Big Dee,

Might be fun to confer some honorary awards. How about "oldest trailer", "newest trailer", "greatest distance from stationary home", "oldest owner", "youngest owner", ...?

I'm sure that the creative types among us could dream up some interesting categories. Looks like a terrific turnout. We'll be there on Thursday to secure a prime spot!!

Once again I missed this thread until now....

We will have to miss this one. As my trailer is in many many peices!

I hope to have it at least road worthy by the Spring get together!

Paso Robles Harvest Wine Tour - Oct 20 - 22

We spent a few days in Paso Robles last month (yes, while it was crazy hot! ) and had fun exploring the bounty of wineries and tasting some great wines. I just happened to notice that the weekend of the NorCal Rally Paso Robles is hosting their annual "Harvest Wine Tour" where most of the wineries offer tours, special tastings, and events like hayrides, grape stomping, and art shows. Sounds like it will be a fun weekend in the wine country!

More info on the harvest: http://www.pasowine.com/events/harvest.php

A wine tour? How cool! Problem is I seem never to get away from the campground on Saturday but that would be fun. Wine is good...

Who has a movie idea for the Saturday night "drive-in" movie? We had a lot of fun watching the Airstream shows that Tim put together last time. But we need a movie for this time (must be DVD, no VHS). I was going to show "The Long, Long Trialer" as Tim has that on DVD but we will have to save it for next time. What other movies could we get that are on DVD? Whats Eating Gilbert Grape has an airstream theme in it. What else?

What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a great movie, one of my personal favorites. But then, I am a big Johnny Depp fan. Baghdad Cafe has an Airstream in it, as an Artists home/studio.
Wasn't there a thread recently with Airstreams and movies?
I have the DVD that came with my Airstream anniversary book, have not seen it yet in it's entirety. I think it has vintage caravans etc, in it. Might be boring, I don't know. Too bad we can't have Fred Coldwell with us, he did a great presentation of the history of Airstreams a few years back at a Colorado Springs VAC Rally.

As far as 'movie night', I can bring a LCD projector that we can project on a sheet somewhere. As long as there is power...

How about Albert Brooks' "Lost in America"? While not strictly about Airstreams, it still involves an RV as a means of escape, a dream shared by many Airstreamers no doubt.

Here's the synopsis from Netflix:

"David (Albert Brooks) and Linda (Julie Hagerty) live a boring life. David has dutifully obeyed orders at an ad agency for 8 years, while Linda has devoted 7 years to a dead-end job. But after David gets fired, the couple impulsively embarks on an odyssey of discovery, traveling across the United States … and when they park their RV in Las Vegas, all bets are definitely off!"

scary

myoung,

The movie "Lost in America" is partially to blame for me not "opting out" earlier in my life. It is very funny, but, if realized, very scary. I agree that it would be a good flick for the Airstream crowd.

We have about 3+ at work. I will bring one along. It is one of those computer interface types. I can bring some speakers also.

Robin Williams in RV?

How about Robin Williams in 2006 release called "RV" filmed mostly in Colorado with large rented Motor Home. Will be on DVD released in 3 weeks.. Some funny and interesting moments...

A current laptop with DVD Drive could function as player interfaced to projector unit. Do I need to bring mine??

Non-linear scale, but...

Ebert rates "RV" 2 stars and "Lost in America" 4 stars.

We're definitely arriving on Thursday and will probably stay over to Monday or Tuesday. Nice time of year to just hang out. Being retired sure opens up the options. Liking it.

So do we just pull up to the gate and ask for a spot with the other silver trailers?

On-the-Road, Lakeview OR

Hello Everyone-

Coming to you with free wifi from a truely special RV park in Eastern Oregon. Its called Junipers RV Park and its on a 8,000 acre cattle ranch. And they encourage guests to explore the ranch. Lots of wildlife to see and trails to hike all to myself. I want to do a rally here next summer for sure because I will definitely be back next summer. Who will join me here next August? Think about it!

Anyway, glad to see the thread is so active. Now to answer some questions:
Quote:

There will be no one manning the office in October and it's self-registration. Just find a site you like then register. Remember Southshore Redondo Vista Campground.

The dates are what you want to make them. Come for a day or the week. I am thinking of taking 2 days off of work and arriving on Thursday. Most people come for Friday and Saturday nights.

The "drive-in movie" started last time at Casini with my DLP projector/ Mac Powerbook, Cam's Bose stereo, Tim's Airstream DVD and Jeff's "screen". Worked great so it will be a new tradition. I vote for "RV" with Robin Williams. It would be really dumb to a non-RVer but I think we would all laugh at the black tank jokes. I also found "Lost in America" to be hilarious.

Finally, WOW!!! Look at this rally list. 27 people??? I wonder if it is legitimate or if some are on that list by mistake? It does look to be the biggest NorCal Rally ever!

It's a Par-tee!!

Actually, Big Dan, I think it's 27 trailers!!! Which means that it's going to be at least double amount that in people! Thanks again for organizing this event.

Mark and I still have an empty space where our old gaucho (Ow-cho!) used to be, but we are still going to come. Don't judge our unfinished portion, at least we're camping!

Incidently where is Ingrid (Pinkflamingoes)???.....and Creampuff???...TallZach ( I know you moved, but ya' gotta come!).

Cam-are you bringing a surprise drink? Last time it was blood-orange Vodka-martinis...good times! hmmmm....

We're looking forward to the the big shindig....and shenanigans!
