DG,

I believe! I BELIEVE!!!

Wow, jimmy may just pull this off, but it is 8 to 6 (remember we started down 2 points). I am definitely drinking the Cool Aid, and it tastes soooo gooood! Great sailing and great TV coverage. We have been watching on NBCSN and on xssailing.com, we haven't missed a race yet, and if,....if we can win the next 3 races.....

Aall I can say is WOW, what a great after guard he has a the back of the boat and a fabulous crew on the rest of the boat...

Hi, I think the cut off date for ordering a hat/s will be on September 30th 2013 so Maria will have time to make them.

Scott;

ANOTHER 2 wins today. Jimmies first start "parked" the Kiwi's, then they went on about their way. Race 2 Jimmy and crew trailed at mark 2 to then waste the Kiwi's on the beat. won by about a thousand meters!!! Holy Moly. USA 10-Kiwi-8. Tomorrows one last race is for all the marbles! ! Hopefully we'll witness the GREATEST comeback of ALL sports events ever. Who'ld a thunk it.

Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the guy with the $41 Billion in the bank and let him have his way... IT is amazing to watch the races and see how one teeny screwup can mean a 500 yard swing in position, especially when the boats are flying at 40 mph+.. Announcers aren't talking much, but there appear to be BIG differences in jibs being flown, and USA Oracle seems to have picked up a ton of boat speed in recent races.. At that level, an extra knot of boat speed can overcome some poor tactics and sailing skills.. <Sorry - more America's Cup talk, but the races are just so darned incredible, compared to old 12 Metre snoozefests 15 miles offshore in New England.. >

Glad we have a DVR so I could watch the races after I got home from my meeting tonight. Really glad I didn't login to the forum until after we watched the races so I didn't see your spoiler post. This has been a great AC match up. Hopefully Jimmy and his crew can put together another good start and some fast legs up and down the course to keep the cup here in the USA. it's winner takes all, let's go racing!

John, yup The Oracle night crew has been working it , I'ld like to be in their compound around 2 am, the smell of carbon fibre and epoxy kicking off just gets me going! So far they have been issued a updated certificate every day.
Scott; spoiler post? sorry buddy, but don't you have the America's Cup App?? Having to rely on the Hoppah is a tedious way to stumble thru current events.
I think we should have some AC-72 replays at JRRV!! That could be fun.
Todays wind speed forecast is for 21kts. perfect WSW

DG,

Again.... WOW, what great racing. Really can't compare viewing that event on a small iPhone screen vs. watching it on a 55" plasma screen. They should win an
Emmy for the coverage we got to watch. See you all soon at JRRV, and I think watching the AC-72 replays are a great idea. All we need to do is login to xssailing.com on your Mac laptop computer, hookup AppleTV to your new 70" Ultra High Definition TV you are going to purchase on your way to JRRV, open the Mumm's champagne I will bring, then sit back, relax and enjoy.... If you ever ask Becky how to spell "Fun", her response will be "W - I - N". Here is to winning the 34th America's Cup!

Scott;
We watched the final today with Dee (Warbler5)at her place on the big screen. Pounded down a few cold ones in the process.
Whats wrong with just watching the replays on youtube? at any rate bring the bubbly, we can figure out the rest at a later time.lol
Todays race was a carbon copy of yesterdays 2nd race. With the Kiwis in the lead at mark 2 by a few seconds and then the split -- well it was over 2 tacks later.
I've never seen such a boatload of dejected sailors as were the NZers. What a bummer for them. BUT how many people have ever sailed on a 72. That alone is enough to hold you head up high.
Looks like the city by the bay will have another go at it. Hopefully the international tribunal will be banished USA 11---NZ 8, that's how I see it.
See you and Becky in a few weeks !!

Potluck entries....

Ted & Marion will bring teriyaki chicken to potluck dinner.

Friday Cocktail hour: salsa and chips + some Oktoberfest beer to share.

Saturday Cocktail hour: "mystery" blender recipe. Will there be group "judging" (applause???.. prizes???) for the best tasting mystery drink?

Do we need to bring firewood for group firepit???
See you all there! T&M

Rally time is upon us...

I'm thinking about some kind of meatloaf for the "Potluck"

My lovely bride is modeling our latest fashion apparel
We have a variety of men's and women's t-shirts in three colors at cost.. for the ladies it's a Hanes V-neck in white, light blue and steel gray. For the men its a Hanes t-shirt (no pocket) in steel gray, white or pebble (tan).

With the purchase of a t-shirt you also get a complimentary wheel bearing repack...

Kidding about the wheel bearing repack part

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon

Vinnie

Ted,
No, don't bring firewood (wood or charcoal fires are not allowed at JRRV). Propane fire pits are allowed though. DG usually brings a MONSTER propane fire pit with an equally large propane tank!

DG,
Becky and I are up here in San Francisco for the weekend. Yes, I realize we are just a little late for the America's Cup, but better late than never. Hopefully we can find some cool AC SWAG, and maybe some Dungies to crack open and eat while we are here. Any suggestions where to get some good, fresh crabs?

Vinnie, put us each down for T-Shirts. Becky wants a woman's medium in steel gray and I would like a men's medium in steel gray. Yea! Vinnie's T-Shirts, how cool is that! See all if you soon!

Hey - does anyone know - is that kitchen store doing a demo again this year -- we loved that place (and the 15% discount) - I'm in the market for some new skillets and they have the ones I want!!

If you've noticed my name is in a paid spot, and again this year I don't know if I can make it, it's yes no no yes yes maybe no yes yes and right now I'm waiting here in Green Bay on a third party to call their technician in another lab about asphalt core results on this new Costco Warehouse I've been here in inspecting being built since May before I can hit the road for home. And there's talk about another round of asphalt work on another taxiway at the same Minden-Tahoe airport supposed to start this week. But..
Travis at The Kitchen Store just called me back and says he thinks he's free for that Saturday, what time would you all prefer for the presentation? He's going to call me back tomorrow when he gets back to his store and check his calender. Or do you want it on Sunday?
Bring your knifes you bought last year, they'll sharpen them too.

My actual cost is just a little over $10 bucks... so $10 bucks works for me.

Nevada Geo - awesome news!! I'm fine with either sat or sun as we're staying over on sun this year. The time they did if last year in Sat was perfect - gave us plenty of time to go shop, eat lunch and get back to warm up potluck food!!

DG & Nancy,

Thanks for the recommendations. We went to Scomas for dinner tonight. The 1.5 hour wait was well worth the effort. Plus we made a number of new friends at the bar as we all waited for our names to be called. Becky had the Crab Louis salad and I had sautéed crab, mushrooms, onion and garlic (dungies of course). Fantastic dinner! Here is a photo of Becky's salad piled high with Dungeness crab.
