Please do. I am hosting a bbq on Wednesday night for my brothers family that lives in SLO. It would be super fun if you came too. I even bought a new bbq, the Coleman. Can't wait to try it on the dunes of PCV.

Buttercup,

There is a thread on this very topic. I have "straw polled" my fellow NorCal ralliers. There is interest from more than the required 10.

I had let the topic rest to see the outcome of the non Airstream Moho issue as it was a factor for some who would join the WBCCI to be apart of this Unit.

Clearly a Unit that had fun like a Norcal rally group would be a hit. All the details and decisions are worked out on the Forums in advance. As you found out that once you get to the campsite there is nothing else to do but have fun and everybody does what they enjoy.

The other lesson to learn from the Norcal group is they have Rallies. Well and easily planned and Not-really-a-rally-rallies. Wherin someone calls out a place and date without as much notice and all interested show up. The ingrediants of a Potluck and a Margi-ball is all that is needed. And now Bigdee has added another wrinkle ( a pretty neat one too.) of announcing where he will be and tossing out an invitation. I will bet more than one person is/has checked their calendar and he won't be there alone.

As you saw people will spend precious money and time to enjoy themselves.

GC, your leadership role is looming.

NorCal rallies and the notreallyarallyrallies are examples of what a large number of WBCCI members would hope the WBCCI rallies were like, but with the prestige of Wally's dream.

Casini was the best example of the Airstream dream. Of course all gatherings need some organization, but the NorCal Casini Rally proved it doesn't have to be done "by the book". Proof that this type of event is so popular is that there were quite a few Airstream families from SoCal, coming from as far as San Diego. And then again there was even Paul, coming from the Dakotas!!!!

If the WBCCI stays true to its origins, it is just a matter of time before the NorCal/SoCal Casini crowd will organize into a large WBCCI unit.

Bill
Bill.

Thanks for the support and the push. I believe the real goal is to keep the new WBCCI members for more the the first year. It seems that most of the 2000 plus per year, new Airstream owners want to join the exclusive club, the problem starts when they try it and don't like it, or worse, they don't even join because some of the existing units are all "old buddies" and don't really want to change to fit the times. So there is no need to have the folks who like their unit the way it is to change, I agree, just start a new one so that eventually, there is a place for everyone to follow their interpretation of Wally's dream.

I know this is a bit off topic (Casini Rally), but a lot of the participants and others read this thread because they enjoy following a rally that worked......heres a way to put the main stream Airstream fanatic in the WBCCI, to the benefit of both the club and the members.

I was pretty sure that all the folks (almost all) I mingled with at the rally are diehard Airstream nuts and are eager to do it more, and it is possible to add the WBCCI to the mix and make it even better.....but we do have to get off our butts. FCU is a great example....

Time.

What will WBCCI do for the NorCal group? Give us rules?

Well John brought up this subject last year. Should we try to make a WBCCI unit out of the NorCal group? The consensus then was, we were getting everything we wanted from Forum rallies. What exactly would be the advantage of joining the WBCCI and all its rules? Following stupid rules such as non-member's could only join buddy rallies held once a year (exclusion)? Do we want rules, rules, and more rules and pay $60 for the privledge of doing what we were already doing? Most said that we had it right and did not need the WBCCI to do what we were doing. Is there any advantage for us NorCal group to join besides just honoring Wally? Am I missing something?

Greetings From Seattle

I had a great time along with Tiemann and Mason at Casini as well as our road trip adventures. I was very lucky to stumble upon this thread when looking for where to go on my first trip. Everyone was super nice! Hopefuly this will happen again next year.

There is more I want to talk about, but for now, enjoy the pics.

Grasshopper know this important parable: The more organization, the less fun. The less organization, the more fun.

Casini proved that. We came all the way from New Mexico and can say without hesitation it was worth it!!

I was prepared to join WBCCI when I bought my Airstream (since they gave me all the info at the dealer) but the more I investigated it, the worse it sounded. I'm in the middle of the state so any number of units would work but they all had SO MANY RULES and agendas and a silly hierarchy which didn't make sense to me. Isn't is supposed to be all about Airstreams and camping and getting together with old and NEW friends and just having fun? (I won't really get into that discussion as there are lots of threads on the pros and cons of the WBCCI.)

I've been to a forums rally (or notreallyarallyrally) every month this year and they are all fun and flexible. People arrive when the want and do what they want and are very friendly and welcoming. That's my pet peeve...people who are not friendly and welcoming to everyone. Hey if you have an Airstream you're okay in my book. I try to include everyone in everything. (I've heard a number of horror stories about new people being snubbed because they weren't part of the core group...ouch!)

Maybe we should take this discussion back to the original thread about starting a new chapter. Or maybe just having informal forums rallies as often as we can is enough...

Here's a suggestion regarding discussion about WBCCI, etc.
Right now it's being tagged onto the Casini rally thread. If you feel strongly about the issues you're discussing and want more exposure, I think you should put it in it's own thread.
You're limiting your audience to those with interest in Casini, IMO.
FWIW,
Dave

On edit: Bam had the same idea, she just types (and thinks) faster. :-)
