Valve Replacement Update
Installed new seals, cut 3" abs, added coupler and Valterra slip fitting.Installed complete assy to tanks. Blocked up tanks for support and filled both tanks with water. NO leaks after 2 hours. Time to go paddling.
How about those Giants. 19-3 against the doggers.

Yeah how about those Giants? Nice to beat up the Dodgers no matter where we are in the standings.... and take 3 out of 4. Now the 9ers. . . that was really painful last night.

Thanks to Vinnie's most excellent Northbay Airstream Repair (and his large backyard..) the rolling Condo now has a pair of shiny new Axis Axles, with slightly higher ratings (3500# v. 3200#) new brakes and bearings, and even a working drain valve for the fresh water tank.. (No longer need heat gun and pliers...). Also installed beautifully painted (dignified gloss gray instead of hideous Monroe Yellow) shock absorbers to replace 25 year-old rusty worthless things stuck to former mounts. Old axles completely petrified, and didn't drop 1/2" when wheels lifted off ground to begin replacement.. We have circled THURSDAY on calendar so we don't forget to arrive on time, and are looking forward to some R&R.. We will bring Margarita Ball (and contents..) and plan to have it ready to bring Friday night.. In past years, Jackson Rancheria would put out some snacks at happy hour in meeting room, but I propose we pick spot of person who has failed to arrive by 5 PM Friday, so that a properly cheery crowd can welcome them when they do pull in...

Since it’s a quiet time on this thread I thought I'd post a decision I've made regarding the Jackson Rally for 2014.
Through discussions, there had been interest in changing the Jackson rally to the spring time and Casini or some other location to the fall.
Things that have been noted are weather, rates, availability, other rallies, other calendar activities, personal interests, etc.
Once again the fall rally will be held at Jackson in October 2014. This location is becoming more popular each year; I generally discuss our contract with Jackson Staff 16 to 18 months in advance of our annual rally here and needed to commit to dates for October 2014. Their booked most of next year already and it was in best interest to reserve dates for October today. I've set the dates for October 10-12, 2014 and will be signing a contract.
I plan to discuss with many of you either through this thread or at Jackson next month the rotation of the Jackson rally to April beginning in 2015.
Seems a bit crazy to think so far ahead; but group arrangements can be a challenge.
To change rotation for Jackson to the spring time in 2015, it will need to be secured by April, 2014.
Now is anyone volunteering to host happy hour Friday night, or do we all storm a site by random!

Hi, just my opinion, but leave Jackson Rancheria where it is. [early October] Change Casini Ranch to May or June??????? [less rain????]

SWITCH THEM,
you have my permission!!!
The coast in October is much nicer than in the spring time. AND I'm getting tired of watching nEIls canopies get blown about.
On a side note-- John -have you made it to the city to watch the Kiwi's dominate?? Think Jimmy can win 8 of the next 9 to retain the cup? slim chance. and about your axles, if you were so worried about your hubs only dropping 1/2" when lifted you could have just switched to steel rims and solid rubber tires.

Hey this thread is alive again.. lots of stuff going on here for sure. Our thoughts go out to the "Sunshine" crew hoping things go as planned and a speedy recovery... DG and the dreaded black tank woes.. familiar territory here as I just finished one up.. crappy job but someone has to do it. Jeff, I like the idea of switching to Jackson in the springtime and maybe a new venue for the fall? Casini is close to home and I was just getting used to the "F" troop but who knows... Bob, if you see this put me down for a hat too! Looking forward to seeing the gang soon!

Coastalview,
You can book Becky and me for Thursday Oct 9, 2014 thru Tuesday Oct 14, 2013. We are happy to get together with the group anytime spring or fall at Jackson so swapping the dates is fine with us.
DG,
I agree that the Cup is on its way to NZ... but it sure is fun to see those 72 foot cats fly around the course.
Everyone else,
See you at Jackson!

Glad we have a host for Happy Hour.. We may take on Thursday evening cocktails, assuming a smaller and more intimate group..
And DG, NO I haven't made it to City for America's Cup racing.. I am enjoying watching snippets of AC-72's nearly flip or foiling 3' out of water at 35 knots, but three really bothersome work projects are keeping me lashed to PC.. All have late September deadlines.. Sigh.. <No added comments about failed retirement needed..> I think if Spithill and Ellison pull off the necessary wins to retain the Cup, the judges will disassemble their boat on the dock to figure out how they cheated.. I am assuming next round will be in Auckland, and we'll be watching races on cable-only TV at 2 AM in 2016.. Seems a shame, as SFO Waterfront is perfect location, but a lot of San Franciscans seem happy to see Ellison lose...
And as for axles, we already have steel rims, and all of the prior suspending was via tirewall flex.. Now the wheels can actually be observed rising and falling as trailer flies over rough roads... The only other alternative to new axles would be "Tundra Tires" which have lots of give in them, and glide over small boulders and tree trunks on small aircraft...

Hey Jeff,
We support the switch! If we end up going to Casini in the fall, the weather is much more pleasant (less windy)....and, maybe we can get better rates that time of year (wishful thinking, I know).
Cheers, Dee

DG,
Don't you have I've if those "way back" machines made by Professor Peabody? If not, I would gladly share mine with you or Jimmy (although I think he needs it more than you do at the moment). Worked late tonight so we didn't get to watch today's races on TEVO. Hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised and Oracle can keep the racing going. But I do believe the 35th AC will be sailed in NZ.
See everyone soon!
