We're booked into Jackson RV in mid-May for another long weekend with some SOB friends from So-Cal...
We just wanted to get in a 'session' without some rain and fog up there...
That being said, it will probably storm on us anyway....
I've fixed up a steel rod tripod to hang our dutch oven over the turkey frier burner - I'm going to cook up a pot of Chile Verde in May - if it goes over, OK, I'll try it again in October - it's a great 'stick-to-your-ribs' dish...and of course a batch of those yucky 'Blue Halo' deviled eggs...

A couple of days away from home will be perfect just then. I can use the time to shake out the playa dust from everything.

Rich, you are in the middle of "party central," so everyone will be hanging around your Airstream! I always miss meeting people at these rallies with 30+ people....I think I missed out on meeting you, and we were there from Thursday through Monday!
It looks like we are filling up the list of available sites!

But he will get it tomorrow. Its in the male. (the Check that is).
Now I have to start thinking of some new and fun thing to cook in the balmy breezes of Jackson. (Balmy breezes are forcast are they not?)

Hi Warbler5, It was a whirlwind trip for me. I would have gone up friday afternoon, but my son had planned his 24th b-day party at Seabright beach and I couldn't miss it. It was still a weekend filled with good folks and campfires for me! That's hard to beat. I'll look forward to meeting you.

Ken and the group,
Is there any interest in doing some Dutch Oven (DO) cooking? We could do this for our Friday get-together.... Perhaps, if there are not enough experienced DO chefs, we could impose on the experienced ones to do a DO demonstration! It would be fun to learn a new skill....
Cheers, Dee

It's hard to do the 'real' dutch oven cookout up at JRV as they won't let you use open fires...
I'm trying to get 'close' to real using a tripod to hang the oven, fired by the gas burner from a turkey frier set-up - works OK, but you aren't able to get the heat from above as you would with coals laid onto the lid of the oven...

We're in.....
if you'll have us.
I was lurking because I was at work and wanted to confirm with the lovely and gracious. After all, it will be over the anniversary. But, how better to spend it than with friends.
Coastalview, I'm attempting to follow the procedure, there is a PM for you requesting a spot.
Apologize for missing Casini, but godfather duties called.

I am not a Dutch Oven user
But I love fresh biscuits. Shanah is working on something for Friday night happy hour, but are we going to the casino for buffet again?
I like one pot meals like paella or chili. (Shanah thinks I should do chili again) I was leaning toward some thing else like stroganoff but its too early to know what I'm in the mood for.
Are we talking the DO cook style where the oven is buried in the coals and taken out when done? Or the hang over the fire all day and throw whatever the cowpokes catch in the pot?
Man I like talking about food almost as much as talking about drink.

I went on one of those rafting trips down the grand canyon and the cooks made this cherry cake thing in a dutch oven, they set it in the fire and shoveled coals on top of it. When it was ready they scooped it out and inverted it on your plate, so, you had this nice yummy cake with warm cherry stuff all over the top. Was very good. We have a dutch oven. Are there fire pits? I could try to get the recipe for this? Seems like it needs chocolate though.
