the rally, I see no one else has decided to join us. There must be some thinking about it. There is still room to make reservations with PCV if anybody wants to join us. It will be an outstanding weekend so please join us! I've met a Airstreamer two spaces away who has my model but an '05 and is from Pleasenton who I am trying to get to come.

Hope everyone's summer trips are going great. Post some details everyone. I know I would like to hear.

Here are 2 pics: one of Cam's CCD at Placerville KOA and the other of my AS at Tiger Run RV Resort

Hey Dan,

I finally experienced the Airstream freedom of the road. Left Placerville and stayed a couple of nights at the Tahoe Valley RV park, nice place. I'm always a little amazed how closely those RV parks like to pack people in. Wasn't ready to come home so I moved to the east side of the lake and stayed at Zephyr Cove resort. Wonderful view of the lake, beautiful beach, a full resort with cocktail waitresses on the beach. It was a little pricey and again packed in like sardines, but nice. Then moved on for another night on the north shore at Coachland RV park. It was ok. Found some great state parks to stay in next time when I'm better equiped for boondocking. So the weekend in Placerville turned into a week at Tahoe. Now I'm ready to pack up and head out again. Just not sure where. I kind of like making up the plan as I go. Suppose I won't like it much when I can't find any place to stay. I'm looking for a Kayak now to go along with my travel paraphernalia. Hmmmm, maybe something in aluminum.

Keep us posted about your cross country travels.

Maine and Back...

Hey All NorCal Ralliers,

I am back after 8 weeks and 8,000 plus miles. Awesome trip. No breakdowns, disasters, mystery dents, severe weather encounters, or anything bad. I spent 3 weeks in Maine with about 3 weeks on the way out and 2 weeks coming back. Went Maine to Reno without unhitching on I80. Averaged about 350 miles a day. Best stops were Breckenridge CO, Verona NY, and Fort Bridger WY. Anyway, now the hard part: clean-up!

Cam, it was great to start my trip with you. Glad you had success in Tahoe. Hope you got in additional camping this summer? Now back to school.

The Rally is only 7 weeks away!!!

I sent PCV a letter concerning the extra dates for everyone. I will call this week to confirm they got it since I haven't heard from them. Anybody need to add (or subtract) nights? Let me know.

Also, if anyone needs to cancel, Ed Starman would love to take your place. Please let me know.

I guess we better start a pot-luck list.

It's time to start getting excited about the rally. I can't wait to see you all again!

Nor Cal rally

Dee,
Because of some changes at work it is going to be a real struggle to get the time off for the rally. If Ed would like our spot that would be great. We will miss being there, but will look forward to hearing about it later.

Yo Big Dee,

If Ed is taking Mike's spot - then we would like Ed's spot on the waiting list. Our family stayed at Pismo Coast last year and have been looking for a good reason to go back. This could be it !!!

Happy End of Summer to You!

I just put my coach away in the storage yard today. Won't see her again til the Rally. A little sad, but now really looking forward to October!

Sorry to hear Mike and Debbi can't make it. Will miss you guys. Glad Ed can now make it, though. Anybody else need to cancel, looks like Viginia would like to take someone's spot. Next time I'll have to get 20 spots for sure!

Think about a potluck dish for Saturday night's shindig. Think I'll BBQ wings again. Can't wait to see what special treat Excella has in store for us from his smoker.

Hello....Anybody Out There?

Hey you NorCal Ralliers, it's only four weeks til our rally and this thread is dead. Is everybody still coming? Let's try to build some excitement here.

Only four weeks until one of the best weekends of the year!!!

What can be better than that? I can't wait to relax at the beach.

A reminder that Pismo is bike paradise, so bring those beach bikes. Anybody else have a tip for everyone?

Jeff, hopefully, will supply firewood again. He always brings lots, lucky us. Thanks Jeff!

I also have my hopes up for a taste of some baby-backs from excella's smoker. We have a true BBQ expert in excella. Mmmm..my mouth is watering.

So...let's get this potluck list for Saturday nite going. I have been having excellent success lately with terriyaki tri-tip so...

Potluck List
