Steve, Sorry to hear your troubles. I was at the rally when you arrived, glad you made it safely. Sorry you have to tent it.
I was only there about 4 hours due to time constraints. I met some super people, helped (watched) remove a goucho, watched a rivet replacement demo and the beginning of an awning install.
I have to say, when you folks camp, you are BUSY. It was nice to see some of the techniques and to talk to different ones about their trailers and projects.
I'll post a few photos when I get them developed. (Yep, still use film)
I saw a lot of other cameras there, I'm sure there will be plenty of Pics.
All I can say is WOW! What a great bunch of people and Airstreams! We had such a fun time! It is so cool to put a face with the forum name. Can't wait for the next rally and meeting with all our new friends again. We have a bunch of photos so I will make those available ASAP.
Well, we've only been home about 2 hours and I just couldn't wait to log in and post about the rally. What a hit! We will never forget this weekend and our first rally at Lake San Antonio. The new friends (or, old friends who just haven't met yet...right Ingrid?), the food, the perfect weather, the margarita balls, the advice, the demonstrations, the kids, the laughter, the dogs, the spud gun (oops, should I say that out loud?), the turkeys, deer,....oh, and all that beautiful silver everywhere! What a blast!
Thanks Big Dee, and others, for organizing such a fun and relaxing weekend for all. We feel very fortunate to have been included; we will surely be back again and again. Including a few pictures from the weekend....
That sure was a great rally...so many fun people and what an amazing collection of Airstreams. And the food Saturday night...wow! We could have fed two or three campgrounds. It was a nice location too. It was pretty and there was plenty of room to camp without being crowded. I have lots of photos (many happy faces and shiny trailers...not to mention dogs, deer, more deer, and attacking turkeys) which I will find a place to post soon.
Thanks to the organizers. Let's do another one soon. The "reserve your own spot and show up" concept seemed to work very well. And being located near the middle of the state seemed to draw from all over.
A special thank you to all who rushed to the scene of the awning vs. oak incident with all your help, creative problem solving, tools, and support. Bam is resting comfortably at Sky River awaiting an awning tune up, hopefully no worse for the wear. (I'll keep you posted.) You all saved the day! I owe you a beverage (or two) of choice at the next rally.
Going Campin and Crkwolf had a wonderful time. It was our first rally and we look forward to attending many more. I'll let him talk for himself so for me...I truly enjoyed every aspect of the rally. The people there were so friendly and a lot of fun to hang out with, chat with etc. Things were going great until someone mentioned about the abundance of tarantulas in the area. No problem, I'll keep my eyes open and not wander off in brush area and stay away from the lake, lol so I thought. So the last day there, I'm sitting in a chair talking with the Condoluminums and my darling husband tells me to get up and move forward. Naturally I knew he wasn't telling me to move for a bee and I'm thinking there's a tarantula about to crawl up my leg. So I jumped up and fled forward, with my genuine Airstream cap on and I can't see, and proceeded to run into the awning head first. Apparently while I was trying to knock myself out on the awning support the tarantula was walking underneath the chair I was sitting on. Of course my husband just shook his head and said, "you didn't need to run, it wasn't that close, if it was I would have said something". I don't like spiders, especially ones that size that could wrestle me to the ground, ok maybe not, but I'm not sure... lol. Got a nice headache but all is well. Who knew those things could be so hard for aluminum.
Besides all that the last day, met some great great people and saw many really neat Airstreams. Wonderful wonderful time. Oh yea, "spud projecters" are a four letter word out there, so I won't mention any names.. .
Thanks BigD for spearheading the event!!! and to everyone who pitched in. Fantastic job!! Once I get my pictures developed, since I forgot my digital, I'll have them posted.
Now that post requires a little more information.....
Unless someone else wants to go into more details, let's just say it involved projectiles and sobs which brought in the ranger and the sheriff's dept. But I didn't hear or see anything nor do I know who they were referring to that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I think I heard rumours about a spud launcher though, but I don't know, I could be mistaken. roflmao.
