Thanks, not for me. Spam, camping, tastes better when sliced with a camp or pen knife.

Spam - O - Rama

Spam slicer? why? just something extra to add weight and reduce mileage.I usually place a can of spam on the intake manifold while towing. Punch a small air hole in the top for meat to breathe. When you get to the camp site, back in, unhook, grab a cold one, open the hood, get the warm spam, plunk yourself down, open the spam and jab the meat with a fork. Eat and drink away.I'm not seein a slicer here!

Nice shot of the mini claymore disguised as a spam can Neil. Folks been trying to remove your awning? Or is that some kind of "barking" spam? I eat enough Spam and I start a barking also, if you know what I mean.
{ you can do all the welcoming. I may be able to get there thursday].

Camera plane totalled last nite during combat flying, yup I finished second. Tail section severed during evasive manuver, inflight collision, loss of control and gravity took over. Direct into tarmack. Total loss of airframe, electronics yet to be checked.Yikes, havin too much fun!

Next time you are in the supermarket, breeze by the Spam isle, pick up a can and read the back. just do it.

No claymore, DG. The photo of my can of Spam chained to our awning base was taken at the '07 Casini gathering. For whatever reason, Laurel (BamCamper) listed the name of our pet's name as 'Spam'. So to roll with it I 'leashed' Spam to the awning. This was to conform to all leash laws, of course. He....she...it remained quietly in place until I got hungry.

Yet another upcoming milestone!!

FreshAir (Neil & Lynn) has 999 posts! Reaching the 1000 mark is some sort of thing here on this forum. Some wait for an opportune time others just roll with it.
I don't know about Neil, and I ain't sayin nothin to Lynn. So here's my "push"

Hey NEIL-- Your Mother Wears Combat Boots!!

All in jest of course, remembering about their trained canned meat.

I'm wanting to check out the travelling cocktail trailer, that Tipster thing I read about, sounds delightful, wonder if it has a firepit inside.

I'm slowly getting ready, cleaned the bore on the spudder yesterday!

Trained canned meat, the other pet. I was wondering when we'd hear from the Vienna Sausage people. I've always wanted to try Cheese Whiz, this may be the opportunity.

DG-- I can testify that the Airlounge will be the place to be. No firepit inside, but two flatscreen TV's and a huge martini shaker. We can build a fire outside. Poor Sue won't get any peace and quite the entire weekend

well i've been down and out with the flu but i've risen from the dead. and now i realize we got about a month to go till we gather again. wow! very exciting. i took out my trailer with my new truck a couple of weeks ago. it's an incredible rig! the sixth speed transmission is nothing less than awesome! i was going down a large hill when i was picking up too much speed when i tapped the brakes. the computer tells the tranny to downshift and whoa i felt the deceleration big time. plus the new vortec climbed the hill with ease. also, the rearview camera made hitching up incredibly fast. i can't wait to do some serious driving this summer.

i must object to this lowering of our gourmet food standards. are we trying to think of the grossest food we can bring? vienna sausage in a can? cheez-whiz? disgusting! just stop it. what happened to all the gourmet camp chefs? well i for one am thinking the other way, like baked brie topped with a cranberry chutney for happy hour. fresh bagels with homemade smoked albacore smear for brunch. i am still thinking about dinner entree but if i can get my smoker working in time, maple-glazed smoked turkey breasts. mmmm.... that's what i am talking about!!!

sue- glad the Air Lounge is all polished and ready to go. i think you will have the show stopper award for sure. can't wait to see it and have one of cam's special tropical drinks inside.

i'll see everybody soon...

Camping Gourmet!! The only way to go!

I agree with Big D. Although we may be very new to this crowd, we always bring top notch effort into our food preperation. (although nothing beats a bag of salted roasted peanuts while playing a rousing game of Yatzee)

As I mentioned

MACANDCHEESE!

will be out contribution to the evening Buffet. This receipe comes from an America Heritage Cookbook, and illustrated history of American Eating & Drinking! Published in 1964. This particular copy with descovered at a flea market in Capitola approximately 20 years ago. This copy was owned by a Earl Haggard, who was especially proud of such ownership as he enscribed his name both on the title page and then once again on the inside of the back cover!

Seeing as the book is a History of; in this book they have notation from a a Mr. Cutler speaking of a dinner he had attented with President Jefferson on February 6, 1802 about "a pie called macaroni", which it seems may be the first mention of Mac and Cheese that these authors found. A little interesting I think.

I can't wait to see what else shows up. BEWARE OF SPAM!!!!

Laura
