Connectivity

Does anyone know if there is cellphone and/or internet access at Lake San Antonio?

We've got some issues here at home that may need some long distance monitoring . . .

Virginia

Virginia,

My verizon phone worked fine at the group site in June. I don't know about internet, but then I didn't try. The rally site is in a bit of a hole, but you should be able to find phone access by moving if not in the campground.

It does depend on your carrier, some folks boat to the middle of the lake and get service, although I too think you could drive a short distance in your vehicle. It is mountainous country, in the middle of nowhere.

Last time i was up there my reception with T-Mobile was lousy at best. I now have Verizon, hopefully that will work better, as I will have to be able to communicate with my office for two of the four days that I will be there. If all else fails, there are pay phones, I believe at teh store near the Lake.
I won't need internet, though.
There is an RV park ( Wine Country RV) a few miles east of 101 right off HWY46 that have wireless internet. They are very nice people, and might allow you to log on and check your e-mail one last time etc. on the way in to Paso Robles.

btw. Google Earth has a pretty good image resolution of the Lake and the park. You can follow the road up to the lake, and see the Redondo Vista camping area as well as the boat launch and South entry station .

Unfortunately- one hopeful is out!
hi creampuff
repairs all done. fully expected to come to the norcal rally. it isn't gonna work for me this year.
i'm bummed. was really looking forward to meeting this group of people.
it's a 4-5 day trip for me just to get there and i've got issues that keep me from leaving with enough time to make it.
i'm also going to beverly beach in oregon but just can't leave in time for both.

well another year or rally i hope. you folks are gonna have a great time.

enjoy and regards

Sounds like a fun group with plenty of tasty food and beverages to be had.
Looks like I'll be flying solo (well along with my dog Eddie as co-pilot). I'll probably be there late Thursday or early Friday and will try to grab someone to help direct me into my space so I don't mow down any trees or wildlife!

To the other solo Newbies out there, this is only my second single trip (I went to Lake Tahoe a couple of months ago) but it is a piece of cake. The Airstream was a surprisingly easy tow and a dream to camp in so no worries. I'm still learning (flying by the seat of my pants actually but so far it's working well ) so I look forward to meeting all you experts and hearing all of your AS wisdom (and sharing your wine, hehe).

See you all at the rally!

Eddie (the wayward Beagle) who just got his dose of anti-tick medicine

quote 174

I sure would like to rsvp, trailer cannot come, sway bars stolen prior to bringing down from Yreka, Have been told I was blessed i had no accidents, plus no TV rated to tow, numerous issues,
but I sure would be honored to join the group on Saturday and bring food, an extra table and some chairs and join in festivities. Oh yeah and liquid mood enhancer.
Big Dee do I need to pm you for more specific rsvp and sign up for potluck or classes (or was that a joke?) let me know the hoops i gotta jump through.
Thank you!!
