Thumbs up spot #123 - SOB

Hey Y'all - they put me in spot #123 , I guess SOB cancelled,
(or didn't want to deal with Margi Ball Maddness).

Either way, I'm arriving on Thursday sometime...

Go figure, I've got to go to the Russian River to meet my neighbors, Neil & Lynn!

Looking forward to it!

Cheers,
Kristiana

P.S. Requests on what I can bring to the potluck, etc?

How 'bout Veggie Lasagna for 100?

Kristiana-

Glad to see you're joining Party Central in central area at the Ranch....

Just joking about Lasagna (sort of..) as I suspect vintage Airstream ovens can't really heat something that large...

As much as I admire Dee's efforts to "organize" I feel it's worth pointing out that there often tends to be a LOT of food at Forum potluck dinners, and thus desserts may be less popular than main dishes, since many of us overdo first run through the line and leave little room for pies, cookies, cakes and ice cream.. (though it could just be a personal issue... ) Might also be fine to bring munchies for cocktail hour at 4:30 to 5-ish...

Even with picnic tables at Casini, we may need to issue "First Call" to bring tables for serviing and sitting as well, since I'm not sure every site has a table we can move around...

Doubt the current rain will leave enough water for mud puddles for the bicycle riders.. Maybe it will rain one more time before the 28th...

hmmmm...

I don't see a fruit salad on the list. I think I'll do that instead of cookies, unless that's covered? Oh and we're definitely coming Friday through Sunday instead of just for Saturday.

Paula, please don't abandon the dessert menu...I can never have enough of your sweet offering...even for someone that doesn't eat much sweet like me.... SERIOUSLY...

I am bringing "Coke addict craved baked ham" which is "multi-dimensional", that is both great for dinner, and perfect for breakfast, and if there's still left over, we can add some pineapple with it for snack at happy hour...needless to say, I am not taking any home with me...anyone...hear me???????? Sorry, Cabin Fever??? I really need to go camping soon....

Hi, Condoluminum. I have to disagree with one thing you said about desserts. No matter how much of anything I eat, there will always be room for ice cream.

I never said "No room for ice cream.."

Bob-

I'd hate to be responsible for harming the dessert table, and I do try to leave a "little" room for ice cream, cookies, brownies and a slice of pie or two.. (Sigh..) I just feel badly about not making a bigger dent in the total dessert supply.. Hopefully there will still be desserts for all..

No!!

Codybear, bring pie! As a confirmed pie freak (we call ourselves "pie-heads"), I need to try yours. What were you going to make?

I can also bring fruit pie. It's strawberry rhubarb season...also peach and raspberry, various other types...I take requests, but only fruit, please. I do cream, but I'd like to stick to fruit if possible, it's my specialty.

OK, so...
I'm in a cafe right now in Fairfield, huge accident on Highway 80 West. I forgot my wallet at home and I almost ran out of gas and my cell phone died. Good for me I found a wifi cafe with nice happy employees who are letting me charge my phone and surf the web.

We were in Yuba City/Sutter/Marysville for a ride around the Sutter Buttes www.bikearoundthebuttes.com. The ride got rained out (at least for me, I didn't do it, it was pouring). However, in my quest for something to do up there, I found Chowhound Boards - Chowhound and subsequently found Stephen's Farmhouse on Highway 99. We are "Road Foodies", so we always try the best BBQ, best pie, best hamburgers, etc. and so we had to go there and try the famous olallieberry pie. My husband says it's good but not as good as mine! Love that Jeff.

So Codybear, what's your crust style? Butter or shortening, or both? Flaky or dough-like? I use the recipe from the KitchenAid mixer instruction manual. Lady at Stephen's Farmhouse told me I should get a "dough blade" which incorporates the dough rather than mixing it, and makes it flakier.

Thoughts?

Cell Phone Numbers

Hi everyone. If you haven't done so already, and want to be included in a phone list for NorCal members, please email me. Include your Name, Forum user name, & cell phone number. I will send out the list via email by Friday to those that want to be included. At our last Rally, we discussed how it would be handy to have phone numbers of Rally attendees to contact in case of an emergency while on the road to the Rally.

Email me at: lindaott@sbcglobal.net

See you all at Casini Ranch!
