Great photo of Cam telling stories around the "campfire in a can!"
We all left Eagle's Nest RV Park this morning....we drove back to Roseville, Don & Renee headed to Klamath Falls, and 3 others (Cam, Dan, and Neil & Lynn) were planning to caravan to an RV park in the Reno vicinity.
A GREAT time was had by all....

We are all holed up in the Bordertown Rv park tonight after a lo-o-ong "2 hour drive" (yeah, right, Dan). As my luck would have it it began to rain as we pulled in but I quickly threw a tarp over my once window on the convertible. After a nice dinner in the Casino I began to do the hook up routine. I dumped the b-tank at Eagles Nest but there's always a 'little' left. The dump valve had worked open on the journey so when I pulled the cap off to connect the sewer hose.....all came out and over my hands and ground! BLEH!! We don't know what yet we are doing tomorrow but it WILL NOT be gambling. Dan is staying to see an old friend...a teacher, of course, and I guess Cam is head'n out.

Finished
Lynn and I have finished 'our' Lassen to Lava Beds Cararally at Carmel. Well, almost. We leave for home on Tuesday. Today, Sunday, was 'volunteer' day for me at the Concours De Elegance at Pebble Beach. What an exciting opportunity. I am a bit tired now to download/upload my pictures but I will soon. Hopefully the journey home can be made successfully with the remaining 4 windows intacted in the convertible!!

hey everyone!
i got home sunday after prolonging my trip as long as possible. i had a fantastic time. it was better than any rally simply because it lasted a week. can't wait to do it again. any ideas for next summer?
having the loop to ourselves at gurnsey was sure fun. and the rain? who will ever forget that we got rained on for a whole day? i actually enjoyed the rain although i know cam didn't. and eagles nest once again proved how relaxing it is when you really "get-away!"
i want to give some awards to this awesome bunch of caravanners.
The Fearless Leader Award goes to Cam for leading us without one wrong turn and setting a good pace.
The Best Looking Rig Award goes to Neil and Lynn despite losing their back window. The red convertible towing the shiny vintage airstream is a sight to behold.
The Furthest Traveled Award goes to Don and Renee for coming all the way from Long Beach to join us. Sure glad they did.
The Best Floorplan Award goes to Dee and Paul. Well maybe i'm a little biased on this one. haha
and the Best Smoker Award goes to Cam for some delicious ribs and pork butt.
my mac is in the shop but i will post some pics when i get it back. thanks everyone for simply an awesome time!

Thanks for the "Award" Dan. We arrived home Tues. afternoon late after a thurough thrashing on 680 betwwen San Jose and Walnut Creek. Even our new axles didn't prevent much of the items in the rear half of the coach from being 'relocated'! A great time in Carmel visiting family and friend (Jeff, Coastalview) stopped by for a nice visit. Last Sunday I helped with 'volunteering' at the Peble Beach, Concours De Elegant. Jeff entered his Puegeot in the Concours De Lemon....lemon.... in a nearby park. Great old vintage vehicles and not so old celebraties in attendance. I didn't see any but I was too interested in the cars. I'm told that if I was paying attention I would have seen Jerry Sienfeld talking about a car with a owner. The Govenator (Arnold) and Jay Leno were there also. My job was for about 4 hours of 'guiding' visitors to and from the shuttle buses. One very attractive lady came to me and placed her arm on my shoulder to steady herself to shake the wood chips from the path from her expensive high heel sandals. When she completed that she turn her face to mine and beathed a " Thanks", to which I replied, "Your welcome, but you still have a little more of the wood chips to walk on." Would have I answered that way 30 or 40 years ago!! I could have sold my Pebble Beach hat and PB jacket several times. One of our volunteers sold his hat for $50. The hat and jacket were given to us and were not offered for sale to visitors.
See you all at Jackson Rancheria.
Neil.

Nice pics Neil,
We stayed at Carmel RV park before.. very cute place. I recall it was a bit tricky to get in and out of the sites as the park was a tight fit.
Quite the gentlemen with the ladies huh..
See you at Jackson

'Carmel RV Park' in our case is our daughter's inlaws driveway. Full hookups plus free meals . Also located 2 blocks walk from downtown Carmel.

Yes, it was a surprise. I didn't have anything to worry about. But it was reassurring to know the status. The last leg home from Carmel is up the hills east of Sacramento on 50. It was the middle of a hot afternoon and the water temp began to rise on the steep US 50 climb....then the tranny temp. So to be safe I pulled off onto an off ramp to give a cooling break. Two strangers stopped and offered help and water then a friend from church then our next door neighbor lady stopped. The temp gauges DO work! Having a stand out rig helps too.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in helping my out with my post
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...ets-55394.html
The cabinets are in North Bay area and I could meet someone near or at the Lassen Rally. I'm willing to pay for the effort. Please post, then send a email direct.
Thanks much.
Dan

Our Buick sports a factory performance engine. PLENTY of power! have increased the cooling capabilities with a larger radiator and tranny cooler. Everything worked as it should but THAT road is a challenge to tow on. Steep and winding. Dan suggested that route....thanks, Dan. I did not know what 36 was like but when you asked my advise I suggested 36 to you with your long rig. It couldn't have been any worse. Now you really DIDN'T tow up 1 near Fort Ross did you!!?

The Cararally is an annual event. Can you hold out until 2010?
