real bummer news. it's a sad day when a founding member of the norcal troupe can't make the rally. you and dianne will be missed. and don't even think of missing the spring rally. your attendance will be mandatory. period.

John, sorry you had to work, that makes two of us.
Ingrid and Jeff: I live nearby to Paso Robles and have a large tent with a center divider, kinda makes 2 rooms. PM me if it is needed. I have to work during the rally but I could probably get the tent up there.

Hello to all, its been awhile however we've had the stream at C&G the month of August having upgrades done then we took a trip starting a Flying Flags then Pismo Coast Village, then we had two days before Sea Cliff, hello Big Dee. Well after missing the rally at Lake San Antionio last time we decided to check it out, its now being built into our Thanksgiving trip to Sea Cliff. One night while watching the sunset and in the cove below there was a boil of strippers that I've never seen before there must have been 30 or more feeding on bait.
Taking the stream back to C&G for more work,so being at the rally will be a mental one at this time.

tent
If we do come, and we'll still try, we'll grab a motel room overnight down there. We would most likely be with 3 kids and it's just not worth the hassle to put up a tent to sleep in for one night when we can just motor on down there from somewhere close (or not so close, I remember not finding anything in King City last time).
Thanks all tent offerers! It's good to be loved!
I did get my ticket...we'd leave Saturday and come on down to say hi. We might even throw a mattress in the truck bed and just lie there and look at the stars at night. I've always wanted to do that!
Anyone going to the Renaissance Faire the weekend of October 7th-8th in Casa De Fruta? We'll be hanging around there that weekend.

So sorry I won't be able to make it this time either. I was going to try but it's just not going to work out.
I will have just gotten back from the Balloon Rally in Albuquerque and then have another rally the weekend after LSA. I do have to stay home once in a while. Sigh...
So many great rallies, so little time!
Tickle a spider for me and I'll see you all at another rally soon!

tarantula trivia time
Tarantulas have eight closely grouped eyes, but funnily enough, their vision is not great.

OOps - I forgot my duties for putting up tarantula facts weekly. Well who can you trust anymore...
Quote:
Males wander in search of females, usually during the summer months (July to November). They sometimes stray into homes where not wanted. Females may live up to 35 years and usually molt at yearly intervals. Males are relatively short-lived, five to seven years at most, and do not molt after maturity. Some live in burrows with camouflaged doors constructed of silk and local debris, watching for nearby insects.

BTW - I can bring some wood.

Tarantula dreams....
I'm very excited, because I've been finding some really wonderful tarantula decorations lately. All to be displayed at LSA!
May I suggest that we create a Burning -Tarantula bonfire (like the Burning Man), sculpture. To be bon-fired on Sat- Nite, post pot luck.
I know we have many creaive minds amongst us AND we could have a festive Tarantella dance around the burning Arachnid. Anyone want to do this?
Call me crazy!!!
I will bring my violin and play till the Burning Tarantula is a glowing cinder!

Ethnomusicologist dream!!
yes, gypsy music!!
I'll bring me and LL,
We'll dress as vagabonds
tap dance on the tables
play flamenco guitar
drink wine in excess
gaze into the burning web that we weave
turn on the strobe lights
flip flaming marshmallows into the nite
scour the hillside for the real spiders
cover them in chocolate
and crispy cook them on rudimentary
spears that we fashion
as we await the midnight hour.
lite the fire

I knew there were artists in this group of "vagabonds"!
And at the Midnight Hour Babee!
I shall count the tentacles afire.
Quench thy thirst
With liquor bursts,
Unto mine own desire!
