We!'re in ! Bringing the '57 Flying Cloud this time (sold the '67 Safari) plus the usual 'Singing Bouvier Douet".
Looking forward to a great rally.
FYI everybody- we will probably be shooting footage of everything with our new pro HDDV camera for possible documentary use on the growing Airstreamomania, so if you want to look good- get polishing!!!

nice to be missed

Now that I finally read through this thread I noticed that TWO people wondered where I am...nice to be missed!

The cabins at Lake San Antonio are all available!! I am going to reserve one and guess what...the gal taking reservations has a 60's vintage Airstream! I told her to come on by. I don't think she knows about this site. She didn't know about the rally.

I'll be bringing my 7 year old she'll be delighted to have kids to play with.

And I'll bring food. Dessert? Brownies? Drinks?

we luv potlucks!

Hi Big Dee -

You can sign us up for a big pot of Texas Chili with Chocolate. It's always a crowd pleaser at our family functions and it goes great with red wine!

We are really looking forward to the rally. We've been working hard on the 'stream so she'll look her best (or at least better than she's looked in the last 20 years .)

Choc. Chili & Sauerkraut

Naturally, we look forward to all the dishes from Chocolate Chili,Teriyaki Chicken Wings to Kartoffelpuffers. The food and drink is always a highlight for the Airstream festivities.
Question: Is there a ice facilty close-by? Unfortunately we don't have a portable beer cellar in our Tradewind and will need to bring the mega ice chest.

Karin,

There is a little store down by one of the waterfront campgrounds, near the Marina. Perhaps someone could call ahead and make sure that it is open in October, and whether or not it is stocking plenty of ice.
Otherwise, it might be a long drive into town.
Ok, I called this number 1-805-472-2311, and the very kind lady confirmed that the store is open year round, usually very well stocked, and does carry lots of ice for the camping and boating crowds. Yay.

John McG

p.s. Rough translation: bring German beer and snacks for Friday eve party with perhaps singing of traditional German songs...

AllRIGHT!!!

This is shaping up to be a good party!!

We reserved a two bedroom cabin for that weekend at the lake. I don't know how far from the campground the cabins are, but we have a freezer...and I hesitate to say this, but if it rains...a place to hang out together, but Uwe's trailer is so much more intimate and cozy...

Who's got the Margarita ball? I have leftover fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice from a 'rita party we just had here.

I don't mean to be a tequila snob, but I can't drink anything "gold"...I'll be happy to bring down some top shelf stuff to minimize hangover effects...I prefer to think of myself as "getting delicate" rather than "picky"...

I don't really have anything I'm specifically signed up for, so I'll wait until the event gets closer and bring what's still needed.

This is going to be sooooo fun!! Can we sing "Schnitzelbank?" and "Mein Hut Er Hat Drei Ecken?" We can lock arms and rock back and forth, and Lake San Antonio will ban us forever.

Toys

BigDee,

I am bringing our Tandem Kayak and 2 Mountain bikes, for us and anyone else to use. The Lake is just big enough to get a nice workout with the Kayak. And the surrounding area makes for great mountain biking, or hiking.
Pictures on the way!

I'll also bring my boots for hiking and my GPS for geocaching...anyone up to join me?

Love the kayak idea...

Uwe,

I would love to take you up on the chance to paddle your kayak. Someday I may want to add a kayak for our travels and would like to get some experience with one before I buy or build one.

My father built me a small canoe to take along with our AS on trips. It's only 12 feet long and weighs 40 pounds. We will pick it up in Massachusetts next year.

Mine is sort of clumsy, like the school bus of Kayaks. But it is stable and safe, even for beginners. Since it is a tandem, it does take 2 to paddle it.
