Ninth Annual Blanco, Texas Christmas Rally Dec. 9, 10, 11, 2011
Oldest Annual Forum Rally By Far
Santa Comes To Town on December 10.
I'm posting this early while there are still plenty of sites left in the park.
Last year some Airstreamers had problems with the reservations.
This will be a good outing for Vintage, first timers (and old timers), and kids...
Reservation numbers:
Austin: 512-389-8900
Park: 830-833-4333
or Texas Parks & Wildlife Department :: Your Reservation system for outdoor fun.
Texas State Parks Region 6 - under campground name enter: Blanco State Park
Gift Exchange Rules are the same as last year.
As in years gone by, there will be a hosted dinner at the park on Friday evening - BYOB, Drinks, Table, Chairs, and Setups - Desserts always welcome.
Pot Luck and Gift Exchange on Saturday Evening.
Please post any ideas you may have about rules, procedures, judging, or grievances.
Pets and kids (both on a leash) are welcomed.
If there are any doubts that kids are REALLY welcome just refer to last years postings:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...0-a-69457.html
and take a look at JimJ's picture gallery of the event:
Blanco, TX 2010 Christmas Rally - Photo Gallery=
The theme has yet to be devoloped - anyone with a suggestion please post here.
Looking forward to seeing all of you again - especially the younger Streamers.

We should be able to make it this year since no conflict with the THLU Xmas rally like the last two years. We made it the first three or four times.
On edit ... reservation is made! I'm coming down a day early (8th). Wife probably will come the 9th.

We just made our reservations. It looks like there are already very few sites available on the State Park reservation site. Looking forward to it because this will be our first time to attend and the reviews always sound like it's a great time. Will there be a Rally posting that we are supposed to RSVP on?

It will be good to see you guys.
This has always been a fun get together. The weather is sometimes a bit cool, but we have always had a great time. We particularly enjoy the vendors around the old courthouse and the small-town parade. Makes me think of the small town where I was raised.

Woo Hoo. We just made our reservations. Our last outing was the Vintage rally in Glenn Rose earlier this year. So much fun. But then they called me back to work. It will be so good to know we have something lined up. We went to Blanco on our "Maiden Voyage" (see pic). What a beautiful small park and immaculately clean.
Did I see someone say "Frozen Pipes"??

According to a letter I received today from the Blanco Chamber of Commerce with regard to planning our Silver Christmas 2011 the parade will be Friday, December 9th at 6:30 pm and something called an evening on the square. Saturday is their Annual Christmas Market Day on the square.

Thanks Skye for letting me know about this one. Sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. If Dennis and Mary are involved it will be fun! Have always wanted to go but as John said, there always seemed to be a conflict with our THLU Christmas Rally. Glad it's going to work out this year. Jimmy and I will be there and look forward to seeing Frank and Mike, John and Kay, and Chuck and Skye and everyone else!

OK, we are registered at the park but do I now need to register with a host? Send money? How do I get a hold of the rules and plans...?
we are blissfully ignorant.

Your signature line states "Release Your Inner Hippie".
Trust me, you will not have ANY problems with the rules you may find at this non-WBCCI rally.
I won't say that "there are no rules", but what happens in Blanco STAYS in Blanco.
Always be aware of just who is in earshot and use age appropriate language.
DO NOT invite the park rangers to the dinner - they usually ignore the "no alcohol" rule in the park if we cover the keg or use sippie cups for grape juice, but let's not push our luck.
See the following threads links to previous Blanco Rallies. The subject of "rules" usually pertain to the Christmas Gift Exchange. Let's just say that the "Spirit of Christmas Giving" quickly gives way to "Demonic Materialistic Malevolence" when anything Chicken, Flamingo, or Airstream is involved. Having stated the above, I will not be drawn into further arguments on "Christmas Exchange Rules".

For "Plans" read post #14 of the 5th Annual Blanco thread.
On the question of what to bring to the pot luck - we have had success in the past just running on pure random luck for a good assortment, but since it appears as if there will be more participants this year I am asking everyone to post what they are preparing so that there will be a bit more variety.
It will be hard to top last years rally, from the fun level generated by the San Marcos rally there will be a good chance that we will.

I'm happy to report that we'll be there! Just made our reservation. It showed seven reservable sites remaining. Looking forward to the "Standard" for AirForums rallies! Lots of fun!

What do you mean registered? I tried to reserve a site, any site, but all sites come back as "not Available" does this mean it's full already? The office is closed today. I spoke with someone at the park but they can't make reservations that far in advance, and would have to call Austin. Tried that but today it's closed.
Is there a trick?
I will surely try tomorrow morning 1st thing.
