Convention? Naw, it was a total coincidence. We were all just flabbergasted.

Don't worry.... we will make it to JRRV... we hope

First the bad news...
Well, I walked out to the parking lot at my office to go home after a long day and well.... I was pretty bummed by what I saw. I was the victim of a parking lot hit and run. Someone, going the wrong way hit the left rear corner of the Tundra and ripped off the tail light and half of the rear bumper! Now, how to pull an Airstream with about 3 feet of bumper oriented at 90* from its original position.... Don't thing that is going to happen.

Now the good news...
I think I have found a body shop that will commit to getting my truck fixed and back on the road by next Wednesday (possibly sooner) just in time to get it loaded up and leave for Jackson Thursday evening. Really hope they can do what they claim! we don't want to miss any of the fun... If all goes well, we should arrive by early or mid morning on Friday.

See you there... we hope,

Aaaah! Scott, I sure hope you and Becky can make it. There must be someone who can do body work in that amount of time.

Ouch, Scott! It's rally time in CA this month, and you're one of us few duel ralliers! NorCal on the 12th, and SoCal on the 19th. You gotta get that rear end straight and safe to tow!

By hook or by crook we will do our best to get there. The body shop claims they can get the work done within 5-6 business days if I get the truck to them by noon tomorrow. So, I will be dropping it off after my first two meetings in the morning and should get it to them before 10:00 am. They are one of my insurance companies preferred body shops so they claim that they can expedite the process (per the insurance company and the repair shop). I just hope that they aren't just acting like the typical salesman to get the job, as they say (whoever they are) 'you know when a salesman is lying when their lips are moving'. But I have faith, we will make it!

Now we just need to find the culprit who did this. We have security cameras at work and they have taken a report and will search the security tapes and see if they can ID the hit and run vehicle/driver. If that happens I won't have to pay the $500 collision deductible (assuming they have insurance) and will have money for more beer and wine.

See you there!

I wish you best of luck in getting this squared away. I hope they can get your rear end straightened out!

My workplace just upgraded all our cameras because they were old with poor resolution and had no details that would be useable by the PD. I hope the location you were in is better.

So we have to subvert any interlopers: we aimlessly wander over, just 30 or 40 people show up at the site by coincidence, and then...we are real NICE (just ourselves): invite them to the potluck & they will be so blown away they will dump their SOB & buy a shiny silver tube to live in.

Another convert.

If that doesn't work...

I agree. We convert them.......my fear would be that the sob occupants after parking their rig spend their awake stay in the casino.

We could bring the 20'x30' aluminet from our Burning Man shade structure and "aluminize" their trailer while they're gone. I'm sure they'd be happy to fit in with the theme.

They might even pardon the dust.

Ha, that would be funny Barbie. Maybe just wrap them in a few rolls of aluminum foil.

I think there are a couple folks out yonder in some of the outlying sites....maybe one of those folks could switch sites! We need to keep DG calm....it just works better that way....besides, I am his next-door neighbor!!!!

DG...calm...I thought he was/is. However, if he get's outta hand, I'll reach up and....turn both my hearing aids off.

Yay, we are back on track

Well I got the estimate from the body shop to repair the damage to my truck. Looking at ~$2,900 and it should be ready COB Tuesday next week. I had them do a very thorough inspection of the trailer hitch assembly and all of the welds. The results of this inspection show that everything is up to spec. Now all we have to do is catch the hit and run driver so I can recover my deductible....

Looking forward to seeing everyone Friday afternoon the 12th at JRRV!

so, as a basic peacenik, and a safety guy, I think we have to do a risk assessment, and I think the risk in this case is...DG. But we do have our methods, I don't anticipate any problems: everyone bring your laser safety glasses and rad suits.

Hi, I need to wash my trailer and start getting things ready, but it has been too hot lately. Hoping for cooler weather in a few days.

Oops, forgot about washing our AS (and it's REALLY dirty). Hope I can find someone to help me pull it out of storage this weekend while my truck is in the body shop! I don't think my Chevy Malibu rental will pull the trailer....

That's great news Scott. I've been working on a backup plan to help get you north, but haven't solved some of the minor details yet. Let's hope we don't need Plan B...
