What a great rally, we had such a nice time at our first. Who knew airstreamers were as cool in person as on the forums? (okay, we always had our suspicions) Thanks, Big Dee, for organizing. Thanks to all the pros for generously sharing knowledge we are scrambling to retain. And, what great looking rigs!

Thought I'd post that coffee cake recipe for those who had asked.
-Michele and Zach

NorCal Sour Cream Bambi Cake

Cake batter:
1/4 lb butter (yeah, baby - I use salted)
3/4 C sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 C sour cream

Filling:
6 Tbsp butter, melted
1 C brown sugar
1 C walnuts, chopped
2 tsp cinnamon

Grease bundt pan with butter and dust with white sugar. Mix together butter and sugar. Whisk eggs and vanilla together separately then add to the mix. Combine dry ingredients separately and add to butter/sugar mix. Add sour cream last. In a separate bowl, combine filling ingredients and set aside.

Layer ingredients in bundt pan. Start with half the cake batter, then sprinkle half the filling on top. Add remaining cake batter and finish with the filling on the very top. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes (I check it at 40). Cool briefly then turn out onto a plate. Cool completely. Covered with foil, this keeps well and I think it tastes best about a day after it is made. Sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top right before serving, or decorate however you wish. Enjoy!

Boy, that was a great weekend! I have this relaxed feeling of "Ahhhhh", everything went superb (except for my new mystery dent). After Friday's downpour, the sun came out and was spectacular weather. Saturday's potluck was a huge success and fun to have everyone together at once. Really great food everyone everyone brought and super deserts. I have a couple pics of the dinner to post. Pack up was painless on Sunday and drive home was easy. Awesome rally!

Zach- Thanks for the recipe for that killer cake. Your Bambi takes the "cake" for cutest trailer. Glad you guys have been so happy with it.

Tim- You are a real artist with those pics. Love em. It was nice meeting your nice family.

Ingrid- Glad you guys made it. Jeff looked like he needed a week off but at least he got a day to relax. Can't wait for the rally when you actually spend the night.

Jeff- Again, Colin was the sweetest thing riding for hours in the mud puddles. How many loads of laundry did you do yesterday?

Everyone think of a weekend in October that will work for the next rally!

Agreed.

Emily keeps talking about her camping friend She just loved chasing after Colin around the campsite.

She can't wait to go again. She keeps saying Daddy, I like camping.

And that's what it's all about

Thanks Nor-Cal Ralliers

Thanks Dan for organizing another great rally, and to all of you that came, a special thanks to all of you for being a part of such a gathering! I think my son Collin, had the best time of all, where can a 5 year old boy go these days, and be surrounded by natural surroundings, Airstream trailers and the company of folks that enjoy them both. And lets not forget the wonderful mud puddles dad, as Collin sits beside me as as I post this (mom is still washing them out of his clothes). And Tim, Collin says he wants to camp again with Emily, his new Airstream rally friend. Thanks again to all of you, Jeff, Kathy, Collin, and little Ted
PS I won't checkout the Geocashing thing Ingrid , I want to stay out of therapy

I have danced with the Devil and all I have to show for it is, Sand in my shoes.

Hey y'all;
I returned home on monday after I exhausted all Geo-sites in the area!

Big Dee - Thank you for all your time and energy that went into pulling this together. Too all that showed, girl friday and I enjoyed your company and feel we have meet a great group of new friends. We also believe that Oct. is to far away to wait.

After watching Collin, I will consider buying stock in Tide and Sears (Maytag washers).

Michele & Zack - I will now leave your Bambi cake recipe @ all new Geo-finds. Cake was so good.

Ingred - Great to meet the person responsible for making me a Geo-slave!

Had a great time. - Ray

Hey, Big Dee. Discribe your mystery dent. Did you bottom out going out of a fuel depot or driveway. Retrace your trip and give us your best guess.

OK. Time to check in. We got back today about 2pm (detour to Sacramento).

We really enjoyed all the different personalities in the trailers and the owners.

We will be there for the next one, schedule permitting.

PS. I will be selling my soul to the geocaching devil soon.

Thanks for the Thanks Everyone but No Need!

Glad everyone made it home fine and had a great time like I sure did. It was, without a doubt, an absolute blast. One highlight of the weekend was waking up on Saturday morning and looking over the sea of aluminum trailers covered in wisps of fog. Sooo cool! And that was one of many highlights for me.

John- I happily report that I hit NO traffic on the way home. Smooth ride all the way through Oakland and beyond. The best part was no tolls. I went up with the free direction on GG and down the free direction on the Richmond bridge.

Ray- Very much enjoyed your comic routine about geocaching. You had everyone in stiches! It's exactly what we need around the campfire- a comedian! Since we don't have any guitar players for the campfire, we will need your comic talent again next time!

Tinsel- The mystery dent was pointed out to me by Jeff and almost made me sick on the spot. It happened somewhere between the SF rest stop and Casini. It was a mystery because it is a dent with no marks or scratches and is just below the brake light panel and the lenses weren't even scratched. I did no backing up so it had to happen on a rear swing. How did it happen? After sleeping on it, I remembered thinking how narrow the entrance to Casini was and how I barely made it through. Well, I guess I didn't quite make it. Must have just got caught by a fraction of an inch. But the good news is it looks like it can be popped out without too much trouble. I have to take it in to Toscano anyway so...

Everyone, please vote on the next rally now on the new thread. It is only six months away!

Just for Big Dee...

Dan-

Because of your interest in wisps of fog over the river... Here are a couple photo's from Cassini, including wispy fog over river and Condoluminum, plus picture of Cam with Rainbow arching over his gorgeous CCD, and a shot of rainy Friday eve showing mud puddles Colin enjoyed so much...

I'm in "camp" with those who may not be able to wait til Oct, and may look for something mid summer while our resident faculty are on leave...

Checking in from Pismo! WiFi signal now is good since everyone has left. Very, very tight and full over weekend. It seemed to me to be a holiday weekend but no, just another PCV weekend. But now have closet RV about 100 yards! Sweet!

Anyway, for pics of the rally see posts #135, 136, 140, 144 and John's above. Casini was fantastic and beautiful and can't wait to rally there again.
