Dance?

Anyone want to have a dance on friday nite?
With the large flat concrete pads no one would twist their ankles!
or we could just hang out and get hammered- I suppose.
I know it's a long ways away, heck I might forget how to dance in the meantime.
Well back to my "Dark 'N Stormy"

Mex-lookin good! Is the new gas station open yet- just below the rv place?

altamont-come on and join us!You know you like the place!

Paula and Steve- whoo hoo!

I'm working on the fire pit-looks like it'll be a 30" diameter thing- "The BTU Express". I'm trying to use some old bbq parts and a few weed killer nozzles, and a few left over Holly 4 bbl carbs, hopefully operator error will not influence the design. It'll be nice to have for the dance, lol

The new gas station was not yet open as we drove by this morning...there was a tank truck there dropping it's load!

It looks like they will open any day now...

I wonder if they will be exempt from Fed or State gas taxes as the station is on Indian Reservation property??? There is no State Sales Tax when you buy meals, etc. at their other sites on the 'Reservation'.

I'll give an update when I find out more.

Altamont...I think the cat's out of the bag already, as everybody you talk to there in the RV park wants to come back, or has been there several times already! It was sold out for Memorial Week End some time ago, but we just kept calling, and got in because of a cancellation...they won't put you on a 'waiting list', you have to keep calling, which is a bummer.

We didn't get to meet the other Streamers in the Excella...walked over a couple of times but they were away.

Also, they've raised their prices from $27/nite to current rate of $36 per nite! I knew it was too good to last at the lower price!

If you use AAA or Good Sam the rate went down to $31 (or close to it). I would love to go but I have to talk the shy one (wifey #1) into going. She is pretty shy (unlike her husband #1) and likes to sit around, paint, read and explore. I will work on her a bit more. Maybe some new shoes will prime the pump.

FYI, the park does not allow charcoal BBQ (only gas) or fire pits. I hope this doesn't crimp anybodys style.

As long as it doesn't crimp my hair.

Is this camping of the future? No charcoal? No firepits? Do we get to tan in the moonlight? Or is that also forbidden?

Karin-YES it is the wave of the future, just look at all the dry forests and the lack of rain we are having here in NorCal.Anything that can produce flying embers will be forbidden at times at some locations.
Propane fire pits ARE O.K. at this rally, flaming marshmallows are out!
we could camp in the snow or the arctic or minnesota or one of those other god forbidden places, texas, oklahoma, nebraska; places where there ain't nothin to burn. stirrin it.
so how's the food at the evening buffet anyway?? any reports from anyone that's been there? The breakfast buffet was good. got senior discounts also.lol

gunner'

We ate at the Raging River Restaurant's buffet last night...BIG salad bar, as can be expected.

Lot's of 'appitizers'...cooked shrimp on ice, Oysters on the half shell, clams and mussels, two soups, antipasto, etc.

Main course had a great slab pork shoulder that was tender and juicy. The slab of beef was being carved in thin pieces, or they would sauté the slices in a heavy sauce that was also great. They had King Crab also, but it was kinda dry, IMHO. There was fried chicken, salmon, and lots of other stuff.

The dessert area had more sweet stuff than one could ever want! We were too full to try any by then!

The breakfast buffet looked really great as well, with anything you could want, PLUS a big slab of Prime Rib to send one over the edge! We just weren't hungry enough to try it out, so don't eat for a week before you try it out!

As I remember, the evening buffet was around $15, with a couple of bucks off for Seniors...and NO State sales tax!

We picked up some take-out stuff from the Italian place in their Food Court inside the Casino...Pizza, meat balls, etc...it was also really good, and we got lots of food for four for about $32...our AS smelled like an Italian Deli for a couple of hours, as we were 'shut ins' up there during the wet weather last Saturday...

They also have a fancy restaurant above the Casino inside the Hotel, which is the only place that serves booze...the Casino is completely 'dry', as they allow 18 year olds to 'stay and play' there. We haven't tried this restaurant yet, and I'm told it's kind of 'pricey', but excellent food.

The Food Court has Asian Food, Mexican Food, a sandwich deli/Coffee House, and the Italian Food mentioned above.

There is also a Burger Bar that's open 24/7 inside the Casino on the ground floor.

The drinks inside the Casino are free (please tip your server) and they have numerous choices; Coffee, Mocha, Sodas, Bottled Water, Spicy Tomato, Slushes, Juices, etc...good stuff!

Yes, the food is great and a good bargain to boot...stay up there too long, and they will have to 'cart' you out in a wheel barrel!
